Chinese health authorities have found traces of coronavirus in imported frozen chicken wings and on food packaging, local officials said Thursday.

The Shenzhen Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters said the public needed to take precautions around frozen food following the findings.

The warning came after a sample taken from frozen chicken wings that had arrived in the city from Brazil were reportedly found to have been contaminated by coronavirus

That seems like a reasonable request.

Gets people used to wearing masks and being seen wearing a mask, even in situations where transmission is not possible.

Actually I exercise in a KN95 mask because there are so few N95 masks around, due mostly in part to our idiot in chief.

Not a good idea to limit your oxygen supply during exercise. It's bad for your brain.

BUCKING THE TREND: Did Sweden get its radical coronavirus plan right?

It’s the country that was heavily criticised for deciding to do things differently when it came to coronavirus – to ignore lockdown and keep bars and schools open.

And it paid a price with at least 5700 deaths putting it in the top 10 of nations in terms of coronavirus deaths per million.

But, as time goes on, Sweden’s controversial approach to tackling COVID-19 is winning over some sceptics.

The Swedish economy has shrunk less than other nations and cases have fallen dramatically, deaths have essentially dried up and no significant second wave has occurred. In fact, right now, Sweden looks better than Australia.

However, some virus watchers have warned that Sweden’s success could be a mirage. That a Scandinavian trait could be behind the low current numbers and the real test could come in as little as one month’s time.

Professor Peter Collignon, an infectious diseases expert at the Australian National University, told news.com.au he doubts Sweden’s approach – or that of New Zealand – is perfect. Rather, New South Wales could end up being the exemplar as to how to get a grip on the bucking bronco of COVID-19.

“In my view, neither the New Zealand nor the Swedish approach is the way to go,” he said.

“The trouble with Sweden is its had a lot of deaths; the trouble with New Zealand is elimination is difficult to achieve.

“What’s happening in NSW with contact tracing and stopping the spread is more like what we will have to do for the next few years.”

Sweden has fewer new cases each day than Australia. Maybe they were right all along?

Initially, the plan seemed to backfire. At one point Sweden had more deaths per population than any other country.

So far, Sweden has suffered around 5800 deaths – far smaller than the US’ 167,000 deaths or the UK’s almost 50,000 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University’s coronavirus resource centre

But compared to its Scandinavian neighbours, Sweden’s experience is grim. It has recorded 10 times the deaths of Denmark and 20 times that of Norway, both of which locked down harder.

Yet, since a peak of 115 deaths a day in early April, Sweden’s numbers have tracked consistently downwards.

It’s now seeing a seven day average of 226 cases, lower than Victoria. Deaths are around one per day. There has been no detectable second wave, unlike in many other countries including in Scandinavia

Auckland lockdown extended to 12 days, because of 20 cases, how ridiculous

You’re right it’s idiotic to protect the public, and to save human lives.

    What were they thinking?

This is not really new information and certainly not enough argument to say there should have never been mask laws. Things are done for the empathy of others. It's better to be overreact than under react with such a historic event.

There has never really been any standards of production. What specifications is it designed to? What is a "'mask" and how is performance measured.? It's been the best we can do because America is not going to hand out what is really needed and people will not wear it anyway. The basic principal of slowing or stopping the output of your mouth and nose. It's being accomplished to extreme or decent degrees in most cases. It's not impossible to have a standard. People don't have a standard mask they are politely asked to wear what they can.

You seem to be ignoring basic medical principal. Masks are worn to prevent the spread of germs. No matter how much a personal bias or political slant people want to claim masks are used in medicine for a reason. The reason is not so free thinking right wing people have to live under communism.

And with the last mask note how it's for construction not medical use. I''m sure that is the got ya moment for anti-mask people. Different uses so different design.

I just went out an it looked kind of like that. Lots of folks had masks, but they're not six feet apart.

The amusing part to me is that it's people like you that are helping to spread the disease just as much as anyone else is

If anything to do with wearing masks or not never covered the main way it's transmitted, then it has all been for nought

How many antimask Trump supporters in total can you count that have popped up in your countries media in the last 5 months? 100, maybe even a few thousand....if you've had half of the boomers themselves not bothering to wear a mask the whole time, many teens or 20 something's not bothering, you are talking about 50, 100 million, a few thousand Trump supporters pales in comparison to that

Family home is still the main vector for transmissions, even if mask wearing was all that important, the most crucial time to wear a mask was around those you spend the most time with; at home when the family comes home; something that most weren't doing, the message on that was never drummed in often enough

If the "experts" have always been wrong about the fecal-oral route and 20% of transmissions have always been from flushing toilets, going into a toilet in a bar or restaurant within an hour of someone infected using it, and wearing a non sealing face mask when entering that toilet pretty much useless....then regardless of how many people use shitty masks, it was only a matter of time before you get to the number of cases anyway

If social distancing was always ten times more important than masks, washing/ sanitizing all surfaces 5 times more important than masks....but you put all the emphasis on masks as a result pay less attention to the more important things, you are just as guilty for spreading the disease as anyone else

Even with the ones that were wearing masks, how long have they been wearing the exact same mask, and how many times had they washed their hands since the first time they wore that mask, how many times since first putting on that mask had they not washed their hands after touching something else?
