'Where is Pence?' Pro-Trump mob tried to hunt down vice president, lawmakers in Capitol siege.

    excerpt:

"Once the mob breached the Capitol building, one of the dozens of Trump supporters roaming the Capitol halls asked, "Where are they?" The Associated Press reports. At that point, the lawmakers were crouching on the floor of the House chamber or under tables, hiding out in secure locations, or sheltering in their offices, praying and telling their loved ones they were alive. At about 2:00 p.m., Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) were evacuated from the Senate, and police cleared the chamber about half an hour later.

"At 2:24 p.m., after Mr. Trump tweeted that Mr. Pence 'didn't have the courage to do what should have been done,' dozens of messages on Gab called for those inside the Capitol building to hunt down the vice president," the Times reports. "In videos uploaded to the channel, protesters could be heard chanting 'Where is Pence?'"

Pence, it turns out, was busy. "Throughout the day, Pence appeared to take on much of the coordination that would traditionally be led by the president in a moment of crisis," Politico reports. "In addition to speaking with defense officials about the deployment of National Guard troops, Pence fielded phone calls from Trump allies who appeared eager to erase the president from the picture." Wednesday marked "the beginning of the end" of Pence's loyalty to Trump, one Pence ally told Politico, and it "may very well be the end of his political career, too.""

VG.. it's implied. Through his speeches, his rhetoric. He chooses his wording purposely. and those words are dog whistle for his followers.
But. You really need to ask somebody who understand psychology or cult leaders and they can explain it.

‘The Protesters Are in the Building.’ Inside the Capitol Stormed by a Pro-Trump Mob
Lawmakers and aides described how a typically uneventful proceeding descended into violent tumult

‘The Protesters Are in the Building.’ Inside the Capitol Stormed by a Pro-Trump Mob

    excerpt:

"At about 2:10 p.m., a hot mic in the Senate chamber picked up ominous words told to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the Senate pro-tem.

“The protesters are in the building.”

    Mr. Grassley banged the gavel.

Soon he and Mr. Pence, who are both in the line of presidential succession, were evacuated from the chamber. Those remaining inside could hear pro-Trump rioters yelling and police screaming back, punctuated by a loud thwacking sound.

Capitol Police surrounded the Senate chamber and sealed it off. An officer holding what appeared to be a semiautomatic weapon stood on the floor between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) and Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D., N.Y.)."

‘The Protesters Are in the Building.’ Inside the Capitol Stormed by a Pro-Trump Mob

    excerpt:

"Sen. Chris Coons (D., Del.) said the officer was dressed very casually and carried the weapon in a pink and gray sling that said “police” on it. “He stood right in the middle of the aisle,” he said.

Police told senators to stand away from the doors.

Before long, police evacuated lawmakers from both the Senate and House chambers, a woman was shot and someone set off gas munitions.

In the House chamber, aides piled up furniture to block the doors, while other staff members were told to evacuate their offices, but found they couldn’t leave the buildings safely.

Rioters, dressed in MAGA hats and emboldened by encouragement from the president, swarmed the Capitol as they sought to block the ratification of Mr. Biden’s win.

The violent scene capped the bitterly fought 2020 campaign and the subsequent weeks marked by Mr. Trump’s rejection of his loss despite no evidence of widespread fraud. At a midday rally, Mr. Trump encouraged protesters to march to the Capitol and “take back our country.”"

McConnell circulates procedures for second Senate impeachment trial of Trump

    excerpt:

"Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday circulated to colleagues a memo outlining the procedure for holding another trial for President Trump if the House impeaches him for a second time in just over a year.

The document, which was first reported by The Washington Post, lays out how the Senate would proceed if the House approves articles of impeachment and transmits them to the upper chamber before or by Jan. 19, when senators are scheduled to resume regular business after the January recess.

McConnell says the most likely scenario if the House impeaches Trump in his final 12 days in office is for the Senate to receive a message from the lower chamber notifying it of the action on on Jan. 19. That would then give the Senate the option of ordering the House managers to present those articles on the same day.

Senate Impeachment Rules require that at 1 p.m. on the day after the managers exhibit the articles, the Senate “must proceed to their consideration,” the memo states.

As a result, the Senate trial would not begin until one hour after President-elect Joe Biden takes the oath of office."

McConnell circulates procedures for second Senate impeachment trial of Trump

    excerpt:

“The Senate trial would therefore begin after President Trump’s term has expired – either one hour after its expiration on Jan. 20, or twenty-five hours after its expiration on Jan. 21,” the memo states.

The document was confirmed by a source familiar with its contents.

McConnell’s memo notes that the Senate, which is scheduled to hold pro-forma sessions until Jan. 19, the day before Biden is to take the oath of office, cannot conduct any business during those pro-forma meetings without unanimous consent.

The GOP leader notes that would preclude the Senate from acting on any articles of impeachment received from the House until Biden is president, raising an implicit question about the point of such an exercise.

“It would require the consent of all 100 senators to conduct any business of any kind during the scheduled pro forma sessions prior to January 19, and therefore the consent of all 100 senators to begin acting on any articles of impeachment during those sessions,” the memo states.

The document notes the Senate “can receive a message announcing that the House has impeached the President” while the Senate is in recess, but the Secretary of the Senate wouldn’t notify the chamber of the message until the next regular session, which is scheduled for Jan. 19.

What’s unclear is whether Chief Justice John Roberts would preside over the trial because Trump will no longer be president of the United States at 1 p.m. Jan. 20, the earliest a trial could start without consent from all 100 senators."

McConnell circulates procedures for second Senate impeachment trial of Trump

    excerpt:

"Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) told the Anchorage Daily News Friday that Trump should resign.

“I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage,” she said.

Murkowski said Trump only wants to stay in office “for the title” and has largely given up on governing.

“I think he should leave. He said he’s not going to show up. He’s not going to appear … at the inauguration. He hasn’t been focused on what is going on with COVID. He’s either been golfing or he’s been inside the Oval Office fuming and throwing every single person who has been loyal and faithful under the bus, starting with the vice president,” she said."

Moscow Mitch issued a memo to the senate today indicating they won’t take up the issue of impeachment until January 19th

So basically he’s going to leave it in the hands of Chuck Schumer the next Senate majority leader.
