I remember how the Reagan administration tried to stop publication of Seymour Hersh’s book
“The target is destroyed, what really happened to flight 007’,

They too cited National Security but were overruled by a Federal Judge.

The funny thing is It really was filled with National Security Secrets which made for a great read

I was watching some Trump fans in Tulsa for the rally being interviewed about why they are attending the rally and don't plan to wear masks: (1) "it's my right as an American to make my own choice and I choose not to wear a mask" (2) “Oklahoma has had a very low rate, relatively speaking. There’s a small spike for a specific reason.” (3) I've got good health, so I'm not worried; (4) “If Trump felt comfortable having it here, then I’m comfortable”; (5) the BLM demonstrators weren't wearing masks or social distancing; (6) "If today is the day I die, today is the day I die." What I didn't hear was much concern with the health and safety of others: the fact that the event is the perfect storm for spreading the virus (thousands of people, from different locales, most not wearing masks, crammed into a confined space without social distancing, doing a lot of whooping and hollering, and going back to homes and work). It's their right, but is it right? Oklahoma had a relatively low rate of Covid, Oklahoma in general and Tulsa in particular, has experienced a sudden upsurge in just the past week. Oklahoma has over 10,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases. We had 450 new cases last Thursday, compared to the previous one-day high of 229 reported Tuesday. Tulsa County is leading Covid-19 hot spot in the state, with 120 new cases, for a total of 1,945. Six staff members helping set up for the rally have tested positive for the virus and are now under quarantine. The "specific reason" for this seems to be the arbitrary reopening of the State without regard to medical data, and the prevalent sense that the danger is over.

Are there any responsibilities to others involved? Their health may be good now, but wait a couple of weeks and see how it is. Trump is hardly a medical expert, whose advice he routinely flouts. It's true, many of the BLM demonstrators didn't seem to be social distancing or wearing masks. But the BLM protestors were outdoors, and the behavior of a crowd moved by raw emotion should not be a guide to sensible behavior. As for being ready to die, people can make that choice for themselves, but it's a stretch to say they should make it for others. In sum, these reasons seem both irrational and selfish.

hey moron, you don't die the same day you get the virus.

At least most of the ones I saw, here in LA, were wearing masks.

14 days for the symptoms to appear? That's complete bullshit and everyone would realise that

The question is, why would TIME magazine need to seek out mid level college teachers for such a quote

We are approaching 9 million cases active and resolved in total worldwide

If any of what you just said was true, it would be plastered all over the news to help convince people the lockdowns mean anything, and there would be 100s of thousands of examples of long term damage

This is Sergio, he was in hospital back in March, now three months later he can't tie his own shoe laces

Show me one single case with an MRI of the lungs three months apart

Berman just got fired. Barr says Trump fired him. Trump says Barr fired him. Berman was investigating PARNAS + FRUMAN + GIULIANI + more. He was hot on Trump's trail. Trump must have some serious criminal conduct to keep hidden. That's why he is acting so irrational and erratic. Early voting starts in September and Biden is 11 points ahead nationally. I doubt voters will vote for Trump after his refusal to comply with subpoenas in the impeachment process, and his obstruction of justice in the Deutsche Bank case. The Mueller investigation is now known to have been scuttled by Trump and Barr. And John Bolton has said Trump supported the imprisonment of millions of Muslims in concentration camps. Lots of evangelicals would vote for him under any circumstance; however, Biden is going to win.

June 18, Trump crony Michael Pack, the new head of U.S. Agency for Global Media, fired the Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Alberto Fernandez and the head of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Jamie Fly.
He also fired executive Steve Capus and Libby Liu, the head of the Open Technology Fund which helps provide internet access world wide. ~ 1.
Democrats and conservatives are pissed as it seems Pack is getting ready to set up a Trump propaganda machine.

So why would TIME publish an article saying 14 days?

It's a little bit curious, who doesn't know it's 4-5 days by now. It's going to stand out to anyone reading it

I've been saying for the last three and a half years Trump has been running an organized crime outfit out of the White House. Early voting starts in September.

Where the Virus Is Growing Most: Countries With ‘Illiberal Populist’ Leaders
Brazil, Russia, Britain and the U.S. have something in common.

Where the Virus Is Growing Most: Countries With ‘Illiberal Populist’ Leaders

    excerpts:

"The four large countries where coronavirus cases have recently been increasing fastest are Brazil, the United States, Russia and Britain. And they have something in common.

They are all run by populist male leaders who cast themselves as anti-elite and anti-establishment.

The four leaders — Jair Bolsonaro, Donald J. Trump, Vladimir V. Putin and Boris Johnson — also have a lot of differences, of course, as do their countries. Yet all four subscribe to versions of what Daniel Ziblatt, a government professor at Harvard and co-author of the book “How Democracies Die,” calls “radical right illiberal populism.”"

"In Brazil, Mr. Bolsonaro fired his health minister and has repeatedly called for states to end stay-at-home orders. In the United States, Mr. Trump rejected the views of experts for almost two months, predicting the virus would disappear “like a miracle.” In Britain, Mr. Johnson’s government initially encouraged people to continue socializing, even as other countries were locking down.

All four leaders also flouted guidance on personal protective measures early on, refusing to wear a mask or continuing to shake hands."

    No...

I don't think that making fun of face masks is particularly useful, but I'm sure that wasn't what I was referring to; though now I honestly don't remember.

I think though that having a cavalier attitude about not wearing a mask is rather foolhardy and contrarian. Every expert in modern science and medicine recommends wearing a mask to stifle the virus.
