The evidence will be supplied to Trump's defense lawyers in accordance with our criminal code. I'm sure you Australians have something similar? After all, your country started out as a Banishment Colony for criminals of The Common Wealth, did it not?

During the mayhem, Trump tried to make a phone call to former football coach Sen. Tommy Tuberville to tell him to impede the electoral count process that was being presided by Pence. Like Giuliani often does, Trump dialed the wrong number and reached Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.

Trump had already thrown Pence under the bus who had issued a public statement before the riots started that he didn't have the power to overturn the election for Trump.

In the midst of the Capitol siege, Trump tried calling Tommy Tuberville but got the wrong senator

He should be forced to pay for the cost of that Kobach BS commission, because there were only two cases where voters voted illegally, both for Trump.

Trump made it sound like he would join his supporters in the march to the Capitol but instead went back to the White House and enjoyed it on TV.

In the midst of the Capitol siege, Trump tried calling Tommy Tuberville but got the wrong senator

    excerpt:

"Speaking at the "March to Save America" rally at the Ellipse in President's Park on Wednesday, President Trump urged a sea of supporters to march to the Capitol in protest of the Electoral College vote count -- telling the crowd he'd join them but ultimately not doing so -- after delivering a speech pushing baseless and unfounded claims that the election was rigged and telling the rowdy crowd that "you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength.""

Trump didn't explicitly tell his supporters to hang Pence, but his misinformation is part of what inflamed his supporters. Trump made it seem like Pence was the enemy for not committing an act that he couldn't do.

The fact that Pence had his family with him, who must have been terrified, and yet, he still won't invoke the 25th amendment
    is beyond comprehension

The assholes urged congress to take our fucking constitutional rights away, and trashed out every branch of government. Sorry, rights are only for billionaires these days.

It is speculated that Mike Pence and his family members may have been in the area near the House Speaker's Lobby. A group of older men, probably members of Congress, are seen in the lobby before Trump's rioters smashed the windows and tried to plow through the doors.

It appears that some of the rioters helped boost Ashli Babbitt to go through a broken window. An officer in a dark suit on the opposite side of the lobby doors shot her as she tried to enter.

In succession to Trump, the next three highest ranking officials in the U.S. government (Pence, Pelosi, and Grassley) were in the complex along with members of both the House and the Senate.

"Takes one to know one", as the saying goes. It was certainly a disgusting mob scene, so any report of it would be disgusting. But sometimes it's useful to acknowledge disgusting truths so that we can try to do something about them and prevent them from happening again. What exactly did you find so disgusting about the post? Seems to me it was a factual account of what happened. It's really unfortunate, tragic in fact, that Ms. Babbitt was shot while trying to climb through the window during the invasion attempting to overthrow our democracy, but that's the risks of participating in a seditious mob. The really tragic thing is that nice women like her were so duped by vicious, unprincipled demagogues.
Not incredibly dumb at all. A mob broke into the Capitol building where he, along with the rest of Congress and the first and second line of succession to the U.S presidency, were sheltering in place. So he was more immediately threatened and so was our government.

Speaking of disgusting, I find it disgusting that you, an outsider Aussie who has been helping to fan these flames in my country for years with your disinformation, continues to do so under these circumstances, including the tragic death of a duped young woman. Are things so dull in Australia and your own life that you need to meddle in our affairs?

An early Republican Trump critic feels vindicated

    excerpt:

"The former senator was lonely as a Republican critic of President Donald Trump, beginning in 2017. While most GOP lawmakers kept quiet about their concerns, Corker warned the White House had become an “adult daycare” and that Trump’s Cabinet members “help separate our country from chaos.” He even held a hearing to scrutinize the president’s power to use nuclear weapons.

Corker retired rather than run for a third term in 2018 amid a feud with Trump and potentially tough primary. But after a flood of GOP condemnation of Trump for inciting a deadly riot at the Capitol, the Tennessee Republican says he’s been vindicated.

“Nobody's perfect. You don't ever have all of the information. But I think I’ve been validated,” said Corker. “My observations about his character and his conduct certainly have been validated, unfortunately, with people's lives being lost. And our country appearing to be run by a tin pot dictator to people around the world.”"

Sen. Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania Republican, says Trump should resign and could face 'criminal liability' - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Sen. Pat Toomey said Sunday that President Donald Trump should resign from office and could face "criminal liability" after the deadly insurrection at the US Capitol, becoming the second Republican senator to call for the President's resignation.

"I think at this point, with just a few days left, it's the best path forward, the best way to get this person in the rearview mirror for us that could happen immediately," the Pennsylvania Republican told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." "I'm not optimistic it will. But I think that would be the best way forward."

Toomey joins a growing number of Republicans who want the President out of office before President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in as the next president on January 20. He is now the second Republican US senator to call for Trump's resignation. On Friday, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News, "I want him out. He has caused enough damage.""

An early Republican Trump critic feels vindicated

    excerpt:

"Corker also sees a potential silver-lining to this week’s chaos. It was costly, Corker said, but now the president has been exposed in a way that will shrink his political influence permanently.

It allowed “his true character [to be] revealed in a way that hopefully will diminish his impact on our country in the future,” Corker said. “So that is the one plus that comes out of this. People have been able to see firsthand what all of us have known, just who he really is.”"
