SEVEN states have now joined Texas lawsuit, arguing that the Equal Protection Clause has been violated in this election from state-to-state. Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, South Dakota. UPDATE: To reiterate: Re PA case, Alito denied the emergency relief. They have not ruled yet on the writ of certiorari, that is what will determine if they hear the case.
Maybe with some luck a couple more states would turn to blue. I liked Jon Tester but Montana went more to the red with Greg Gianforte as governor. It's a safe bet to say Arizona is blue now since both senators are Democrats. The Republican governors of Arizona and Georgia have showed us good sense by standing up to Trump. With any luck he'll go to prison and we'll have a wonderful four years.
Paxton is a hardcore Trump ally trying to do him a favor during his final weeks in office. Paxton is attempting to make his suit have legal standing in the Supreme Court by saying that control of the U.S. Senate is involved in the 2020 presidential election. He says that the U.S. Senate represents the states and that states are affected by which party controls the U.S. Senate, which is contingent upon whether Biden wins or loses in the 2020 election. A Biden win and two wins for the Democrats in the two upcoming runoff elections in Georgia would give control of the Senate to the Democrats because the vice president would cast the tie-breaking vote. If Biden doesn't win, or if at least one Democratic Senate candidate in Georgia loses, the Republicans will control the U.S. Senate. Texas sues four battleground states in Supreme Court over 'unlawful election results' in 2020 presidential race excerpt: "Experts in election law were also quick to dismiss the likelihood of the nine Supreme Court justices taking the case. Paul Smith, a professor at Georgetown University Law Center who has argued voting rights cases at the Supreme Court, said the case was “wacko.” “There is a whole system in Pennsylvania and the other states for contesting the election — that’s all been done,” said Smith, who also serves as vice president of litigation and strategy at the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center. “I don’t think the Supreme Court will have interest in this.” The professor added that Texas could run into trouble in proving that it has grounds to sue, known in legal terms as “standing.” “It’s totally unprecedented, the idea that one state would, at the Supreme Court, claim that other states’ votes were cast in the wrong way — that’s never happened,” he said. “What is the injury to the state of Texas because Pennsylvania’s votes were cast for Mr. Biden instead of Mr. Trump? There is no connection there.” Rick Hasen, an election law expert at the University of California, Irvine, wrote on his popular legal blog that the suit was “utter garbage” and also disputed the idea that Texas had standing, noting that “it has no say over how other states choose electors.”"
I think Texas will be blue before Montana. The biggest threat to the republican party is the future demographic makeup of the country.
Trump conducts another praise-fest for himself and doesn't mention the nearly 300,000 U.S. coronavirus deaths. Trump's 'Warp Speed' vaccine summit zooms into alternative reality | David Smith's sketch excerpt: "It was the latest of Biden’s team unveilings in his home city of Wilmington, Delaware. Speaking against a blue “Office of the president-elect” backdrop, he said bleakly: “Last week, Covid-19 was the number one cause of death in America. “For Black, Latino, and Native Americans – who are nearly three times as likely to die from it – Covid-19 is a mass casualty. For families and friends left behind, it’s a gaping hole in your heart that will never be fully healed.” Over in Washington, in the south court auditorium in the White House grounds, Trump spoke against a less subtle backdrop of stars and stripes icons and “Operation Warp Speed” written in block letters. His vaccine summit had been dismissed as a public relations stunt amid embarrassing reports that his administration passed on buying additional doses of Pfizer’s vaccine. Despite a daily death toll that now rivals that of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks, Trump began by taking a victory lap, praising Vice-President Mike Pence for doing “an absolutely incredible” job at the head of the coronavirus taskforce. “Stand up, Mike. Great job!” Applause."
Dude, the SCOTUS is not going to overturn an election in which 80 million votes were cast for the victor. You called Joe Biden a pedophile but you have no problem defending trump, who is accused numerous times of rape. Furthermore, it is a fact that trump had sex with a pornstar while his wife was pregnant. WTF is wrong with you, and your ilk? Don't tell us you're a Christian.
Governors had a 21% better approval rating than Trump for handling the coronavirus. Trump is still puzzled as to why state officials did so much better than he did in the election. He blames it on elections that were rigged against him but not against those state officials. Trump's coronavirus approval rating underwater in key states, surveys find excerpt: "Asked about who they trust more in general, governors on average held about a 20 point advantage over Trump among those surveyed in the swing states — 57 percent versus 36 percent. Governors also beat Trump by an approximate two-to-one margin with respect to who these key voters trust to reopen their state economies. 61 percent of those surveyed say they trust their state’s executive to take charge compared with 33 percent who place their faith in the president. And despite the fact that several battleground states have recently been home to protests urging the immediate reopening of the country, the surveys show that an average of 67 percent of participants hold a negative view of these protests. A majority also believes that social distancing practices must remain in place. "
You do realize the only reason Ken Paxton the Texas AG filed this lawsuit is because he's currently under indictment and investigation by the FBI for various crimes which could land him in prison for up to 99 years. He knows it doesn't stand a chance, but it will get him noticed by the white house. It's nothing more than a publicity campaign to get pardoned by Trump.
