That is WORSE! What are you like Sporty? lol

    How about this.
Pork or beef dripping can be served cold, spread on bread and sprinkled with salt and pepper (bread and dripping). If the flavourful brown sediment and stock from the roast has settled to the bottom of the dripping and coloured it brown, then in parts of Yorkshire it is known colloquially as a "mucky fat" sandwich.

There is nothing better than tasting a food that embodies a culture. Something about that is unique and wonderful.

I don't think we have an English restaurant! :(

But thankfully there are trips to London to make up for this. :sunglasses:

I think I ate at the hotel (Holiday Inn Express... they have that free breakfast.../it's a steal) too much when I went to London in 2017.

What I wouldn't give for scones! :yum:

EDIT: I can't wait to get out that way again! :D

  7. We would add water or milk to that sediment and swirl it around and call it gravy. Them eat it on bread. The Yorkshire way looks much easier.

My mother will make any kind of meat and when she does save the juices for gravy. I think it's a fundamental aspect of my upbringing.

    That sounds nice. :)

Sadly, I have no time. And my diet is pretty stringent. I couldn't fit in a scone if it were my last day on planet earth! LOL

I scold my mom when she makes extra biscuits. ;)

Holy Cows, do you have a butchers shop or just shoot the things. Here to kill one lamb costs more in legislation and paperwork than the lamb is worth.

I half-way know how to make things... we have measuring cups and pans, baking sheets, and cooking oil. So much of it is in conflict with my mentality about eating that I have a hard time being enthusiastic - I'm on a stringent plant-based diet.

That being said, there are plenty of tasty plant-based things that do require cooking.

I've followed this post and seen some things that looked good and some not so good. So I want to ask anyone willing to reply. What is the one thing all should try at least once?

I will say one thing I tried once was the Elvis grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich. No comment!

Suet pudding - can either be savoury as in suet dumplings in a stew, or sweet as in suet 'spotted dick' - a suet pudding with currants served hot with custard.
