https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/12/house-gop-votes-to-oust-trump-critic-liz-cheney.html excerpt: "After the 2020 election cycle, Republicans lost control of the White House and the Senate. But much of the party still sees Trump as its biggest draw. “He’s the most popular Republican in the country by a lot. If you try to drive him out of the Republican Party, half the people will leave,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., a committed Trump ally, said Tuesday on Fox News. “So it doesn’t mean you can’t criticize the president, it means the Republican Party cannot go forward without President Trump being part of it,” Graham said. While Cheney was ousted behind closed doors, the intraparty row over her views has been aired in broad daylight — leading to some unusual political optics, such as Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer praising Cheney for speaking."
Maybe he is at the moment but his popularity has been slowly slipping. I'm hoping this incident will speed up the process, but I'm not sure it will. Time to wait and see!
Blakey talks about the recount in AZ and bamboo in the paper ballots. Stefanik, who is expected to replace Cheney, voted with Trump 78% of the time compared with Cheney who voted with him 93% of the time. Youtube video:
Ex-state Rep. Anthony Kern, who was at Capitol riot, seen counting ballots in Arizona audit excerpt: "Former Republican Arizona state Representative Anthony Kern, who was present at the January 6 Capitol riot and advocated the baseless "Stop the Steal" movement, has been seen taking part in the hand recount of Maricopa County's 2.1 million ballots from the 2020 election. On Friday, Arizona Republic reporter Ryan Randazzo took and posted a photo of Kern counting ballots inside the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix for the Maricopa County election audit. Kern lost his 2020 race for re-election, but his race isn't being recounted. The Arizona recount only covers the races for president and the U.S. Senate. Both were won by Democrats."
Even if the recount technique itself was being handled objectively (and it isn't), overall it's still biased in that it is examining only the Presidential and U.S. Senate races (that the GOP lost in AZ) and only in the AZ county of Maricopa where Democrats had a significant win margin (40,000 for the presidential race).
This selective recount approach that Trump has been using is part of why Trump lost more than 60 cases in court. The judges were asking what happens to the results of all of the down-ballot elections when geographically throwing out ballots and trying to justify doing it for only particular elections (the presidency). The outcomes of the down-ballot elections would also likely change when throwing out ballots, disenfranchising many voters and candidates. If the down-ballot elections are to be excluded in Trump's recounts, a justification needs to be made for why those votes are still valid but why ones within them that were cast for Biden aren't. Trump's people came up empty in court on these issues.
What does Donny have on all these guys that they have such blind allegiance ? They can't all be in damning Epstein and PeePee videos like Don. Maybe Liz will just tell all now - what does she have to lose??
Trump doesn't have anything on these guys... What he has is an angry voter base. That base can make sure a "non-compliant" member of the GOP will lose in upcoming elections.
Good point, since he was calling them names like "Lying Ted" and "Widdle Marco" and others. His went hard against McCain and Flake of Arizona.
What they did to her will come back at them. She can turn Wyoming against them. Her Wyoming numbers are better than Trump's numbers. I would love to see Wyoming turn Democrat.
I'd like to see it too but I'm not optimistic. I lived in Wyoming for 2 years, in Laramie where I went to UW. Being a college town, Laramie is more progressive than the rest of Wyoming, which is pretty conservative. At best they might get fed up with Trump and not vote for either candidate in the next election. But hey, that might be the best we can hope for if Donald Duck @ L'Orange manages to run again.
I just don't understand what conservativism has to do with any of this crap. Yes, I understand controlling government overreach and out of control spending, but most seem to have lost their way and their minds. Time to mothball the two party system, and impose term limits. Funny, I almost said control campaign spending, but I didn't want to look a fool.....
Liz Cheney was defiant after the vote. She told reporters that she had spoken to her Republican colleagues and told them she was “absolutely committed … that we must go forward based on truth.” “We cannot both embrace the ‘big lie’ and embrace the Constitution,” she said, “I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office,” she said. “We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution.” Liz Cheney will be vindicated with the GOP and their supporters once Trump falls out of favor. She's already vindicated with most of the country.
