Assange lawyer says she saw Trump ally offer to arrange pardon By Andrew MacAskill September 18, 2020 8:23 AM Assange lawyer says she saw Trump ally offer to arrange pardon excerpts: "LONDON (Reuters) - A lawyer for Julian Assange told a London court on Friday that she was present when an ally of U.S. President Donald Trump offered to arrange a pardon for the WikiLeaks founder in return for information that would “benefit President Trump politically”" “The proposal put forward by Congressman Rohrabacher was that Mr. Assange identify the source for the 2016 election publications in return for some form of pardon, assurance or agreement, which would both benefit President Trump politically and prevent U.S. indictment and extradition,” Robinson said. Assange’s legal team first said at hearings in February that Rohrabacher had conveyed a pardon offer to Assange. At the time, the White House called the assertion that Trump had tried to reach a deal with Assange “a complete fabrication and a total lie”. Rohrabacher said he had never spoken with the president about Assange, denied being sent on Trump’s behalf and said he was acting on his own when he offered to ask Trump for a pardon for Assange. Robinson said Rohrabacher’s offer was presented to Assange as a “win-win” solution that would allow Assange “to get on with his life” and in return would also politically benefit Trump."
Exclusive: Internal documents show officials waved red flags before Trump's Tulsa rally By Bob Cusack 09/16/20 06:00 AM EDT Exclusive: Internal documents show officials waved red flags before Trump's Tulsa rally excerpt: "Five days before the event, in a separate email to Tulsa Health Department Director Bruce Dart, Wendelboe wrote: “I’m not sure of any instance where we would hold a public event and say, ‘...and by the way, there is a chance that attending this could lead to a minimum of two deaths.’” Wendelboe referred questions about his warnings to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The Trump campaign had anticipated a crowded event at Tulsa’s BOK Center and had set up a stage outside the event for speeches in addition to the main event that was held inside. Instead, perhaps in part because of the worries of the coronavirus at the time, only 6,200 people attended the rally, where Trump spoke for roughly 100 minutes. It’s unclear how many coronavirus cases can be linked to the rally, though two weeks after it took place, Dart said it had “more than likely contributed” to a jump in cases. Dart on June 13 had called for the rally to be postponed. Herman Cain, who ran for president in 2012, attended the event but did not wear a mask. He was hospitalized nearly two weeks later and died of complications from COVID-19 on July 30 at the age of 74. Trump this summer said he doesn’t believe Cain contracted the virus at the rally, where masks were not mandated and few wore them. A half-dozen staffers working on the advance team for the rally tested positive for COVID-19 and were immediately quarantined, according to a June statement from the Trump campaign."
Trump goes on another unhinged rant about what he perceives as upcoming massive voter fraud and abruptly ends the briefing right after mentioning Puerto Rico three years after the hurricane hit. 31 minute mark:
A journalist asked Trump about his election fraud claims as he walked away, "Is it still a scam if you win?"
The answer is no. Trump has already ordained the outcome of the 2020 election. He's the winner unless the election is rigged. He won't be fighting for election fairness on behalf of Biden if Biden loses. Trump remark while visiting Wisconsin: "The only way we're going to lose this election is if this election is rigged."
If he wins it means the Republicans were successful in stopping the coup. They live in an echo chamber. They refuse to believe there is any difference of opinion. Everyone they know is voting for Trump so all of America must be. They don't think that people who have similar views on life are usually friends. For example you might know a lot of Patriot fans since you love the team and make it an important part of your life but that does not mean everyone loved Tom Brady? Quite the opposite actuly. He has a lot of haters who think he's a rotten cheater. How many Trump voters will you find on a college campus? By the Republicans own admission college is not a place for them. Their ideas are not welcome. But does this mean everyone is voting for Biden? The freshman in the dorms only talk about him so I guess it's true. The Republicans are at a point where they are willing to sacrifice democracy because democracy little by little erases their polices. Most Americans don't want them.
