"Yes, Trump maintains his vise grip on the Republican Party even while officially out of power, from one of his vacation homes. But not indefinitely. I think there’s a clear date when this either ends or it gets worse: November 8, 2022." "The midterm elections are sort of like the date upon which Trump’s control of the GOP comes up for renewal." - Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi Okay, so the GOP must lose badly in the midterm elections before they'd (possibly) rid themselves of Trump. But that's a year and a half away! What can we do in the meantime to help diminish Trump's power? And I don't just mean we the American people, but hey, is there anything we Hipforumers, as a team, can do? Can we put together an anti-Trump statement containing some of our best material we've posted? And where could we send it where it might get a lot of public viewing? Everyday we post in this thread and we come up with some great stuff, but how many people actually read it? A couple dozen? How can we go public?
We could send it to the Republican National Committee, but of course they would say we are just a bunch of libtards.
First active duty service member charged in Capitol riot. Marine Corps officer becomes first active-duty service member charged in Jan. 6 attack, DOJ says Kristine Phillips, USA TODAY Published 2:14 p.m. ET May 13, 2021 Updated 3:15 p.m. ET May 13, 2021 Capitol riot: Marine Corps officer charged for role in Jan. 6 attack. "WASHINGTON – A Marine Corps officer was arrested Thursday and charged with assaulting police officers at the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, making him the first service member on active duty charged for his role in the deadly riot, the Justice Department said. Maj. Christopher Warnagiris is accused of forcing his way inside the Capitol by pushing through a line of officers guarding the building's East Rotunda doors. Video footage showed Warnagiris keeping the door open for others to get in and later pushing a Capitol Police officer who tried to close it, the Justice Department said. Warnagiris, 40, who's stationed at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Va., is facing several charges, including assaulting, resisting or impeding officers, obstruction of law enforcement, and obstruction of justice. He is among several dozen people with ties to the military who are facing charges related to Jan. 6. The Justice Department said it has charged more than 40 veterans, guardsmen and reservists."
The point of the Republican party? To stroke the ego of Trump | Richard Wolffe excerpt: "But here we are nonetheless at a point where the Grand Old Party has shrunk into a small old cult of personality, willing to twist and turn to the whims of its sociopathic former leader. Consistency meant nothing inside the cult. More billions of spending on a nonsensical border wall? The deficit hawks said no problem. More bullying business leaders by presidential tweet? The capitalist caucus said bring it on. More cozying up to the leaders of Russia, China and even North Korea? The defense hawks thought that sounded fine. Paying off porn stars with campaign dollars? The party of family values barely blushed. Each one of these big and small sellouts brought the party to the point where it fired Liz Cheney from the House leadership on Tuesday for stating the obvious: Trump lost the election last year and stoked an insurrection to save face."
HF is only as far as I want to go with what I posted on here. This has been a way to vent frustrations. I don’t want or need the public attention, nor want HF to be scrutinized, because that will happen. It’s already being talked about, I’m sure. Let the politics work itself out, we need to preserve our safe haven to continue to vent!
In the mind of Rep. Clyde, the arrested active duty military rioter was just a misfit at the Capitol doing a run-of-the-mill tour of the grounds. Clyde could go a step further and say that the arrested military member was there to protect the protesters like Trump had requested before the riot.
Under an obscure statute of Florida law, Governor Ron DeSantis could potentially investigate whether an indicted “person ought to be surrendered” Nathan Place, New York May 13, 2021 https://w.independent.co.uk/news/wo...xtradition-manhattan-indictment-b1847121.html excerpt: "Under a little-known clause in Florida law, the governor of the state has the authority to investigate whether a “person ought to be surrendered” to another state over an indictment. Mr DeSantis has long been a fiercely loyal ally of Mr Trump. “The statute leaves room for interpretation that the governor has the power to order a review and potentially not comply with the extradition notice,” Joe Abruzzo, the clerk at the Circuit Court of Palm Beach County, told Politico. Palm Beach officials have recently been scrambling to draw up contingency plans in case Mr Trump is indicted while he’s still in Florida. The former president has been living at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, but plans to spend the summer at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. According to one report, by the Daily Mail, he’s already moved. If Mr Trump is indicted while in Bedminster, Mr DeSantis will be unable to help him. New Jersey’s governor is the Democrat Phil Murphy, who is not among the former president’s fans. Though state law gives him similar authority over extraditions, Mr Murphy is unlikely to intervene on Mr Trump’s behalf."
Still, I'd like to do something to help bring down Trump. I'm thinking I could post some of our best quotes, anonymously if you prefer. But where to go where it would be noticed by a lot of people?
According to conservatives, the election was stolen from Donald Duck, because the electorate is rigged. Since at least half the republican party demands they follow him, he must be right. A democracy that half the population rejects, must be pretty bad.
Manhattan DA prosecutors subpoenaed an elite Manhattan private school as part of its investigation into Trump Kelly McLaughlin and Jacob Shamsian May 13, 2021 Manhattan DA prosecutors subpoenaed an elite Manhattan private school as part of its investigation into Trump excerpt: "In an earlier interview with Insider, Jennifer Weisselberg said the Trump Organization would pay employees like her former husband with perks like tuition and housing instead of cash as a way to control their lives. "They want you to do crimes and not talk about it and don't leave," she said."
Trump lashes out as more than 150 senior Republicans threaten to form new party if GOP doesn’t disown him Move came after Liz Cheney lost House leadership role for criticising ex-president’s election lies Graeme Massie, Los Angeles May 13, 2021 Trump lashes out as more than 150 senior Republicans threaten to form new party if GOP doesn’t disown him excerpt: "Donald Trump lashed out as more than 150 senior Republicans threatened to form a new party if the GOP doesn’t disown him. The new group is being led by Trump-critics Evan McMullin and Miles Taylor and is calling for a major reform of the party. The move came after congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming was stripped of her House Republican leadership position over her criticism of Mr Trump’s fraudulent claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him. Mr McMullin ran for president as an independent in 2016, and Mr Taylor is a former Homeland Security chief of staff in the Trump administration who wrote the “anonymous” op-ed in The New York Times."
One of Trump's remarks that was part of his lashing out at the GOP and Biden: “He is even giving us men setting new records playing women’s sports. What a disaster for our Country (sic) it has been!”
Activists and Ex-Spy Said to Have Plotted to Discredit Trump ‘Enemies’ in Government excerpt: "WASHINGTON — A network of conservative activists, aided by a British former spy, mounted a campaign during the Trump administration to discredit perceived enemies of President Trump inside the government, according to documents and people involved in the operations. The campaign included a planned sting operation against Mr. Trump’s national security adviser at the time, H.R. McMaster, and secret surveillance operations against F.B.I. employees, aimed at exposing anti-Trump sentiment in the bureau’s ranks. The operations against the F.B.I., run by the conservative group Project Veritas, were conducted from a large home in the Georgetown section of Washington that rented for $10,000 per month. Female undercover operatives arranged dates with the F.B.I. employees with the aim of secretly recording them making disparaging comments about Mr. Trump. The campaign shows the obsession that some of Mr. Trump’s allies had about a shadowy “deep state” trying to blunt his agenda — and the lengths that some were willing to go to try to purge the government of those believed to be disloyal to the president."
