I have nothing against the PEOPLE of Iran - just their autocratic government.

In most countries - the majority of the citizens ARE NOT the problem. It's the FEW power & money-hungry autocratic "leaders" (?) who want to throw their weight around and be the "boss" of everybody & everything. Those types are where the problem lies.

Trump has tried to blame the COVID disease on something else to try to make it appear that the coronavirus affects almost no one.

Yet he wants to take credit for the development of a vaccine for a disease that he says harms just about nobody.

Arterial wall cells offer insight into coronavirus’ rampage from head to toe

Arterial wall cells offer insight into coronavirus’ rampage from head to toe | NHLBI, NIH

    excerpt:

"But when endothelial cells encounter the coronavirus, things can turn ugly. In a Sept. 3 commentary in the European Heart Journal external link , Libby and a colleague described what might be happening. They believe that once the virus enters the lungs, it invades the cells in the air sacs that transfer oxygen to the blood. This activates the endothelial cells that are lined up like cobblestones to protect the tiny blood vessels surrounding the sacs. Together with immune cells, the endothelial cells release a host of signaling molecules, including interleukins, which damage the very barrier they created around the air sacs. As a result, protein rich fluid accumulates in the air sacs, causing low blood oxygen, a hallmark of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which Libby said is the reason why many people with severe COVID-19 can’t breathe.

While Libby and his colleagues scramble to learn more, physician-scientists at Yale have been scratching their heads, trying to understand why COVID-19 is causing all kinds of blood clotting events–-stroke, deep vein thrombosis, even “COVID toes,” an itchy, red-purple rash on the toes of people with the disease."

Clots, Strokes and Rashes: Is COVID a Disease of the Blood Vessels?

Clots, Strokes and Rashes: Is COVID a Disease of the Blood Vessels?

    excerpt:

"“The very functions that help us maintain health and fight off invaders, when they run out of control, then it can actually make the disease worse,” Libby said.

In that case, the endothelial cells turn against their host and start to promote clotting and high blood pressure.

“In COVID-19 patients, we have both of these markers of dysfunction,” said Dr. Gaetano Santulli, a cardiologist and researcher at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.

The novel coronavirus triggers a condition seen in other cardiovascular diseases called endothelial dysfunction. Santulli, who wrote about this idea in the spring, said that may be the “cornerstone” of organ dysfunction in COVID patients.

“The common denominator in all of these COVID-19 patients is endothelial dysfunction,” he said. “It’s like the virus knows where to go and knows how to attack these cells.”"

Clots, Strokes And Rashes. Is COVID-19 A Disease Of The Blood Vessels?

    excerpt:

""The endothelial cells get leaky, so instead of being like Saran Wrap, it turns into a sieve and then it allows fluid from the bloodstream to accumulate in the airspaces," Harvard's Libby says.

Doctors who treat COVID-19 are now keenly aware that complications such as strokes and heart problems can appear, even after a patient gets better and their breathing improves.

"They are off oxygen, they can be discharged home, but their vasculature is not completely resolved, they still have inflammation," he says. "What can happen is they develop a blood clot, and they have a massive pulmonary embolism."

Patients can be closely monitored for these problems, but one of the big unknowns for doctors and patients are the long-term effects of COVID-19 on the circulatory system.

The Angiogenesis Foundation's Li puts it this way: "The virus enters your body and it leaves your body. You might or might not have gotten sick. But is that leaving behind a trashed vascular system?""

There's a lovely little incurable disease of the blood - its called THROMBOCYTOPENIA (Google it) which for three years caused havoc, necessitating (a) a week's stay in hospital, (b) Two lots of weekly blood tests, (c) four weeks of chemotherapy and three years of weekly injections in the stomach.

Whether it's the election or the coronavirus, Trump and his people continue to deny reality and move the goal posts.

