I feel like this is along the same lines as the cop who did the same. It's best to reverse course and find another route, not plow ahead.
I think that it might be unsafe to exit your vehicle, but you make an interesting point. If the protesters are non-violent, there's no excuse for any kind of force.
With that goal in mind, I wonder if there isn't a better approach. Though I'm a proponent, over the years I've always heard arguments firmly against affirmative action. It seems to me dissenters might have a better idea in mind, but there doesn't seem to be much of that. It's mostly people going "what problem?" rather discussing alternate solutions.
I don't live too far away from this incident, and I can tell you this protest was about as non-violent as it ever gets.
And your point is? The lecturer seems to be talking about slavery by Corsairs--Muslim Berber, Arab, and Turkish pirates--raiding the Brits for slaves to be shipped back to North (not Sub-Saharan) Africa.
Driver saw the people demonstrating in the street and deliberately drove his vehicle at them. He was arrested for it, because that's illegal.
What about those many situations were the police herd the protesters into the street... I'm guessing the protesters were just supposed to disappear into thin air.......... huh!
