    excerpt:

"Wisconsin Attorney General Joshua L. Kaul (D) said that agreeing to the Texas request would thrust the Supreme Court into the political sphere in a way never imagined.

“If Texas’s theory of injury were accepted, it would be too easy to reframe virtually any election or voting rights dispute as implicating injuries to a state and thereby invoke this court’s original jurisdiction,” he wrote.

“New York or California could sue Texas or Alabama in this court over their felon-disenfranchisement policies. Garden-variety election disputes would soon come to the court in droves,” he wrote.

The states said Texas’s claims were hypocritical and cynical. Although Texas said in a filing that it “does not ask this court to reelect President Trump,” the suit does not ask the court to discount the votes in any state Trump won where state officials and courts had altered voting procedures because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Among those states are Texas itself, where the governor made changes."

FDA approves Pfizer vaccine for emergency use.

F.D.A. Advisory Panel Gives Green Light to PfizerVaccine

    excerpt:

"The initial shipment of 6.4 million doses will leave warehouses within 24 hours of being cleared by the F.D.A., according to federal officials. About half of those doses will be sent across the country, and the other half will be reserved for the initial recipients to receive their second dose about three weeks later.

The arrival of the first vaccines is the beginning of a complex, monthslong distribution plan coordinated by federal and local health authorities, as well as large hospitals and pharmacy chains, that if successful, will help return a grieving and economically depressed country back to some semblance of normal, maybe by summer."

Reagan saved your asses from ending up the same as South America

You'll have Biden as President in your lifetimes, he'll be the worst, 4 years where nothing gets done

I noticed the Joe Biden Scorecard thread has disappeared

So, I'm guessing after Jan 20th we are all just going to pretend everything magically got better

All three of trump's picks Barrett, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh voted against hearing the suit.

You're right nothing will get done over the next four years, but that's only if the democrats don't win the Georgia Senate run-offs.

If we win the Senate Biden can do great things, If not well, at least Biden can override and reverse every bad decision made by the trump.administration

Newsmax broadcasters are losing their minds over SCOTUS decision

Newsmax Turns on Trump’s SCOTUS Picks After Texas Ruling

First off, it’s not over,” a distressed Greg Kelly said at the top of his Newsmax broadcast Friday night.
“The Supreme Court did turn down the Texas case,” he lamented. But before getting to the details,
he made sure to give his viewers more false hope, saying, “We have the situation in Pennsylvania that has
not been settled. We have Georgia that has not been settled, we have Michigan that has not been settled.

What seemed most shocking to the Trump-defending network was that Justices Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh
and Neil Gorsuch sided with the liberals on the Supreme Court to reject what Kelly at one point started to call
“our” lawsuit, before correcting himself. At another point, the anchor said, “This would seem to be a 7-to-2 decision against us.”

Note: it was actually 9-0 decision, Justice's Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas only wanted to hear the arguments,
but refused to grant relief asked by the state of texas

Fox News Is Starting to Feel the Pain of Life After Trump
As Newsmax ekes out its first ratings win over Fox and CNN maintains a lead in Nielsen ratings for the first time in nearly two decades, the network is facing rare competition for its audience.

Fox News Is Starting to Feel the Pain of Life After Trump

    excerpt:

"Trump loyalists have instead turned to alt-reality proponents such as Greg Kelly, who began his Tuesday night Newsmax program by telling viewers that “paths to victory remain” for Trump, according to CNN’s Brian Stelter, who notes “Fox is still four times higher-rated than Newsmax at any given time of day” but is nevertheless “down from its pre-election highs while Newsmax is way up.” The ratings drop-off may also reflect the cable news fallout from Trump being voted out. As the tides have shifted, apparently so has incentive to tune in, now that Fox is no longer interlinked with Trump’s policy moves. Without that power, the network, like Trump himself, could increasingly fade into irrelevance."

Even Fox can no longer satisfy the insatiable appetite of a deranged segment of the American public for highly opinionated fringe stories that confirm its delusions.

The public is now turning to increasingly fringe outlets like Newsmax.

Wisconsin Supreme Court to hear Trump's case.

    https://www.usnews.com/news/politic...rns-to-court-in-wisconsin-as-time-running-out

    excerpt:

"But Trump is now getting a chance to argue the merits of the case before the court controlled 4-3 by conservatives.

He suffered a total defeat in a lower court on Friday, with Reserve Judge Stephen Simanek ruling against every argument Trump made challenging ballots in the state's two largest counties, saying the election was properly administered and that there was no wrongdoing as the president alleged.

“The bottom line here is that the court should do everything to ensure that the will of the voters prevail,” the judge said.

Trump quickly appealed the ruling. Trump's attorneys asked for a ruling no later than Jan. 6 when Congress meets to approve the Electoral College votes. Trump contends that is the “real deadline” for judicial action to overturn Wisconsin's electoral votes."

    excerpt:

"Also Friday, Republican-controlled committees in the state Legislature held an invite-only public hearing to accept testimony about the election. Republicans asked mainly conservative partisans to speak, including a Milwaukee talk radio host, but not the state's top elections official or the head of elections in the city or county of Milwaukee. Democrats decried the hearing as a farce and stopped participating after about three hours of testimony."

Extra security on hand for the electoral college vote on Dec. 14 would be advisable.

Electoral College vote nears as Trump attacks come with little risk

    excerpt:

    'Electoral McCarthyism'

Foley characterized the president’s continuing election challenges as akin to “electoral McCarthyism."

“He certainly shouldn’t be pursuing litigation, if he had an ounce of patriotism in him,” Foley said. “Elections are to be decided by the will of the people. Everything he is doing is antithetical to that.”

While Foley said he was not aware of any meaningful legal consequences for Trump’s pursuit, it should not absolve him of potential political risk.

“The kind of conduct he has engaged in, I believe, is an abuse of office more egregious than (the conduct resulting in his impeachment),” Foley said. “It should be perceived as disqualifying in 2024.”

The U.S. coronavirus death toll may reach 500,000 within the next two to three months.

Trump and his following seem to have given up on denying death toll predictions after the reality of the current autumn surge set in, which they had previously denied would happen.

A few of the Trump faithful have contradicted themselves by now saying that the death toll may be even worse than the predictions that they once denied, seemingly frustrated and not knowing what to say anymore.

U.S. remains in top spot for new COVID cases

    excerpt:

"More than 292,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 so far, according to tracking from Johns Hopkins University, meaning that at the current rate the country is likely to officially cross the 300,000 dead threshold early next week. CDC Director Robert Redfield said Thursday that he expected “probably for the next 60 to 90 days we’re going to have more deaths per day than we had at 9/11.”

If Redfield is correct in his estimate, that would add another 180,000 to 270,000 total to the dead, surpassing half a million lost to the virus."

U.S. remains in top spot for new COVID cases

    excerpt:

"President Trump in recent days has been focusing on his attempts to overturn the results of President-elect Joe Biden’s election. His most recent tweets on COVID-19 are about getting credit for the vaccines that are about to begin distribution in the U.S.

Congress, in the meantime, is attempting to settle on a deal for another COVID-19 relief bill, having failed to pass any follow-up to March’s CARES Act. Two important deadlines loom that could exacerbate the problems of millions of Americans: A federal eviction moratorium is set to expire on Dec. 31, which could result in many losing their homes, and extended unemployment benefits put in place by the CARES Act end on Dec. 26, potentially cutting off the only remaining income streams for those who’ve lost their jobs due to the economic downturn caused by the virus."
