Hitler's loyalists were extremely repulsive, but Donald Duck is somewhere between Hitler and Idi Amin Dada, making it difficult to assess.

Trump supporters apparently mean cavalry, not calvary.

Then again, perhaps they do mean calvary.

    Definition of CALVARY

    Definition of calvary

    (Entry 1 of 2)
1 : an open-air representation of the crucifixion of Jesus
2 : an experience of usually intense mental suffering

Trump's remark gives the impression that he is trying to prep people for Perdue and Loeffler losing the runoff election, similar to the psychology job he did on the public before his election loss by making accusations of voter fraud.

Trump visited Nashville after the tornadoes in March 2020. But that was before the election.

The final presidential debate in 2020 was in Nashville.

Now Nashville doesn't seem important to Trump.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It’s a cult alright. here are some excerpts from the vanity fair article

“They love Trump because he makes them feel like insiders even as they imagine him their outsider champion. Trump is on a mission from God to expose (and destroy) the hidden demons of the deep state.”

“To attend a Trump rally is to engage directly in the ecstasy of knowing what the great man knows, divinity disguised as earthly provocation”

Many followers justify his abuses of power, by declaring Trump a modern King David, a sinner nonetheless anointed, while others compare him to Queen Esther, destined to save Israel—or at least the evangelical imagination of it—from Iran. Still others draw parallels to Cyrus, the Old Testament Persian king who became a tool for God’s will. “A vessel for God,”

Many Trump supporters believe that the Democratic establishment primarily serves as a cover for child sex trafficking and run a “deep state” coup against Trump. “Perverts and murderers,” said a woman in Bossier City. But Trump knew the names of all the guilty parties and was preparing their just deserts. The president himself, in speech after speech, intimates that Judgment Day is coming. In Hershey, Pennsylvania, he spoke of “illegals,” hacking and raping and bludgeoning, “relentlessly beating a wonderful, beautiful high school teenager to death with a baseball bat and chopping the body apart with a machete.”

And that, he added, was only what he could reveal. There was more, he said, much, much more. Believe me"

Mike Love always was an asshole.
This wasn't the Beach Boys just one idiot from the group.

Brian Wilson and Al Jardine issued a press release condemning him.

Donald Trump and Josh Hawley set off Republican meltdown with Georgia elections looming - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski defended Thune and called it "dispiriting" that Trump was "working to pit Republican against Republican." She also expressed frustration that the President was complicating life for Republicans who had stood by him throughout his term.

"I think it's quite interesting that he has demanded a loyalty test from so many Republicans and then when they are loyal to him -- and there is one incident, one statement -- and he is the first one to throw those loyal individuals under the bus," Murkowski told CNN. "That's not loyalty as I know loyalty," added the Alaska Republican, who's no stranger to internecine contests, having been defeated in a 2010 GOP primary only to win another term in a write-in campaign that year.

It is, however, precisely how Trump understands the concept -- as a one-way street, with fidelity to him a requirement demanding precisely nothing in return. For his part, Thune on Friday shrugged off Trump's tweet, asking reporters as he left the Capitol, "What took him so long?""

Trump lashed out at Murkowski when she sided with Mattis.

    excerpt:

"Late Thursday, Trump lashed out at Murkowski on Twitter, promising to campaign against her in Alaska in 2022 when she faces reelection. “Get any candidate ready, good or bad, I don’t care, I’m endorsing. If you have a pulse, I’m with you!” he wrote."

Trump's hypersensitivity is showing how easy it is to make him insignificant. A few Republicans not agreeing with him sends him into a rage. A modest group of Republicans disagreeing with him would crumble him like an eggshell.

Federal judge dismisses election lawsuit against Pence.

Federal Judge Dismisses Election Lawsuit Against Pence

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit led by President Trump’s allies in Congress that aimed to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the results of the election, dealing a blow to lawmakers’ last-ditch effort to challenge President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory.

Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle of the Eastern District of Texas ruled that Republican lawmakers, led by Representative Louie Gohmert of Texas, lacked the proper standing to sue Mr. Pence in the matter. The lawsuit challenged the more than century-old law that governs the Electoral College process, in an attempt to expand an otherwise ceremonial role into one with the power to reject electoral votes that were cast for Mr. Biden."

After seeing all the Republican infighting after the election to the point of making accusations of treason and threatening execution, imagine a second term of Trump.

Yes, Trump has to poll his following to see if he should attend Biden's inauguration. He is a populist and conforms to the prevailing mood of his following.

Trump could have avoided all of this political mess by conceding a few days after the election.

McConnell has at least some sense and realizes that the turmoil caused by Republicans in Congress latching on to cheap political tricks by Trump could damage the party in the 2022 midterms and the 2024 presidential election.

McConnell is assuming that at least one Republican will win in the runoff Senate election in Georgia. Republicans may not even control the Senate in 2021, making McConnell's feared damage immediate.
