Trump is still calling for Big Ten college football to return and for states and schools to reopen while flouting his own virus guidelines,

Trump twists history of Churchill and FDR to cover up pandemic denialism - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"At his evening rally, he called on Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, to "open up" her state. He urged schools to reopen and called for Big Ten college football to come back, cherry picking science about the impact of the virus on kids and ignoring their potential to infect their elders who are more at risk of complications.

This was despite growing signs of the danger posed to teachers -- three of whom recently died from Covid-19 complications. He disregarded 40,000 cases of Covid-19 already recorded in higher education with many institutions canceling football games and in-person classes. The administration has not furnished a national plan to help schools go back safely, other than US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines on reopening. It has also threatened to defund schools that don't get kids back in class.

Flying to Michigan to greet several thousand maskless supporters packed together exemplified his defiance of his own government's guidelines for battling the pandemic. And Trump's admission to Woodward that he knew the virus was transmitted through the air back in February is training fresh scrutiny on his decision to hold a string of rallies through February and early March."

Trump held a rally in late June 2020 in AZ with about 3000 students packed together without masks in an indoor facility. At the time, AZ was experiencing record high numbers of new coronavirus cases.

He would likely justify his cavalier attitude by saying he didn't want to scare them about the virus.

Trump is still spouting his remark about sweeping the forest floors.

Trump to visit California after weeks of remaining largely silent on historically devastating wildfires

Western wildfires: Trump to visit California after weeks of remaining largely silent on the historic fires - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"The White House on Saturday announced President Donald Trump will soon visit California, hours after Trump thanked the firefighters and first responders battling the historic wildfires raging in the western part of the United States.

Trump's public acknowledgment of the crisis comes after weeks of remaining largely silent on the fires that have killed over two dozen people and burned millions of acres."

"During a mid-August rally, as flames burned north of the Bay Area, his familiar response was to blame the state's forest management for not heeding his advice of cleaning the forests' floors."

Roger Stone Calls For Trump To ‘Declare Martial Law’ To Seize Power If He Loses
Trump’s ally says the president can bust Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, the “Clintons” and others who oppose him.

Roger Stone Calls For Trump To 'Declare Martial Law' To Seize Power If He Loses | HuffPost

    excerpt:

"The results will only be legitimate if the “real winner” — Trump — takes office, regardless of what the votes say, Stone declared. A loss would apparently be justification for Trump to use force to take over the nation.

Stone, who worked as an adviser in the last Trump campaign, made the astonishing statements Thursday on the InfoWars program of far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Both men talked of an ongoing “coup” against Trump, and Stone inexplicably claimed that he predicted “almost three decades ago that this moment would come.”

Stone appeared resigned to a Trump loss — but blamed it on the baseless claim that early voting has already been “corrupted.”

To safeguard Trump’s position, Stone called for federal authorities to seize ballots in Nevada, for FBI agents to physically block certain voters from casting their ballots, and for Trump to use his powers for widespread arrests to solidify his power, Media Matters first reported.

Under martial law and the Insurrection Act, Trump will have “the authority” to arrest Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, “the Clintons” and “anybody else who can be proven to be involved in illegal activity,” Stone said. He also called for the immediate arrest of former defense secretary James Mattis for “sedition,” apparently because he feared Trump was unfit for office, according to Washington Post journalist’s to Bob Woodward’s upcoming book, “Rage.”

Roger Stone Calls For Trump To 'Declare Martial Law' To Seize Power If He Loses | HuffPost

    excerpt:

"In addition, Stone warned, journalist also risk arrest. “If the Daily Beast is involved in provably seditious ... acts” in a new Trump future, their “entire staff can be taken into custody and their office can be shut down.” “They want to play war, this is war,” he added.

Stone demanded that “the ballots in Nevada on election night should be seized by federal marshals” and not counted, claiming with absolutely no evidence that “they are completely corrupted.”

While such off-the-rail suggestions could easily be shrugged off from most, Stone is a high-profile friend of the president and has his ear, critics fear. Harvard law professor and Constitutional expert Laurence Tribe warned that Stone’s “advocacy of totalitarian takeover by Trump has to be taken seriously.”

Former Nixon White House counsel John Dean blasted Stone for calling on Trump to “declare himself America’s dictator” — voicing what “many Republicans crave.”"

Great analogy considering the caste system on the Titanic. Trump would say he is a nice and godly man because he didn't bother to tell the lower classes about the problem. What good would it do? It's not like they had a life boat waiting on them anyway. Might as well let the hard parts of life play out as they will and accept it. It's very similar to the stiff upper lip approach to the virus now.

Trump's political play: can his Covid vaccine bet bring election success?
Democrats fear promise of vaccine shifts focus to economy – but Trump’s strategy might not be as sound as his camp thinks
    David Smith in Washington
    Sun 13 Sep 2020 03.00 EDT

Has Trump spent his election war chest before the war really starts?

    excerpt:

"“We’re gonna have a vaccine very soon,” Donald Trump told reporters last week. “Maybe even before a special date. You know what date I’m talking about.”

Never in the history of US elections, perhaps, has a so-called “October surprise” been so thoroughly telegraphed by a sitting US president. Trailing rival Joe Biden in the presidential race and running out of money, Trump in recent weeks has repeatedly teased the imminent arrival of a coronavirus vaccine, and explicitly tied it to the election calendar."

Trump is full of teasers about his staged October surprises and has been announcing their expected arrival in the most sordid of ways.

He stated that he thinks a vaccine will arrive before the November election to save him. It's not an issue of whether it is actually an effective vaccine or if his followers, who have been objecting to face masks and social distancing, will voluntarily line up to be vaccinated with a vaccine that has never been administered widespread to the general public for a virus that is novel. It's a psychology job by Trump to try to convince people that the pandemic is solved.

He made statements weeks earlier about another October surprise involving a what he thinks will be a good fourth quarter financial report at the end of October that he thinks will save his reelection by changing people's minds a few days before the election (seemingly forgetting that many people have already voted by that time).

Still another October surprise is Bill Barr's expected statements about the findings of the yet to be completed Durham investigation that Trump is hoping will convict various people who worked on the Mueller investigation. Trump thinks such an announcement will exonerate his behavior related to Russia meddling in the 2016 election.

Has Trump spent his election war chest before the war really starts?

    excerpt;

"Jacobs said: “Money is maybe more important this time around because Trump can’t do the mega rally and is not getting the kind of free press he got in 2016. The kind of free press he’s getting now is toxic and he’s unable to focus on the campaign themes that win him votes. So Trump needs a large war chest to run ads that will actually provide a disciplined message because he can’t do it himself.”

Biden and the DNC raised $365m in August, smashing a previous one-month record of $193m set by Barack Obama in 2008 and eclipsing the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee’s (RNC) tally of $210m. Some of the Democrat’s haul comprised big contributions from Wall Street and Silicon Valley, but the lion’s share came from grassroots donations online.

According to financial reports, while Biden and the DNC spent about $414m through July, Trump and the RNC have burned through more than $800m so far. The New York Times reported this was from a total of $1.1bn raised and “now some people inside the campaign are forecasting what was once unthinkable: a cash crunch”."
