The inside venue was half-filled at the start and a lack of people outside apparently caused Trump to cancel his outdoor speech. Trump Rally Live Updates: President Resumes Campaign, But Crowd Is Sparse The New York Times June 20, 2020 Trump Rally Live Updates: President Resumes Campaign, But Crowd Is Sparse excerpt: "But in reality, there were few protests across the city, and black leaders in Tulsa called for people to stay away from the rally. There was also a huge security presence around the arena. Mr. Trump had originally been scheduled to address an overflow crowd of supporters outside, those plans were also scrapped at the last minute. The campaign did not make it clear why, although the outdoor area was only sparsely populated."

Trump addresses campaign rally at half-empty Tulsa arena Hours before the rally, Trump's campaign announced six members of its advance team had tested positive for COVID-19. Aljazeera June 20, 2020 Trump addresses campaign rally at half-empty Tulsa arena excerpt: "Oklahoma has reported a surge in new COVID-19 infections in recent days, and the state's department of health has warned that rally attendees face an increased risk of catching the virus. Hours before the rally, Trump's campaign announced six members of its advance team had tested positive for COVID-19. "Six members of the advance team tested positive out of hundreds of tests performed, and quarantine procedures were immediately implemented," Tim Murtaugh, campaign communications director, said in a statement."
The motley crew of populists have been unable to grapple with a real crisis where the remedy requires objective facts, practical reason, and science. Trump, Putin and Bolsonaro find their populist playbooks are no match for coronavirus Analysis by Angela Dewan, CNN Updated 11:09 AM ET, Sun May 31, 2020 Trump, Putin and Bolsonaro find their populist playbooks are no match for coronavirus - CNN excerpt: "Instead, some populists are finding themselves powerless against the outbreaks ravaging their countries. The US, Brazil and Russia now have the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, and as their death tolls continue to rise, their economies are taking devastating blows. Much to their frustration, the macho leaders of these countries are finding the virus immune to their playbooks. Intimidation, fear-mongering and propaganda just aren't working. Being guided by science, communicating transparently and long-term planning are proving the sharper tools. US President Donald Trump has turned to a favorite weapon, Twitter, to try to place blame for his country's situation on China, tout unproven drugs and pressure governors to reopen states. But his blustering tweets and attempts to intimidate haven't stopped the virus."
A statement by Bolsonaro that competes with some of the harebrained remarks made by Trump. Trump, Putin and Bolsonaro find their populist playbooks are no match for coronavirus - CNN excerpt: "In Brazil, Bolsonaro not only implied that the virus would never be able to hurt him, he made similar claims about Brazilians in general. "Brazilians should be studied, we don't catch anything. You see people jumping in sewage, diving in it and nothing happens to them," Bolsonaro said on March 26, as the number of cases in his country approached 3,000."
I watched it. The video also says that if you're caring for someone with the virus, you should wear one. Right?
You're talking deaths. I'm talking new cases. You just documented 8 deaths in the past 4 days from the virus. Don't any lives matter? Coronavirus: Oklahoma records highest spike in US days before Trump 19,000-seat indoor rally Oklahoma coronavirus: COVID-19 cases rise ahead of Trump Tulsa rally Oklahoma mortality rate: currently 3.7%; WHO averge mortality rate: 3.6%.Oklahoma COVID-19 Statistics: 10,038 Cases / 368 Deaths / 7,414 Recovered / 281,962 Tests / Avg cases/day rate of 266 has grew 189.1% from 14 days ago (Updated Jun 20, 2020 @ 10:28pm)
Yeah, they were even talking about the possibility of a million attendees, based on the number of ticket requests. Apparently those were left wing pranks. The capacity of the facility was 10,000 and it was obviously far from full. The upper levels were mostly empty, but people were packed, elbow to elbow, in the lower levels. I noticed our governor there, maskless, talking to a maskless Jim Jordan, Republican representative from Ohio. Hope the gov. doesn't catch anything nasty. Trump's speech was lackluster, spending consdierable time trying to explain his slow shuffle down the ramp at West Point and complaining that if we didn't have so much testing, our covid numbers would be better. Trump wanted big crowds at his comeback rally. They didn't show up. Trump comeback rally features empty seats, staff infections
Yeah, deaths are kind of more important than cases, Oklahoma started lifting restrictions 24th April, that's almost 2 months ago. State hasn't recorded a single day with more than 10 deaths since then We are well past the stage where reopening would have shown an increase in those deaths
Yes, and the WHO rep says you don't need to wear masks if you don't have symptoms, there is no evidence they protect people who aren't sick
???? What part of what I said do you think was kidding? I do stand corrected on the BOK Center capacity. It is 19,199 people. The attendance was about two-thirds of capacity. Still large parts of the facility were empty. Certainly nothing like 100k.
hahahaha Zoomers 'sabotaged Trump's Tulsa rally by reserving tickets by the hundreds' | Daily Mail Online
Not exactly. Oklahoma has reopened in three stages. Schools are closed for the rest of the academic year. Stage One began on April 24. Stage 2, including dining, entertainment, movie theaters, gyms & sporting venues didn't begin until May 15, and only under CDC recommended social distancing and sanitation protocols. Stage 3, in which unrestricted staffing at work sites is authorized under CDC guidelines for social distancing, just began this month. Gov. Kevin Stitt releases guidelines for phase 3 of reopening Oklahoma on June 1 And cases are now spiking!
Trump once fired an aide because of a few empty seats that were seen at one of his rallies. Now the aides are testing positive for the coronavirus for an event that had many more than just a few empty seats. Sick staff and empty seats: How Trump's triumphant return to the campaign trail went from bad to worse By Kevin Liptak and Kaitlan Collins, CNN Updated 12:00 AM ET, Sun June 21, 2020 How Trump's triumphant return to the campaign trail went from bad to worse - CNNPolitics excerpt: "Things did not improve once Air Force One lifted off. The President received a report that only about 25 people were assembled in the overflow space the campaign had reserved for a crowd Trump claimed five days earlier would top 40,000. Two hours before the rally was set to begin, people who had signed up for tickets received an urgent text message from the Trump campaign: "The Great American Comeback Celebration's almost here!" it read. "There's still space!" When the President landed in Tulsa at 5:51 p.m. local time, the crowds his aides had promised him had failed to materialize. Air Force One flew over the arena, where Trump had been told thousands of supporters would be waiting to hear from him before he went inside, but saw nothing resembling the sea of people he'd been expecting. While he was in the air, the campaign had canceled the outside appearance given the apparent lack of enthusiasm."
Its a decent turnout given all the circumstances Alternatively, Biden is going to what, stay in his basement until november?
Serious question. If you lived in the Tulsa area would you have attended the rally? Would you have worn a mask?
