Barr was barrbecued during a five-hour session at Congress last week. William Barr: Trump's faithful protector – and a danger to democracy? The attorney general’s many critics saw his combative display on Capitol Hill as proof of his willingness to enable Trump’s darkest impulses David Smith in Washington Sun 2 Aug 2020 06.00 EDT Is Trump's top cop, William Barr, a danger to democracy? excerpt: "In reality he had always been an advocate of expansive presidential power and a hard line on fighting crime. He is therefore seen as a perfect fit for Trump, who has repeatedly tested the limits of executive authority and is now pushing a “law and order” theme for his election campaign against Biden. Weeks after his Senate confirmation Barr cleared Trump of obstruction of justice allegations even when Robert Mueller, the special counsel, did no such thing, and produced a summary of Mueller’s Russia investigation that set an unduly rosy narrative for the president. Barr has since made good on Trump’s rallying cry to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation in what Democrats see as a politically motivated attempt to damage Biden, the former vice-president, ahead of the election. He has also been sharply criticized for a decision to drop the prosecution of Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn and urging a more lenient sentence for Trump’s ally Roger Stone, a move that prompted the entire trial team’s departure. The Flynn dismissal will be reviewed by a federal appeals court but Trump commuted Stone’s sentence altogether. In addition, Barr claimed that Geoffrey Berman, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, New York, had agreed to “step down”, only for Berman to explicitly deny this. Such actions have prompted open letters signed by thousands of justice department alumni demanding Barr’s resignation."
Remarks by Paul Rosenszweig describe the realization that Barr is a different person compared to when he was Attorney General during the Bush Sr. administration. The Republican party and the AG position has deteriorated greatly since that era. Is Trump's top cop, attorney general William Barr, a danger to democracy? excerpt: "Once regarded as a conservative stalwart, he has proved less bulwark than bully in the Trump administration, critics allege. Rosenzweig said: “I was one who thought that his appointment as attorney general would be good for the department because 30 years ago he was within the bounds and norms of establishment Republican behavior, perhaps a little more conservative than many but an institutionalist who would restore the department’s independence and stand up to Trump in asserting that. “I have been both shocked and surprised to see that this is not the case any more. I don’t know whether the person 30 years ago was hiding all of this or if he’s changed, but it is clear that the man who 30 years ago was the attorney general for George Bush is not the same person as the man today.” In that sense, Barr is far from alone. Matthew Miller, a former director of the justice department’s public affairs office, said: “Bill Barr has gone off the deep end like the entire Republican party. His journey is just the same journey the rest of the Republican party has gone on which is very conservative, but also he’s had his brain pickled by years of Fox News.”"
Trump has a limited time to make a comeback. Early voting begins on September 4 in the swing state of North Carolina. Clock is ticking on Trump comeback as early voting nears By JONATHAN LEMIRE and ZEKE MILLER August 2, 2020 excerpt: "Aides are increasingly worried that the 2020 campaign may already be defined as a referendum on Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and will feature a historic shift to remote and early vote options. The president’s campaign is scrambling for a reset, pausing advertisements while struggling to find both a cohesive message and a way to safely put the president on the road in front of voters. Trump added to the tumult by publicly wondering if the election should be delayed while making the unfounded claim that the tilt toward mail-in balloting would lead to widespread voter fraud. That suggestion drew a rare rebuke from Republicans, many of whom quietly warned the White House that it could be interpreted as an admission that the president was losing and could hurt their chances of retaining the Senate. And they warned that time is running out: The first state to hold early voting, the vital battleground of North Carolina, begins the process Sept. 4. “He’s losing and the trajectory of the race is moving away from him,” said Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser on Republican John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign and an opponent of Trump’s reelection. “People vote at a moment in time: Even if there is something of a political recovery for the president in October, that is irrelevant for those who already voted."”
Trump has made remarks about what he thinks will be a rosy 4th quarter financial report that will be released a few days before the November election that he thinks will boost him for the election. He started making such remarks in April 2020 after a 4.8% annualized collapse of the GDP. Figures released at the end of July for the second quarter showed an annualized collapse of 32.9%, the worst ever in U.S. history. The previous record was 10% in 1958. Trump neglects the impact of two months of early voting starting in September in the wake of the 32.9% collapse still fresh in the minds of the voters. Trump and the faithful will continue try to put a positive spin on it.
