If guilt is the operative word describing conscience, in a hypothetical scenario where I was stuck outside all day with no possible way to alleviate myself and raced home only to not make it to the toilet and ended up shitting on a rug with no one around, I don't think I would feel guilty about it at all. If I shit on the rug at a department store, I certainly would feel self-conscious and have a sense of guilt about it.

    It depends on the circumstances.

I've always thought conscience to be motive in being predictive not reactionary.

People do it all the time with animals.

That’s a fair outlook, but, how do you get to predictive?

    Conditioning.

If left to your own devices, assuming nurturing took place to the point that you could feed yourself........
You would shit like a dog, whenever you had to go, and wherever you happened to be.
After stepping in your own shit a few times, you might learn to bury it like a cat, or shit in a predetermined location like rabbits.

Example, you did something, it upset somebody. You feel guilt. (Conscience)
You didn’t, and couldn’t know the outcome until after the event. Reactionary.

but since the dough has to be cooked, the mere act of heating it for quite a while will destroy most of the germs currently thriving thereon and therefore it is now )after baking) safe to consume !!!

I think there is an ability to abstract scenarios as well, which leads to this gestalt type thing or perhaps better described as an emergent property of consciousness, where various aspects that make the thing up might have been cultivated with conditioning to some extent but in it's totality, we can say give us the ability to approach moral conundrums which we have little to no experiential basis of. It's not clear to me at all that dogs, cats or any other animals possess that quality of mind. It almost seems like this paradox, where if we open the scope of various animal behaviors to fall under the umbrella of some of these terms, they lose their meaning to an extent but if the terms are limited to our human experience, than we cannot really describe the animal behaviors.

Some of that might come off as a bit fluff, I'm trying to describe it the best way I can while getting a bit drowsy.

If we are to suggest animals have conscience, pointing to social structure as you did seems useful to acknowledge.

You’re not getting graded on your text messages, it’s okay to be a little more chill. What’s grammatically correct doesn’t always coincide with the vibe you’re giving off. :p

Dang, three exclamation points? I didn’t know you felt so strongly about cookies. Lol :p

Oh matey no !!! - I can do much better than that !!! - Only yesterday did I (properly) roast a joint of beef in the oven with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roast carrots and some gravy. The remains of the beef joint I will chop up and make a proper beef stew with home-made suet dumplings.

I wou;ldn't touch 'em even if they all 'lumped together', I do not (and have no intention of buying one) own a microwave oven. I have strong objection to radiated food, I prefer cooking all my meals from scratch.

Some people don't have the capacity/capability to do that - though a lack of education (of how to), personal health or inaptitude when attempting to do so Vlad

I too am in poor health, and struggle often, but that doesn't stop me and I don't give in to it. Furthermore my mother had the good sense to teach me to cook when I was a teenager, so that she and my Father could go away on holiday, leaving me to house-sit and know I wouldn't starve (there were no such things as take-aways, apart from fish'n chip shops) back then.
