I read something saying that many insurance companies are offering money back because people are barely driving. I've had the same tank of gas for a month; which is terribly unusual, but in a good way.

  2. I change oil religiously and realized yesterday that it was probably about that time. But I've only driven about 50 miles in the last month or so. When it's usually about 300 a week. However, the insurance company is still punishing me for a wreck I had 4 years ago followed by the most expensive speeding ticket I've ever seen. I doubt they'll be coming forth with any breaks.

I don’t trust celebs and there motives in doing stuff. Probably a publicity stunt and a set up photo on some empty studio lot. I mean two people for one cart? And took it in front of some construction zone behind them. Also he is not wearing gloves.

they also won’t be stopping you now, with this virus, how fast were you going over? Here you can lose your licence for speeding if fast enough. We work on a points system here,

  5. Same here, but it was years ago when I was returning from my last Middle Eastern trip. I was so glad to be back in America I drove with my foot on the floor across Florida. I was only 5 miles from Georgia when they nabbed me.

ah, I would have thought they would have cut you some slack. But yeah, border crossings always have cops near by. Crossing from Ontario to Quebec there are always french cops waiting for ontario plates.

Car insurers' rebates and discounts are giving billions back to drivers. It may not be enough - CNN

Unfortunately, my insurance, AAA, is not among those mentioned as giving out money. Maybe I should just call them... It's not like there's a whole lot else I'm doing! :tonguewink:

I just don't get some these places. Like yes the country is in "lockdown" but how are they closing several hundred stores just because they've been closed a few days or weeks? Like what happens when everything is opening back up again?

And I don't understand Club based sports teams having to sack their staff because the clubs club can't run business for a few weeks. People literally got sacked the first day of closing because the club was unable to open for gambling. I don't get how that works. What a gambling club with pokies and casino can't run for a day and you've got no money for staff? Fuck outta here.

My insurance company says they are doing that "rebate" thing but there seems to be no way to collect on it without downloading an app that tracks the geo-location of your phone. You know.... make sure you aren't going somewhere....

    Seeing as I don't have a device they can't track me with, I don't get a rebate.

    What in the world???

There must be a way that doesn't involve big brother watching! lame...

Well. I just Googled after I posted that & it looks as if I spoke too soon. A media outlet from Sacramento (the capital city in California) reports that AAA will be doing some kind of rebate thing. That's always nice.

I remain hopeful that they won't insert some kind of tracking device under my skin...

I was wrong. I just checked it out and a quick search revealed they may give money back! :)

  14. It's amazing how the methods of a "Big Brother" have bee adopted by corporations. And not because they give a squat what you think or how you should be thinking. Nope, it's all about working more profit by limiting their exposure if you step ever so slightly from their rules.

The virus isnt going to go away.. They locked down a nursing home here a month ago.. But 49people in there got it anyway. 2died. that means the others recovered.. I would think if grampa is kicking coronas ass. Maybe we can just distance but not need to close everything down.. There has to be a better strategy..

The best strategy is the winning the strategy and the winning strategy is to fight fire with fire, always. So the solution is simple. We will create a new virus thst will go in and kill this virus. :) simples.

I'm curious how we'll proceed when the unavoidable 2nd wave occurs. Do we just shut down whenever people start getting sick? Should we? I believe the right steps have been taken thus far but in three or four weeks we need to start getting back to normal.

It will be something in between. But if things really stagnate I'm sure some work will be picked up again in the US in max a month. Yet also pretty sure some safety measures in society will remain for quite some time.
Like, maybe restaurants will have to reduce the amount of tables in order to have more space for social distancing. Speculating on the details though!

I think that's probably the right way to go. Smother it out to flatten the curve and extend our healthcare system from getting overwhelmed, and then start opening up, and be prepared for regional shutdowns where needed.

Asmo's not wrong, we aren't certain of herd immunity, but we can't keep this up forever. We would starve.
