Congress was in the process of debating and preparing to vote on the objections by various states when Trump's riot started at the Capitol.

Hours into the riot, Trump and Giuliani were still trying to call members of Congress (dialing wrong numbers) to encourage them to object to the election result while they were sheltering in place to protect their lives from Trump's rioters.

Sen. Loeffler withdrew her support of the objection to the Georgia presidential election result because of the violence that happened at the Capitol. It contributed to Trump's failure to have Congress vote to overturn the election.

The day before the Capitol riot, Loeffler had lost her U.S. Senate seat in the Georgia runoff election.

Trump's violence and coercion tactic had an effect on the way members of Congress voted on the objections to the results of the presidential election.

2021 storming of the United States Capitol - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

"Representative Peter Meijer (R–MI) said that several of his Republican colleagues in the House would have voted to certify the votes, but did not out of fear for the safety of their families,[375] and that at least one specifically voted to overturn Biden's victory against their conscience because they were shaken by the mob attack that day.[376]"

Only AZ and NV had an objection that was voted on by Congress. The objections failed by large margins in the House and Senate.

The potential objections from four states (GA, MI, NV, and WI) failed because of lack of a senator joining the objection. Loeffler of GA had joined before the riot but withdrew after the riot.

Trump doesn't understand how governance works.

2021 United States Electoral College vote count - Wikipedia

"Objections to the electoral votes of Georgia, Michigan and Nevada were raised by Republican members of the House, but were not sustained because no senator joined the objection. In the case of Georgia, Senator Kelly Loeffler (R–GA) had withdrawn her objection after the unrest.[61][62][63]"

In other words, it's more politically expedient to plead cowardice.

Even if AZ and NV had had successful objections by a vote in Congress, it wouldn't have been enough electoral votes take away from Biden to reduce his number below 270, so there wasn't a possibility of having state legislatures across the country vote on who won the presidential election.

You'd better believe it. Ask Mike Pence how 4 years of solid loyalty to Trump worked out for him after the January 6th mess. Even now, Pence can't properly defend himself since doing so would entail criticizing Trump......and doing that would mean displeasing all the Trump supporters.

Would love to see Rudy turn on his old boss, not that much would change because of it.

Seeing as how Rudy was begging for money earlier this year, trump is probably lending him money. Consequently, Rudy won’t sing.

Trump's support is slowly waning. After 100 days out of office, Trump's support softens in NBC News poll

If Liz Cheney can maintain her position in the GOP it would be a huge setback for Trump, who's campaigning to have her replaced with Elise Stefanik. A vote to oust Cheney from her leadership job seems all but certain and could happen as soon as May 12.

Cheney is showing no signs of stepping aside as House Republican conference chair.
"This is about whether the Republican Party is going to perpetuate lies about the 2020 election and attempt to whitewash what happened on Jan 6," Jeremy Adler, Cheney spokesperson, said in a statement. "Liz will not do that. That is the issue."

So Liz Cheney is prepared to go down swinging. Hope she goes all out, attacking Trump in every conceivable way, and attacking those who still defend him. It's mud-slinging time!

Rudy isn't happy unless he's complaining about money, and he and Donald Duck might as well walk into court with their hand stuck in a cookie jar, and nobody would think it strange.

The proud wife of a Capitol rioter posted evidence of him on the web which led to his arrest.

This Capitol rioter didn’t leave a trail of evidence – but his proud wife did

    excerpt:

"Okay ladies let me tell you what happened as my husband was there inside the Capitol Rotunda. There was a small group of young men dressed in military garb who yelled "we r going in!" They broke the barricade down, ran up the steps, broke a window and climbed in. They broke some furniture. Then proceeded to storm the floors. The crowd followed to stand on the balconies. When this happened there were police milling around doing nothing even after the breech [sic]. Gary walked around the back of the building and climbed the stairs walking right into the rotunda. He stood there and heard and saw teargas blasts. The police were right next to him as Gary poured water on their eyes. He stayed to chat w the police who were calm. Prior to Gary getting in evidently one woman was shot."