Inside the Right-Wing Media Bubble, Where the Myth of a Trump Win Lives On

    excerpt:

"Inside this bubble, the president’s allies present virtually impossible outcomes as completely plausible. They raise expectations of victory in unwinnable lawsuits and battles over electors that state legislators are unwilling to have. They bolster the credibility of questionable witnesses and advocates whose most important qualification is an unequivocal conviction that Mr. Trump won in November, despite all available evidence.

And then when they don’t meet the bar they set, they move it.

This is what the president’s senior adviser, Stephen Miller, demonstrated on Monday when he insisted in an interview on “Fox & Friends" that the Electoral College vote was largely irrelevant because all that truly mattered was Inauguration Day, Jan. 20.

“So we have more than enough time to right the wrong of this fraudulent election result and certify Donald Trump as the winner,” Mr. Miller said, resetting the calendar to another scheme to invalidate the votes of millions of Americans, because the previous one had flopped."

The right-wing fringe media and the public which has an insatiable appetite for it have formed a positive feedback loop. It has turned into a mental disorder

The fringe Fox isn't even good enough anymore. Trump and his following have been turning to outlets like One America News and Newsmax and threatening to start up their own media outlet where any fantasy can be told to their heart's delight.

Inside the Right-Wing Media Bubble, Where the Myth of a Trump Win Lives On

    excerpts:

"Far-fetched tales of vast, subversive networks of infiltrators have a long history in the Republican Party. Ms. Powell’s claims that Cuba, Venezuela and China are behind a plot to install rigged voting machines in the United States have echoes of the anti-communist paranoia that was promoted in the 1960s by the John Birch Society and Phyllis Schlafly, considered by many to be the matriarch of the conservative movement.

Yochai Benkler, a professor at Harvard Law School who helped write “Network Propaganda,” a study on the right-wing media’s influence on politics, said the difference between the days of the John Birch Society and today was a matter of scale. “What you didn’t get then was the same market exposure,” he said. “You didn’t have tens of millions of voters exposed.”

And the fringe never, of course, enjoyed the support of the sitting president."

I understand what you are saying; however, Iran has a real and genuine Democratic government with true Democratic elections. The people do vote. That's how Ahmedinejat lost. Their religious council has final say sort of like our supreme court. They vote on matters which might conflict with religious law. But, it is their country. When I think of Autocratic, I think of places like Saudi Arabia, where they kill journalists, and anyone else who stands up to the ruler.

Trump and his handlers are still promoting this early 1960's Cold War narrative, labeling Biden as a radical communist and claiming communist infiltration of the 2020 election.

That's crazy but I also saw in the news today that a woman in Arizona made up a fake certificate of electors and used it to submit Arizona's electoral college votes for Trump. In Michigan people were talking about a military style attack on the electors and in Georgia some dumb Republican was calling for Flynn's martial law idea to keep Trump in power. I think what we are seeing is a large number of Republicans who suffer from the after effects of long term Meth use. Biden's new AG needs to track these morons down and get the off OUR streets.

One of Trump's lawyers just told the people of Georgia to "stash 2nd supplies to get ready for the future under Biden." We need a new AG to go after these Trump scumbags.

The assassination of Khashoggi is a blatant example. He was murdered and apparently dismembered while trying to obtain marriage documents at a consulate in Turkey which is supposed to be a safe haven. Trump made public statements apologetic to Saudi Arabia after his own intelligence officials stated the involvement of Saudi elements in the heinous crime.

Trump has taken a similar apologetic stance on other incidents, such as the plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan which was fueled by his incessant disparaging of her and his encouraging of people in MI to rebel against her. Instead of condemning such a plot, Trump made a statement questioning whether it was factual.

After behaving like that, Trump wondered why he lost Michigan by 155,000 votes. He concocted a narrative that the votes were fraudulent due to a conspiracy of Democrats like Whitmer. His cases failed in the courts. His attorney Jenna Ellis concocted another conspiracy that the courts are 'activist judicial machinery' that are trying to hide Trump's alleged conspiracy.
