I don't think Trump is aware of the % of minorities in the service. He is assuming it's a bunch of white racists. That is a huge problem. My friend talks about it all the time. No one will join and those that do are often pretty nationalistic and confederate. They don't really know anything but the important thing they have NOTHING at home so they are prime targets.

So you kind of accept they are cannon fodder and keep the real work for people who see the gray area. But it's true a lot of these racists could be in a spot to live out their fantasy.

Who needs opportunity? Poor people. A lot of whites are poor but the a lot of inner city non-whites fall for the recruiters sales pitch too. And guess what? They hate their white coworkers too, They just need the paycheck so they get used to hearing the N word daily.

Then why would you all give a shit?

If you really believed he was toast in November then why would you all bother posting in these kind of threads trying to convince yourselves and others?

The homoerotic aspects of Trumpism fascinate me

Ir's really important a fat old man be "strong" for all the apparently straight men. Have you seen some of the comics and memes that circulate among his sites? You should compare them to gay porn. You would find a lot in common in your posts and those sites.

Just like when he killed all the Vietcong. He stopped Communism all by himself. He didn't dodge any drafts when he was young and healthy. So it's totally believable now he could win a fight with anyone. I mean he really is 6'3 he does not wear lifts and he is not overweight with a bad heart lol.

Actually he might have stopped communism all by himself, well, along with Sars-CoV-2

Give it another couple years, I give it a 50/50 chance China will do a USSR and we'll have 50 new little countries no one can pronounce or know where the hell they are

Trump's conference call with State Governors has been 'leaked'. The stupid bastard has to know that in order to arrest people there has to be a reason for that arrest and/or detention. Any arrest without 'reasonable suspicion' will result in a counter law suit for wrongful arrest and illegal detention.

Donald Trump says state governors are ‘weak’ in face of protests

    PA
    Jun 1st 2020 1:40PM
President Donald Trump has derided the nation's governors as "weak" and demanded tougher crackdowns on protesters in the aftermath of another night of violent protests in dozens of US cities.

Mr Trump spoke to governors on a video teleconference with law enforcement and national security officials, telling the local leaders they "have to get much tougher" amid nationwide protests and criticising their responses.

"Most of you are weak," Mr Trump said.

    "You have to arrest people."

The days of protests were triggered by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after he was pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer.

They turned violent in several cities, with looting and mayhem, and fires ignited in the historic park across from the White House.

US attorney general Bill Barr, who was also on the Monday call, told governors they have to "dominate" the streets and control, not react to crowds, and urged them to "go after troublemakers".

During a protest in Washington DC, Mr Trump was rushed to a White House bunker on Friday night by Secret Service agents as hundreds of people protesting against the death of Mr Floyd gathered outside the executive mansion, some of them throwing rocks and tugging at police barricades.

Mr Trump spent nearly an hour in the bunker, which was designed for use in emergencies like terrorist attacks, according to a Republican close to the White House who was not authorised to publicly discuss it and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The source's account was confirmed by an administration official who also spoke on condition of anonymity.

The abrupt decision by the agents underscored the rattled mood inside the White House, where the chants from protesters in Lafayette Park could be heard all weekend and Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers struggled to contain the crowds.

Demonstrators in Washington are protesting against the death of George Floyd in police custody (Alex Brandon/AP)
Friday's protests were triggered by the death of Mr Floyd, a black man who died after he was pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer.

The demonstrations in Washington turned violent and appeared to catch officers by surprise, sparking one of the highest alerts on the White House complex since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

"The White House does not comment on security protocols and decisions," said White House spokesman Judd Deere, while the Secret Service said it does not discuss the means and methods of its protective operations.

The president and his family have been shaken by the size and venom of the crowds, according to the Republican source.

It was not immediately clear if First Lady Melania Trump and the couple's 14-year-old son, Barron, joined the president in the bunker, though Secret Service protocol would have called for all those under the agency's protection to be in the underground shelter.

"These were the people that trashed Seattle years ago. Who's paying for these people. I was appalled that 13 of Joe Biden's staff were donating money to bail people out in Minneapolis. They should have stayed in jail until this is over (and beyond)." @newtgingrich@foxandfriends

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 1, 2020

Mr Trump travelled to Florida on Saturday to view the first manned space launch from the US in nearly a decade.

He returned to a White House under virtual siege, with protesters, some violent, gathered just a few hundred yards away through much of the night.

Demonstrators returned Sunday afternoon, facing off against police at Lafayette Park into the evening.

As cities burned night after night and images of violence dominated television coverage, Mr Trump's advisers discussed the prospect of an Oval Office address in an attempt to ease tensions.

But the notion was quickly scrapped for lack of policy proposals and the president's own seeming disinterest in delivering a message of unity.

In recent days security at the White House has been reinforced by the National Guard and additional personnel from the Secret Service and the US Park Police.