A Deal on Drug Prices Undone by White House Insistence on ‘Trump Cards’ By Jonathan Martin and Maggie Haberman Sept. 18, 2020 Updated 5:59 p.m. ET A Deal on Drug Prices Undone by White House Insistence on ‘Trump Cards’ excerpts: "Then the agreement collapsed. The breaking point, according to four people familiar with the discussions: Mark Meadows, Mr. Trump’s chief of staff, insisted the drug makers pay for $100 cash cards that would be mailed to seniors before November — “Trump Cards,” some in the industry called them. Some of the drugmakers bridled at being party towhat they feared would be seen as an 11th-hour political boost for Mr. Trump, the people familiar with the matter said. White House officials insist they didn’t plan to emblazon the president’s name on the cards, which they envisioned sending to tens of millions of Americans to use for prescriptions. Mr. Trump, of course, has a long history of branding everything from skyscrapers to stimulus checks." "With the president’s response to the coronavirus widely criticized, the White House has grasped for other ways to impress voters. In recent days, Mr. Trump has extended a ban on offshore oil drilling off the coast of Southern states, unveiled a multibillion dollar aid package for hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico, some of whose residents have migrated to must-win Florida, announced another $14 billion in aid to farmers and plunged into Middle East peacemaking."
Trump couldn't remember that he had said he has one of the best memories in the world. Donald Trump wanted to keep this video deposition secret. We got a copy.
Trump on whether FBI Director Wray could be replaced: 'We're looking at a lot of different things' excerpt: "President Trump hinted Friday that Christopher Wray’s role as FBI director could be in jeopardy following his testimony before Congress earlier this week regarding Russian election interference and domestic security threats. “We’re looking at a lot of different things,” Trump told reporters at the White House when asked if he could look to replace Wray. “I did not like his answers yesterday and I’m not sure he liked them either. I’m sure that he probably would agree with me.”"
Bill Barr and Trump have been parroting each other's rhetoric. So, What's the Deal with Bill Barr? ElectoralVote excerpt: "Attorney General Bill Barr has been a busy bee this week, giving a speech at Hillsdale College, and sitting for several interviews, including a primetime hit with CNN's Wolf Blitzer. And in case you thought he couldn't get any more Trumpy, he uncorked at least half a dozen real doozies: In the remark that is getting the most attention, which came during the Hillsdale speech, Barr railed against the various measures taken to contain COVID-19, declaring "You know, putting a national lockdown, stay-at-home orders, is like house arrest. Other than slavery, which was a different kind of restraint, this is the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history." Yikes. Apparently the AG is unfamiliar with such incidents as the Alien and Sedition Acts, the Trail of Tears, forced sterilization of the mentally impaired, the Palmer Raids, Japanese internment, the McCarthy hearings, and, for that matter, the military draft (which may have had public support, at least some of the time, but is still a major infringement on civil liberties). It would seem that Barr is also unaware that white people do not get to make "this is nearly as bad as slavery" comparisons ever, under any circumstances, full stop. You may recall that the AG is supposed to remain above the political fray. Certainly Barr has heard that, since he told the Chicago Tribune reporter who was interviewing him that "As an attorney general, I'm not supposed to get into politics." Once that was out of the way, Barr promptly opined that if Joe Biden is elected, Americans are going to "find ourselves irrevocably committed to the socialist path." Barr also proposed that Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan should be arrested and charged with a felony for allowing protests in her city this summer. In addition, the AG feels that some protesters should be charged with sedition. Apparently, he is also unfamiliar with the distinction between "protest" and "openly encouraging insurrection." While speaking with Blitzer, Barr parroted nearly all of Donald Trump's talking points about voting by mail, most notably saying that "Elections that have been held with mail have found substantial fraud and coercion ... For example, we indicted someone in Texas, 1,700 ballots collected, he—from people who could vote, he made them out and voted for the person he wanted to. OK?" This is a falsehood, and Barr knows that perfectly well. Barr also opined, during his speech, that you cannot trust the Justice Department's career prosecutors because they are at the bottom of the pyramid. In that way, he said without a hint of irony, they are like preschoolers. The implication, of course, is that political appointees (like Barr) should be making all the prosecutorial decisions, like how easy to take it on Roger Stone or Michael Flynn. We try our best to be fair around here, but none of this is normal, none of this is good for the democracy, and none of this is acceptable from the highest-ranking law enforcement official in the land."
Barr is confused on that claim. AG Barr’s claim of 1,700 fraudulent ballots in 2017 Dallas City Council race not true, prosecutor says excerpt: "“This wasn’t a question of voter fraud; instead, this was political operatives trying to scam candidates into buying their services,” he said. “The candidates in the race, who I know and are both completely honest, didn’t fall for it.” The investigators never found evidence of widespread voter fraud, Chatham said, and the returned ballots were consistent with the voter’s choice."
