Shirkey changed his mind and jumped onto the Trump bandwagon. First he denounced the group that entered the Michigan State capitol with weapons in April 2020. A few weeks later, he praised them at one of their events where two of the members would be arrested a few months later. Shirkey flew to the White House in December 2020 with Chatfield to meet with Trump to (supposedly) discuss coronavirus aid for Michigan. It was shortly before MI was to certify its election result. Trump was hoping for a last-ditch effort to have Shirkey and Chatfield stop the MI certification. Among the Insurrectionists excerpt: "That conviction had been instilled at least in part by politicians who benefitted from it. In April, in response to Whitmer’s aggressive public-health measures, Trump had tweeted, “Liberate Michigan!” Two weeks later, heavily armed militia members entered the state capitol, terrifying lawmakers. Mike Shirkey, the Republican majority leader in the Michigan Senate, denounced the organizers of the action—a group called the American Patriot Council—as “a bunch of jackasses” who had brandished “the threat of physical harm to stir up fear and rancor.” But, as Trump and other Republicans stoked anti-lockdown resentment across the U.S., Shirkey reversed himself. In May, he appeared at an American Patriot Council event in Grand Rapids, where he told the assembled militia members, “We need you now more than ever.” A few months later, two brothers in the audience that day, William and Michael Null, were arrested for providing material support to a network of right-wing terrorists."
Shitty! That was the worst one since Roseanne Barr. To think that they even have the nerve to salute the flag and sing the Star-Spangled Banner after what happened on 6 January and the outcome of the 2nd impeachment- leaves me baffled and bewildered......
With all their money, with the eyes of the world on them with the stage - that's the best they could dig up to sing the National Anthem of the United States of America? Geeze, and I thought my shower singing was bad, but I blame it on the acoustics.
Sorry, that was written/told by Samuel Johnson. Emma Goldman said this: If Voting changes everything, they'll try to make it illegal. Does that sound like the asshole-ish Republicans? Was Emma Goldman right?
The QAnon Shaman was cocky and confident during the riot. Later, he was in jail complaining that the food wasn't organic like at the house where he was living with his mother. Among the Insurrectionists excerpt: "A moment later, the door at the back of the chamber’s center aisle swung open, and a man strode through it wearing a fur headdress with horns, carrying a spear attached to an American flag. He was shirtless, his chest covered with Viking and pagan tattoos, his face painted red, white, and blue. It was Jacob Chansley, a vocal QAnon proponent from Arizona, popularly known by his pseudonym, the Q Shaman. Both on the Mall and inside the Capitol, I’d seen countless signs and banners promoting QAnon, whose acolytes believe that Trump is working to dismantle an occult society of cannibalistic pedophiles. At the base of the Washington Monument, I’d watched Chansley assure people, “We got ’em right where we want ’em! We got ’em by the balls, baby, and we’re not lettin’ go!”"
CPAC should be more creative with its homage to Trump. CPAC needed a giant image behind her of Trump hugging the flag. A golden statue of Trump hugging the flag. Even better, a golden statue of Trump in his shorts hugging a Trump flag.
She was only a little bit out of tune... Okay, a lot out of tune... Like, just jump in there when you find a pitch you're comfortable with... Or, not.
