Who do you think should be embarrassed by that designation?

When will you post their photos?
Well thanks for clarifying. Some people might believe it. You certainly have done a remarkable job of portraying your own people in a manner that would make the SS proud! BTW, do you think of yourself as white?

Well done for stopping being a racist. But you say you're getting excited as it seems like society is learning to accept them. The society I grew up in Wales has always accepted. It seems to be in these cities that you and the Black people grew up together and you youngsters just could not get on could you. Hence the hate and prejudice is handed down to next generation and next. In these cities you have the down and outs like you and same groups in the Black community. All Black and White people who go to school and make use of the British education system seem to grow up in harmony with each other.

Are you trying to shhhhhhhhhhhh somebody, Gloomy. I thought “When you tear out a man’s tongue, you are not proving him a liar; you’re only telling the world that you fear what he might say.” - Tyrion Lannister

You gotta be kiddin. Put on white face? You think that's gonna fool anybody. And no person should be required to self-alienate and deny who he is just to please others who are wrong.

I think deception is wrong by society's standards.

No he didn't. At no point did he pretend to be Hispanic. He grew up in an Hispanic neighborhood and was given an Hispanic nickname. Shaun King appears to be biracial. The man listed on his birth certificate is his adoptive father. Rachel Dolezal appears to be a pschological case of a black wannabe. Elizabeth seems to have done it for educational admissions and political advantages.

I'm seriously trying to ignore it. I'm a white guy . I never was a racist I always gave people a chance. This statue removal and all this going on bothers me. Also the war on the police is outrageous. I hope that things will get better soon

Where I grew up in southern California was a suburb and it's not near a really big city. And there weren't a lot of Black boys and girls in my classes. The poor kids who were Black must have felt like the only Black people in the world. So in my mind's eye I guess I always secretly felt they were at a disadvantage. We were taught in school that prejudice was wrong. But when I was in my late teens, that was when there was a lot of peer input regarding race. Certain people in the drug hierarchy had influence in that regard. Some of the dealers were down about Hispanic people, and comments about African-Americans were made. Needless to say, being Hispanic (I'm half Mexican) I was offended, though not outraged, and I stopped hanging out with them.

After I left I got lonesome. I was trying to find a light switch in the dark so to speak. And I took on a racist persona; maybe half to remind myself that I was still 'like' them even though I couldn't hang out with them. I started to be more sober-minded; though I couldn't quit drinking for years. Finally, at some point I decided that being racist was wrong for me, and ultimately I decided that it's actually wrong in more general terms as well. In an effort to explore, I took some sociology classes in college; one about social problems, and even one about race and ethnicity as well as an exploration of gender. It was quite an experience, and I found others rejection of racism was comforting to me. Slowly, I began to remember why I didn't agree with the thoughts in my mind. And now I consider myself more sane, logical, and charitable about the entire issue.

But wasn't colonialism's role in history under-explained in elementary education? We didn't have that curriculum when I was growing up; only in college.

It bothers me, too, and I'm not a white guy. The "defund the police" movement is so mindboggling stupid it's hard to believe anybody would bring it up, let alone take the ball and run with it and actually do it. As for the statues, I don't mind getting rid of the Confederate ones. Most of them are of traitors, put up after the Civil War to revise history. But to go after the Mount Rushmore Presidents is way out of line. People who do this will continue to do it as long as it serves their cause, but I suspect that won't be long. We have a President, however, who feeds hatred and can be counted on to throw gasoline on the flames. Getting him out of office is the first step in healing the racial divide.

Who said that? Do they read the Bible? You're fighting straw men--the hate monger's favorite strategy.

Recently, when Trump was holding his rally in Tulsa, media attention focused on the fact that the worst race massacre in our country's history happened there. But in Oklahoma, that had been pretty much erased from history as it's taught in the schools. I have a friend , an ardent Trump supporter, who recently attended some lectures by a history professor that he likes. He liked the courses so much he decided to take one by the same professor on Black History in Oklahoma. He was shocked and outraged to find out all the stuff his schools had kept from him.

    Yea.

Our discussion of Native Americans was an in-depth mention of different tribes of the plains and north east. I remember that. But it was all Thanksgiving and love. The trail of tears got an honorable mention too, of course, but by and large the facts were presented as our righteous journey to the new world.

EDIT: I forgot... the Chumash were mentioned too.

It sort of feels like we only got half the story.