Judge rules Proud Boy Capitol rioter's parents are unsuitable guardians to hold him pending trial

Judge rules Proud Boy Capitol rioter's parents are unsuitable guardians to hold him pending trial

    excerpt:

"According to the report, his parents made statements that appeared to be in encouragement of the riot. His father allegedly advised his brother Jonathan, also charged in the riot, that "braggers get caught" — and his mother allegedly advised to "pull a Hillary and use a hammer."

"This was not an exercise of free speech but, to the contrary, an effort to quash the collective voice of the American electorate," wrote Judge Randolph Moss in his decision. He added that he would not rule out releasing Klein in the future — albeit under strict conditions."

Cheney accepts fate of ouster in name of Trump-free GOP

    excerpt:

"Driving the news: “We must be brave enough to defend the basic principles that underpin and protect our freedom and our democratic process,” Cheney wrote Wednesday in a Washington Post op-ed.
    • “I am committed to doing that, no matter what the short-term political consequences might be."
    • “I am a conservative Republican, and the most conservative of conservative values is reverence for the rule of law.”
Between the lines: In the short term, McCarthy wants to get rid of Cheney so he can refocus on gaining the House majority — and the title of speaker — in 2022.
    • He sees embracing Trump as his ticket to getting there and is willing to steamroll anything getting in his way.
    • In the long term, Cheney thinks her principled stand may not only save the Republican Party but distinguish her as a truth-teller worthy of potentially being president herself one day."

Arizona’s Republican-Run Election Audit Is Now Looking for Bamboo-Laced “China Ballots”

Arizona’s Republican-Run Election Audit Is Now Looking for Bamboo-Laced “China Ballots”

    excerpt:

"If that sounds much too crazy for an audit that was initiated by the Republican-led Arizona legislature and whose communications are being spearheaded by Republican former secretary of state, Ken Bennett, it very much is not.

On Wednesday, audit liaison John Brakey told a reporter from the local CBS affiliate in Phoenix that the audit team was checking to see if 40,000 Biden ballots were smuggled into Arizona from Asia by checking the paper’s fiber to try to detect bamboo:"

It's hard not to brag when you see yourself as a freedom fighter. They're fighting for the freedom of living under Trump as President.

Arizona’s Republican-Run Election Audit Is Now Looking for Bamboo-Laced “China Ballots”

    excerpt:

"Where did this theory—apparently of major concern for the Arizona auditors—that someone in Asia had sent 40,000 ballots to Maricopa County in order to sway the election for Joe Biden and against Donald Trump come from? It appears to have come from an election fraud gadfly named Jovan Pulitzer, who Slate’s Aaron Mak reported earlier this week is supporting the work of Maricopa audit firm “Cyber Ninjas.”

In addition to Pulitzer having claimed to invent a technology that would detect whether a ballot’s ink and folds might indicate forgery, Mak flags that back in December Pulitzer began to espouse a theory that China had imported ballots to tip the election to Biden and that he could detect such malfeasance by uncovering bamboo particles via “a forensic analysis.”"

Up next: Cyber Ninjas to measure isotope ratios in the atoms of Maricopa County ballots to determine if they were smuggled in from Mars.

When you need to hire a company to run a very important audit and the best you can come up with is a company named "Cyber Ninjas" and they have never done this kind of work before...

The situation is worse for Trump if he is trying to 'win' Arizona by disqualifying ballots in Maricopa County regardless of which candidate was cast on the ballot.

Biden won Maricopa County by about 45,000 votes and Arizona by about 10,000 votes.

About one-fourth (10,000/45,000) of the votes of the county would need to be disqualified to effectively give Trump 10,000 extra votes. That's about 500,000 ballots in Maricopa County (2,100,000/4).