The image Trump walking past graffiti gives the impression of being photoshopped, but it wasn't. It looks like a scene from a Hollywood movie made decades ago predicting the chaos and unraveling of democracy instigated by an aloof President. All of those bad optics were for the sake of walking to a church to engage in more bad optics by having a clueless Trump hold up to the camera an upside-down Bible that came out of the $1500 Max Mara handbag of his daughter who's now doing promos for Goya Foods to try to appeal to Trump's lost Hispanic vote. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said attorney general Barr was responsible for expanding the perimeter for the photo-op. Barr was seen surveying the area before the photo-op and participated in it with Trump. Barr denied giving any tactical orders to clear the area. The Bible photo-op was reportedly the idea of Hope Hicks, a revolving-door, recycled former communications director for Trump who had quit but was rehired for his 2020 campaign.
Marxist nonsense. Right Wingers would be mobbed and assaulted if they got anywhere near these rioters and you know it. Putting on shirts that say MOMS or Boogaloo is just more Marxist tactics. To stand here and pretend that NONE of these fires or ANY of this violence is coming from the sweet angelic protesters is a joke. Nobody is that stupid.
Sure but this is how Antifa plays the game. It's about what they can get people to believe and not about what is real. Many of the people who make these claims that these rioters are peaceful protesters actually know they are lying. They know what they are doing. They are also the first to accuse their enemies of what they themselves are doing. It's rules for radicals. Saul Alinsky and Marxist tactics. They are trying to confuse and win over those that don't have any first hand understanding of these groups. They repeat their lines over and over and people fall for it. I'm no Trump supporter but we are in the midst of a Marxist overthrow of America. When they know that you know, they will laugh and tell you there is nothing you can do to stop them and explain that they are too far ahead of the right for them to even figure out how they are moving us all further left and that they will have their way with us. For sure there are dumb asses on the right. That doesn't address what is happening here. The Left is probably going to win this even if Trump gets a second term. They are better and more underhanded at this game then the right is. They have more financial backing and they shame, frame and doxx anyone who gets in their way. It's been going on for decades, Yuri Bezmenov spelled it out for us in the 80's. You don't have to be a Trump supporter or a racist to look at the situation and see the Left is crazy and up to no damn good.
I'll just leave this here THIS IS HUGE! Black and Minority Voter Approval for President Trump At Record Highs
Out of my large and extended family including friends and acquaintances I know absolutely no one who is going to vote for Trump. He’ll be lucky to get Kanye West….lol….
So the math is from one minority person nationwide Supporting Trump to two! Minority voters have one up on the non-minority voters because they are smart enough to know they’re being shafted. Truth is Trump threw 99% of Americans under the wheels on his tricycle but about 1/3 are too far off in the ozone to recognize it.
Trump gets an education in the art of reversal The president’s backdown in fighting with schools about their reopening marked the latest in a long line of failed red lines for Trump. By ANITA KUMAR 08/02/2020 07:00 AM EDT Trump gets an education in the art of reversal excerpt: "President Donald Trump has strong views on just about everything. Until he doesn’t. He ordered states to reopen in the spring, only to extend national social distancing guidelines. He insisted he would have the Republican convention at full size, only to scrap much of the event. He suggested the election should be delayed, only to reverse course and declare it should actually be held early. And, in recent weeks as parents, teachers and local officials debated how to teach America’s 50 million public school students this fall, he threatened to withhold federal aid from districts that failed to offer in-person learning. But instead of fighting the many districts that defied him, he scaled back his combative rhetoric and toned down his demands. As America has battled the coronavirus for the past five months, Trump has fought everyone else as he pushed his own contentious plans — governors, mayors, lawmakers, judges, even his own administration officials — before later reversing course, backing away from his initial stance or simply moving on to the next issue and declaring victory. Sometimes, the people he’s fighting have confronted him. Other times, they refused to engage." video: Ames Brother and Les Brown - Undecided
I get the gist, but am sort of straining to relate it to the topic. Maybe I just didn't read back far enough...Lol
