Bolsonaro is a blustering populist like Trump and has harbored the same jackass, head-in-the-sand approach to the coronavirus as Trump.

Bolsonaro, known as Tropical Trump, has been attempting to hide the coronavirus data from the public and has had two health ministers quit after quarrels with him.

Brazil to exceed 1 million COVID-19 cases as virus rages
    Pedro Fonseca
    June 19, 2020

Brazil passes 1 million coronavirus cases with no end in sight

    excerpt:

"RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Brazil was on track to surpass 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases on Friday, second only to the United States, with total deaths fast approaching 50,000 as the country struggles with a tense political climate and worsening economic outlook.

Brazil confirmed its first case of the virus on Feb. 26. It has spread relentlessly across the continent-sized country, eroding support for right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro and raising fears of economic collapse after years of anemic growth.

The true extent of the outbreak in Brazil far exceeds official figures released after 6 p.m. (2100 GMT) on most evenings, according to many experts, who cite a lack of widespread testing in the country as a factor adding to many uncertainties about the disease."

U.S. coronavirus deaths exceed 121,000 as Trump embarks on his virus super-spreader events in the warmer climate election swing states that are showing issues of increased coronavirus cases that are difficult to attribute to increased testing alone.

With the exception of the U.S., Brazil now has the highest death count, currently over 49,000. It surpasses the U.K., also run by a populist like Trump and Bolsonaro (Johnson was in the ICU with COVID-19), which used to hold the second-highest death count but is now third.

The first event, right here in Oklahoma, promises to combine the two headline grabbers of the past month: the virus and the BLM protests. Tulsans have already been celebrating Juneteenth and are mobilized for action. Trump has set the stage for trouble by thinly veiled threats of violence against rioters, whom he conflates with demonstrators. The Secret Service has warned him that troublemakers are afoot in Tulsa. Meanwhile, his supporters are already gathering in the streets, waiting for the rally. What could go wrong? And I have to live with the fallout! I definitely won't be at the event, but I'm afraid those who are will bring the aftermath to me!

Those coronavirus numbers out of Florida are telling.

Over a three day period the number of new cases rose from 2,700 to 3,200, to 3,800. It's totally out of control.

To compound the problem of dealing with the virus, it's obviously being made into a political issue. Trump supporters at the Tulsa rally, where masks are optional, make fun of masked Tulsans who are behaving responsibly. Rush Limbaugh has called Democrats "mask-wearing freaks." Is he a crazy jerk or what? I noticed a story about a man who was ejected from an American flight from LaGuardia to Dallas/Fort Worth for refusing to wear a mask, and then tweeted about the outrage of it all. Mask wearing, he said, isn't agianst the law (just against the carrier's policy). I said to myself "What an asshole!" Then I noticed who it was: Brandon Straka, the guy Republicans were trying to make their poster boy for a gay ex-Democrat converting to the Republican Party--without much success. I remember Six-eyed Shaman was struggling in vein to get some traction for the story. Obviously, Mr. Straka is still trying.

Trump and his allies have politicized wearing masks, but the vast majority of Americans say they cover their faces to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Another Friday evening release to avoid exposure.

I have not resigned': Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman fires back at Barr, who says he's leaving
"I will step down when a presidentially appointed nominee is confirmed by the Senate. Until then, our investigations will move forward without delay or interruption," Berman said.

'I have not resigned': Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman fires back at Barr, who says he's leaving

    excerpt:

"A senior administration official said Barr made the decision because Clayton planned to leave the SEC position and return to New York and expressed interest in the US attorney's position. The official said Berman was offered another position in the Justice Department but declined.

"It's no reflection on Berman, but Barr regarded Clayton highly and thought he would be a good fit," the official said. The official pointed out that the US attorney's position is a political appointment.

Preet Bharara, who preceded Berman in the office was fired in the early days of the Trump administration tweeted, "Doesn't sound like `stepping down. Why does a president get rid of his own hand-picked US Attorney in SDNY on a Friday night, less than 5 months before the election?"

New York's senior U.S. senator, Democrat Charles Schumer, said the move "reeks of potential corruption of the legal process. What is angering President Trump? A previous action by this U.S. attorney or one that is ongoing?""

Warm weather and UV didn't make the coronavirus magically go away, to the disappointment of Trump and his gut feeling.

