It’s too early to compare this virus with those that have hit us in the past- it’s still knocking folks down- literally just started.

I just watched this Friday. Kickboxer was all flashy and shit until he started feeling those kicks. Prancing around the ring like he was the shit until he got humbled and schooled.

It was an interesting fight to watch. That was before Muay Thai was well known. He had no answer for those kicks. Even in round 1 the Thai boxer was slowly chopping away.

At first those who wanted to end the lockdown were a lunatic fringe but now just a couple weeks later more and more people are starting to feel the same way. As time goes by many are getting the attitude, "Let the chips fall where they may, let's end this!"

Sure, except that we still don't have the medical facilities to deal with the current number of cases, let alone if there's a surge in cases. If I get the virus and have pneumonia I don't want to be on a waiting list to be put on a respirator because they're all taken.

Still, there's talk of trying partial re-openings and I'm now willing to give it a try. Bars and restaurants might re-open with social distancing rules. Limited occupancy, every other table must be empty, all employees must wear masks and gloves, no physical contact, etc.

What we really need is coronavirus testing that's free, easily available, reliable and with quick results. Then I can show people a note from my doctor or an app on my phone stating I'm not infected so I can get a haircut, shop in a specialty store or sit in a bar. And if I do get the virus I need to have the info stating when I'm no longer contagious so I can show that to people.

It appears we overestimated our technology. I thought with modern computerized medical research we'd be able to come up with a cure or vaccine fairly quickly, but it's not happening. There are a lot of hard lessons to be learned from this and I hope we take them to heart.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the quick easily available testing... At least not for free.

The rich people might get access to something like that, the big wig politicians in DC already do have access. The man on the street? I doubt it will happen any time soon..

A lady friend of mine who owns a picture framing shop has re-opened though she's not supposed to, and I got a voicemail from my chiropractor saying he's taking appointments now, so it appears we're starting to crawl out from under the rock covering us for the past 2 months.

I want to propose a toast to all the things that are helping us get through the lockdown.

    Family and friends

    The frontline workers

TV, cellphones, the internet, books & magazines, whatever.

And last but certainly not least......drugs & alcohol! Woo hoo!

Nursing homes, and soldiers home deaths comprise nearly 60% of all deaths here in Massachusetts

self interest continues to drive us over the brink. no news in the news.

its never too late to start seriously reducing the total, unbiased, human birth rate.
and it is, our own population level that is the multiplier of everything else we are doing wrong,
that has pushed us passed the tipping point of the ecopocalypse, this current plague is just the beginning of.

we still have a choice though, not to avoid entirely, but of how many sapients there will be, to be born to see the morning after of it.

i still think clean energy and clean transportation are steps in the right direction, but it is absolutely population that is the multiplier.