On Sunday, the Justice Department deployed members of the US Marshals Service and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration to supplement National Guard troops outside the White House, according to a senior Justice Department official who spoke anonymously.

Nixon's visit to the Lincoln Memorial occurred on May 9, 1970, a few days after the Kent State shootings.

The Story of the Really Weird Night Richard Nixon Hung Out With Hippies at the Lincoln Memorial
It was one of the unlikeliest spectacles in Washington history: the President of the United States paying a late-night visit to thousands of radical protesters camped out at the Lincoln Memorial. Here’s how it happened.

The Story of the Really Weird Night Richard Nixon Hung Out With Hippies at the Lincoln Memorial

    excerpt:

“I said, ‘Get your clothes on, and we will go down to the Lincoln Memorial,’” Nixon said in a version of events he dictated for the record several days later. “Well, I got dressed, and at approximately 4:35, we left the White House and drove to the Lincoln Memorial. I have never seen the Secret Service quite so petrified with apprehension.”

With cause. Protesters had already gathered at the memorial in advance of Saturday’s demonstration against the war, against the Kent State dead, against, most personally and viscerally, Richard Nixon himself. But a man on a manic high, as the President almost certainly was, and the commander in chief of the world’s largest army and his own Secret Service, as he constitutionally was, is not easily dissuaded.

A famous photograph captures the next scene: Nixon in suit and tie, the ski-nose profile tilted slightly forward, a handful of sleepy-eyed demonstrators listening in shock and dull amazement, maybe wondering what drug could have produced such an apparition, as the President reprised his press-conference triumph for an early-morning audience who, stranded on the Mall, hadn’t watched a moment of it."

Trump using tear gas to clear people so that he could do a photo-op in front of a church while holding a Bible (upside-down) is a grand version of his infamous pushing the leader of Montenegro out of the way to be in front of the group when he saw the press setting up cameras at the NATO summit in 2017.

So, let me get this straight

Lincoln, the white guy arguably most responsible for ending slavery, his memorial was vandalized in the protests?

Just so you know, jagerhans - I DID NOT vote for that asshole. And I agree with your assessment of the anti-Christ he surely seems to be. Everything he says and does is the opposite of what Jesus would say & do. Jesus emptied Himself to the point of dying on the Cross for others. Jesus served others in all sorts of ways, and was not self-centered. Everything Rump says and does is for his own fame & glory - and political / business gain. Rump is the very book definition of being self-centered.

I pray to GOD that this country wakes up and comes to it's senses - and votes Rump and muck-mouth Moscow Mitch and the other right-wing radicals OUT. I saw some yard signs recently that read,
"For the Love of GOD ……………… ANYONE but Trump!"

    Hope springs eternal.

Well, it's certainly a lot more complex and there are more causes than just capitalism and the economic divide. Everything from the mob mentality effect social media gives rise to / Traditional media of old has diluted down to clickbait headlines both left and right / Covid lockdown stress and isolation / standard isolation and depression that came from high density living, internet addiction and another dozen different reasons

Interesting you haven't mentioned the issue of unemployment, poor job prospects, poverty wages, poor housing conditions, poor community social services, poor child care facilities etc, etc.

So in you view the demonstrations are not due to racial, social and economic concerns but have more to do with social media driven hysteria, internet addiction, lockdown stress and depression?

Where did you get that view, can you cite any sources?

I should also say this - only half of eligible-age voters in the U.S. actually get off their lazy asses and vote. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have died in wars for our freedoms - one of which is the right to vote in free & FAIR elections. If you don't vote …………….DON'T BITCH.

If the people of this country think we're headed in a wrong direction - that there's corruption - racism - political power-grabbing going on - that there's been an incompetent, too-late, un-coordinated response to the corona virus, causing unnecessary extra harm to our economy - that Rump sides with & praises COMMUNIST DICTATORS - that Rump lies so much it's hard to keep a tally of them - that Rump & his REPUBLICAN PUPPET CRONIES have rolled back & eliminated environmental protections, further harming the Earth's climate, and leaving a more polluted world for our children & grandchildren …………………….

then go get registered to vote and when November gets here ……………………… get off your asses and go VOTE RUMP & MOSCOW MITCH OUT !!!!!!!!!!

Change doesn't happen by sitting on the sidelines. Instead of violent protests, ( peaceful protests are LEGAL by the Constitution! ) looting & burning …………………. use your REAL POWER ………………. in the voting booth!!!

DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to register to vote ……………….. DO IT NOW !!!! Take all of your personal identification materials with you to make registering quicker and easier.

Can I also ask this if people on the right say they favour even celebrate peaceful protest why did so many on the right malign those black footballers that ‘took the knee’ ,cheered on Trump when he said he wanted those ‘sons of bitches’ sacked and even sent players death threats.
