Apple and Google face pressure to deplatform Parler over calls to violence excerpt: "Activist group Sleeping Giants had called on both Apple and Google to ban Parler from their app stores in response to posts calling for violence against elected officials. As evidence, the group posted screenshots of Parler posts calling for Vice President Mike Pence to face a firing squad and encouraging “American Patriots” to return to the capital on January 19th “carrying Our weapons.”"
Some Trump officials are so horrified by the Capitol riot that they plan to refuse instructions that they think will put the US at risk, report says Sinéad Baker Fri, January 8, 2021, 8:34 AM EST Some Trump officials are so horrified by the Capitol riot that they plan to refuse instructions that they think will put the US at risk, report says excerpt: "Axios reported, paraphrasing its sources, that most of Trump's top officials now view him as "unfit and unhinged" after seeing him incite his supporters to storm the Capitol on Wednesday. Many administration officials have quit their jobs over the riot, and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao resigned from Trump's cabinet."
Perdue concedes race to Jon Ossoff, sealing control of Senate for Democrats excerpt: "With the win, Ossoff becomes the first Jewish senator from Georgia and, at age 33, will be the youngest sitting U.S. senator (and the youngest person elected to the Senate since Joe Biden, who was 29 when he was elected, in 1972). “I want to thank the people of Georgia for participating in this election, everybody who cast your ballot, everybody who put your faith and confidence in our democracy’s capacity to deliver the representation that we deserve. Whether you were for me or against me, I’ll be for you in the U.S. Senate,” Ossoff said. “I will serve all the people of the state.” As of Friday there were about 17,000 ballots untallied ballots from Georgians and military members overseas, according to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, but Ossoff has already secured enough votes to solidify his win. With 98 percent of the vote tabulated as of Friday afternoon, Ossoff leads Perdue by nearly 50,000 votes, a margin larger than the threshold required to trigger a recount under Georgia law."
The republican party is a dead shambles, the God damned chickens scattered in every direction the minute the shit hit the fan, and nobody is fooled by any of their reassurances that they actually have any control over their own damned party anymore. Right now, everybody is trying to pretend that they have everything under control. All the announcements made so far have been written by censors, worded specifically in a progressive order guaranteed to keep the chickens from exploding. Its all bullshit, but that's all you are going to get from the government right now, because nobody is quite sure we still have a government, but they're damned sure going to try and make sure we still have for the next few days at least. Hatfields and McCoy's does cut it and, if necessary, we shall hunt them all down and rebuild again, but they are attempting to avoid that for now. Not because they give a crap about America, but because politicians are more interested in saving their own asses.
The Independent of UK has an article telling Alex Jones paid $500,000.00 to fund the event at the Capitol. He also started the BS about Antifa being behind the violence when in fact it was the ignorant Qanon believers and Trump worshipers who carried out the violence. The FBI is saying there is no indication Antifa was involved. They have opened a murder investigation pursuant the death of that police officer. It seems that Trump followers beat him to death with a fire extinguisher. Also, there were many laptops stolen from the Capitol, which will be reason for an intel/national security investigation.
https://www.usnews.com/news/politic...how-trump-could-be-impeached-again-but-faster excerpt: "SENATE POLITICS Timing of a trial in the Senate is uncertain. The Senate is not set to resume full sessions until Jan. 20, which is Inauguration Day, and it’s hard to see the benefit of impeaching Trump while Biden is being sworn into office. Two-thirds of the Senate is needed to convict, and this would be unlikely even if the chamber did somehow come back in session to hold a trial and vote. While many Republican senators have disparaged Trump’s actions in the last week, several Republicans have already said they think impeachment would divide the country even further just ahead of Biden’s inauguration. Still, some Republicans have appeared open to impeachment. Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, who voted to acquit Trump last year, said he will “definitely consider” impeachment. Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who also voted to acquit, told the Anchorage Daily News on Friday that she wants Trump to resign. Only one Republican voted to convict Trump last year — Utah Sen. Mitt Romney."
Post-Riot, the Capitol Hill IT Staff Faces a Security Mess Wednesday's insurrection could have exposed congressional data and devices in ways that have yet to be appreciated. 01.07.2021 08:14 PM Post-Riot, the Capitol Hill IT Staff Faces a Security Mess excerpt: "“It’s a very, very difficult situation,” former Senate sergeant at arms Frank Larkin told WIRED on Thursday. “The place has been rattled a number of times where they’ve had to do instantaneous evacuations or shelter in place, but a scenario like this was not something that was high on the list of possibilities as far as threats. I think 1814 is the last time the Capitol experienced anything like this,” referring to the British invasion of Washington, DC, that year. Some of the remediation will involve steps that congressional security already performs as a matter of course, like extensively reviewing security camera footage from the House and Senate floor, in hallways, and other spaces to see what intruders did, including what interactions they may have had with electronics. But many spaces, including offices, are not under video surveillance. Another routine process involves sweeping for bugs, like hidden microphones or cameras. But it will take time to evaluate every room and hallway all at once, and the stakes for missing something are high."
Laptop stolen from Pelosi's office during Capitol riots excerpt: "An aide for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday that a laptop was stolen from the Speaker's office during the riots in the Capitol earlier this week, adding to existing security concerns. “A laptop from a conference room was stolen,” Drew Hammill, deputy chief of staff to Pelosi, tweeted Friday. “It was a laptop that was only used for presentations.”"
American diplomats sign 'dissent cable' over Trump remarks as White House fires official who said Trump must 'go' excerpt: "More than 100 U.S. diplomats have signed a cable to protest President Donald Trump's remarks that led to the ransacking of the Capitol building Wednesday, according to three sources familiar with the cable. This rare use of the dissent channel, a formal procedure for diplomats to protest U.S. policy straight to the State Department's leadership, comes as America's image suffers a blow from the violent scenes in Washington, where Trump encouraged his supporters to interrupt the symbolic vote in Congress that ratified his opponent Joe Biden's victory. But they are not the only ones speaking up. A Trump appointee at the agency, Gabriel Noronha tweeted that Trump "needs to go" for fomenting "an insurrectionist mob that attacked the Capitol" and taking "every opportunity to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power.""
Black woman says group of Trump supporters attacked her excerpt: "A Black woman in California said a group of nearly 40 pro-Trump demonstrators attacked her and called her the n-word following a rally in downtown Los Angeles. Police said they are investigating the incident as a hate crime after speaking with the woman. "The woman has been identified & interviewed by the LAPD. Based on her statements & other evidence, a hate crime/battery report was taken," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement on Twitter. The woman, Berlinda, 25, said she was walking when she saw the large group on Wednesday, according to NBC Los Angeles, which noted that she asked that her last name not be used. Earlier in the day, a protest was held, with many demonstrators carrying "Stop the Steal" signs."
Black woman says group of Trump supporters attacked her excerpt: "Berlinda said that several people in the group told her to take her face mask off. She told NBC Los Angeles that the crowd started following her after she flipped them off. "A bunch of women and men started yelling, 'take off your mask, don't wear a mask,'" she said, telling the outlet that she asked one man in the group to leave her alone. "And that's when the guy went and took his hand, clawed me in the face. And then just smacked my phone in my face." Berlinda said others shoved her and she was called a racial slur. The assault was captured by photographer Raquel Natalicchio, 29. She told NBC News in an interview Thursday that she saw Berlinda walking by herself and heard the protesters heckling her and asking if she voted for President Donald Trump. It is unclear whether all those shown in Natalicchio’s photos were involved in the alleged assault."
