Soltz has been outspoken about Bush and Cheney, which I agree with, 2003 was dumb

But 700,000 votevet members, I doubt most of them are actually veterans, and I doubt that represents the majority of the military

A dramatic ad, but most in the military will assume Biden more likely to cut defense spending

In the face of being outright wrong, Trump still claims he was right.

He didn't specify which day, month, year, decade, century.

Trump: I Was Right, Coronavirus Cases ‘Will Go Down to Zero, Ultimately’

Trump: I Was Right, Coronavirus Cases ‘Will Go Down to Zero, Ultimately’

    excerpts:

"On February 26, President Trump boasted that the coronavirus was about to disappear altogether from the United States. “You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero,” he insisted.

A reporter asked him today how that prediction is holding up, given that the United States now has surpassed 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases. Trump insisted he had been right all along.

“Well, it will go down to zero, ultimately,” he said."

"The original promise of cases going down to zero has basically been fulfilled, just that the timeline for going down to zero has been slightly extended from a couple days to “sometime before all life on Earth ceases to exist.”"

The shift from the focus on the number of deaths to the number of cases in the last month has been painfully obvious

There has been a definite slowdown in the infection and mortality rates in summer and after the lockdowns eased

Trump exacerbated the racial tensions to the extent that major sports teams are now considering changing their names. The change in attitude of major sports leagues is sure to frustrate Trump who in the past has tried to dictate the behavior of the NFL to conform to his culture wars.

Washington and the N.F.L. Might Change the Redskins Name. Why Now?
The move toward changing a mascot name after decades of complaints underscores how America’s most popular sport has scrambled to keep up with shifts in public opinion.

Washington and the N.F.L. Might Change the Redskins Name. Why Now?

    excerpt:

"But in the last month, the ground underneath their feet has shifted. American society is undergoing a wide uprising over police brutality and systemic racism that flared after the killing of George Floyd in police custody, a widespread movement that has led to a reconsideration of statues, flags, symbols and mascots considered to be racist or celebrating racist history.

Statues of soldiers who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War are being taken down across the country. The governor of Mississippi signed a bill to remove the Confederate battle emblem from its flag, in part because of pressure from sports organizations. Corporate mascots like Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben are being phased out.

Long accustomed to doing whatever it pleased on account of its massive popularity, the N.F.L. has scrambled to keep up with rapidly evolving public opinion. Last month, Goodell apologized for not listening to concerns from the league’s Black players earlier, and he encouraged them to peacefully protest — an about face from years of trying to prevent players from kneeling during the playing of the national anthem before games to protest racism.""

Based on his past behavior, Trump will try to dictate to the NFL that the Redskins not change their name and logo. He would even be willing to erect a monument of the Redskins logo in a garden at the White House to teach people about culture and history.

The Cleveland Indians finally removed the Chief Wahoo logo from their uniforms in 2019 after years of gradually phasing out the logo.

    excerpt:

"The Chief Wahoo logo was last worn by the Indians in a loss to the Houston Astros on October 8, 2018 in the 2018 American League Division Series. News outlets noted the irony of the logo's final appearance being on Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day."

Looks like it's time once again for Trump to spend millions of dollars of taxpayer money to send Pence to sports games (when they resume after Trump's slapstick response to the coronavirus helped suspend them) to abruptly leave in protest because of issues that don't conform to Trump's petty culture wars.

I love when they interview white people on the name and they say they are native and they are not offended. Most white Americans will swear they have a great grandparent or someone distant like who was a full blood member of a tribe my family included. I don't know I've seen many native women who look good and in the old days men did not always ask they just took so I guess it's possible. But you are not part of the tribe without a large percent of DNA.

Have you even been to a reservation? What can you discuss about your tribe's traditions? You know like tribal songs, or speaking your native language. I bet these fans can't do any of that. It's just white people deciding that if they are not offended no one else should be even though they are very sensitive when it comes to their race.

The team name is another dog whistle just like the Confederate statues to a time when there was a certain social order and that order is all other people have what the white man gives them and they best thank the white men every day for being nice enough to give it. That is the true end of racism for these people. Others accept their place in the past and the present.

It matters to Trump because he's smart enough to see that identity politics is his biggest selling point.

Does not look like a healthy man to me. Seems like the type to get winded going down a ramp or having a strong poo. Nice plastic surgery though Don you still look 40.

So, most of the military would rather have a traitor for commander in chief? Did you ask all of them? You should, we'll wait.

The militarily needs to cut their spending and even top brass in the service say so. All those tanks and jets cost millions each and take years to design. They still do a great job at killing but there is always pressure for more. The military industrial complex is an employment program too at places like Lockheed they need a project and they are not building a bridge. Who buys the old stuff? It often ends up in the hands of the very people we fight because we need space and money so we just sell it to whomever.

Even if America spent a fraction of what it does we would still by FAR have the largest military in the world and we used to have the next biggest guys like the UK as an ally.
There is big difference in an army defending and one on the offensive. MUCH easier to pool resources when you just don't have to lose ground. For example the UK could not take Berlin at the start of WW2 but their Air Force and Navy made sure the Nazis could not get to London either. So much so the Nazis spent all their resources and moved on to other plans.

We would then have money for things like really paying a vet's healthcare and school. The GI bill and VA cover jack shit now. And I'm sure they would love if their kids didn't even have to get shot at in the hot sand to have the same chances.

So yeah if you talk to anyone who's actuly in the military and not an Australian who has a fetish for America they might say Biden is not that bad.

I am guilty of assuming that I am part Cherokee because my mother ther told me that I was. My maternal grandmother defined looked native American. I've never had a genealogy test though. To be considered part of a tribe, one must be at least 1/8th blood connection to the tribe.

Regardless, I am passionate about the plight of Native Americans. I have traveled quite a bit on the Dine(Navajo) reservation, and the living conditions are horrendous. One reason that the Covid 19 rate is so high on the reservation is the lack of running water. Consequently, there is no way to wash hands.

Yeah seeing a reservation gave me new perespective on the average American poor person. Just having indoor plumbing and heat means you are doing better than a lot of people.
