This is what gets me there are so many right wingers out there that don’t seem to be willing to think for themselves – they seem to not even want to think for themselves – they will just repeat something from a meme factory, or repeat a slogan, or repeat what it said on some right wing website, or so on and so on.

They don’t seem able to enter into honest debate because honest debate is hard it means thinking for themselves, thinking things through, questioning the stuff they repeat.

What is the evidence – so far all you have indicated that you only post because you want to be an arsehole, again from my experience most arseholes are very ill-informed and ignorant and that is why they are arseholes.

 

Let me explain, if you don't understand, what's wrong with the meme. First of all, the centerpiece is a quotation by V.I. Lenin--the guy who invented the idea that socialism was in intermediate stage to communism. That belief is central to Leninist ideology, but it doesn't make it correct. Secondly, it has several figures appearing to agree with him--as Balbus says, trying to associate them with Lenin with no basis at all. Obama and Hillary have never called for state control of industries or transportation. Bernie thinks he's a Socialist, but is actually more of a Social Democrat. And none of them advocates Communism, the brutal, totalitarian variant of Socialism which Lenin brought to Russia. When you post a meme, you're making a statement, and its reasonable for others to hold you responsible for it. Accusing people of being Communists for shits and giggles isn't responsible.

I don't think many socialists myself included would deny this. We do however see the limits of humanity so settle for a mixed market system. Few people want true communism. It's an idea that might work in the future but not now.

It's the right wing who seems unable to grasp the difference. Most people who go on about "Marxist" ideas have never read his work. No one supports what the USSR was and if you ask many right wingers they say the USSR is the only possible outcome to my thinking. It's simply not true.