MLB training facilities in FL and AZ will be closed for cleaning

MLB to close all spring training facilities for cleaning after COVID-19 outbreak, per reports
Players and staff will not be allowed to return until they test negative for COVID-19

MLB to close all spring training facilities for cleaning after COVID-19 outbreak, per reports

    excerpt:

"Following an outbreak of COVID-19 at multiple spring training facilities, MLB will reportedly close all facilities in Arizona and Florida immediately for cleaning. Players and staff will be allowed to return to those facilities only after they test negative for COVID-19. Bob Nightengale of USA Today first reported the story on Friday, and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic has since confirmed.

The Phillies confirmed eight positive tests among players and staff at their Florida facilities, and the Blue Jays closed their nearby facilities after a pitcher on the 40-man roster presented COVID-19 symptoms. The Astros, who also train in Florida, announced that a player at their Palm Beach facilities tested positive "several days ago" and is recovering after experiencing mild symptoms."

The move is consistent with what Bolton said and what people expect of Trump.

Berman was also involved with the investigation of Parnas and the Ukraine scandal.

I don't give a damn what Limbaugh says.
If, big if, he has cancer, it would make him very susceptible to any virus.
I happen to think his cancer is a hoax.

Florida governor DeSantis blamed it on Hispanic migrants.

Florida and Texas governors blame spike in coronavirus cases on increased testing - CNNPolitics

    excerpts:

"At a time when Floridians continue to pack bars and restaurants, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis brushed away questions about his culpability in aggressively reopening his state during a press conference this week. In remarks layered with racial overtones, he blamed the surge in cases, in part, on crowded living conditions in migrant families. He said the state would also take a closer look at the spread of the virus among construction workers and day laborers, who he said are "overwhelmingly Hispanic.""

"Abbott has focused on Texas's ability to handle new cases as hospitalizations reached a new record this week with 2,947 coronavirus patients -- nearly doubling since Memorial Day (when 1,534 hospitalizations were reported), according to the Texas Department of State Health Services dashboard."

If Florida governor DeSantis thinks that Hispanic migants are causing the renewed outbreaks of the cornonavirus, it leaves to the imagination what his assessment might be of the risk of a string of events of 20,000 Trump supporters packed in indoor venues screaming without face masks.

    More cover ups.
Barr is doing his best to protect Trump at the expense of the United States and its legal system.

Its been 10 days since the number of new daily cases got back over 1000 in Florida, we should have seen a corresponding jump in deaths as well, but they are going down

They opened up bars and restaurants again, a certain % of the population got scared and went out to get tested, increasing testing

Apart from that, most of these new clusters are tied to prisons and agricultural workers. See if you can find any clusters related to bars and restaurants, you wont

You need an institution where people have regular contact with the same people over several days for a cluster. Hence why its always hospitals, nursing homes, meat processing plants, prisons etc

Its not going to spread because of bars, restaurants, or Trump rallys. There is no sustained viral load in these environments

Trump is still doing his stale, drole rants.

Trump lashed out at Fauci and threatened to not watch the NFL if any players don't stand for the national anthem. He could even send Mike Pence again to NFL games at taxpayer expense for the sake of walking out during the national anthem if a player kneels.

This time the NFL hasn't bowed to Trump concerning the issue of players making symbolic protests.

Hopes of a baseball season dimmed after the training facilities had to be decontaminated after positive tests for the coronavirus (which Trump and Pence would blame on increased testing due to the claimed best-ever testing machine Trump allegedly made whose results he wants to stifle because he says they are now making him look bad). A similar situation looms for the NFL.

Why More Testing Doesn't Explain the Rise in COVID-19 in Several New U.S. Hotspots
By Chris Wilson and Tara Law

Why More Testing Doesn't Explain the Rise in COVID-19 in Several New U.S. Hotspots

    excerpt:

"In Arizona, there are two major reasons the increase in daily new cases shouldn’t be attributed to increased testing, says Dr. Joe Gerald, the director of public health policy and management at the University of Arizona Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. For one, the uptick appears to have started 10 to 14 days after the end of the state’s stay-at-home order—and 14 days is the timeframe in which health experts agree that COVID-19 symptoms typically appear. That’s a pretty good sign that the uptick is connected to the state’s initial attempts at re-opening. Second, hospital admissions are rising along with the overall positive-case numbers, says Gerald. In theory, if tests were merely catching more people with less severe COVID-19 symptoms (who previously would have been missed when tests were only available for severe cases), then hospital admissions should have been declining, or at least remaining steady. That’s not the case, however.'

Trump said this week that he would quell the coronavirus hot spots but didn't say how.

20,000 Trump supporters packed in indoor venues in states experiencing hot spots such as Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida isn't a remedy.
