egger post #21289 - Your points are well-made. One thing we don't hear enough is the fact that covid-19 is a NEW virus - with NO vaccine, and NO treatment. When Trump or others compare covid-19 to regular flu's in terms of death rate, for those "regular" flu's we have vaccines for them and treatments like Tamiflu and other antivirals that work to some degree. We can at least get a flu shot for those and lessen the risks - if we choose to. We can't get a shot for covid-19. For anyone to compare "regular" flu's to covid-19 is comparing apples to oranges. We have some ways to put the "brakes" on regular flu's - but no such way to do so with covid-19.
Trump is hoping to get lucky that the virus will end by Easter. People can then say "See, I told you so. It was a hoax. Trump's gut was right and everyone else was wrong." He said he sees packed churches that he describes like they are rallies for him that he currently can't do and misses greatly. They will be praising Turmp for his victory on Easter Sunday. He can return to his regularly scheduled rallies of bigotry in the hopes of being reelected, which are much more fun than his White House rallies where he is forced to face reporters and officials from the medical and science community. This is how Trump views the world. A grand rally for him.
In an interview back in the 80's with, I believe Playboy magazine, Trump said this, "The show is Trump. And it's on 24-7." (His mug and his comments are on video tape for all the unbelieving Trump lemmings.)
Yes the guy is a mental phenomenon. He was to charge Muslim Americans with terrorism for spreading Coronavirus but he wants to lift curfews on a national scale.
But what if...what if, the virus doesn't co-operate, as most medical experts expect it won't. Then all those folks packed into their churches praising Trump may contract and spread the virus. What will they be doing in Novermber?
It should be important to all of us, because four more years of his reckless, erratic and self-centered actions and policies could threaten our national survival.
Ah, "should" Been hearing a lot about what people should do and should think the last two months Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · Mar 25 Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong! First leader in the world to have the fortitude to say it
Trump commits to helping blue states fight the coronavirus — if their governors are nice to him The president prefers to be surrounded by sycophants. By Aaron Rupar Mar 25, 2020, 2:00pm EDT Trump commits to helping blue states fight the coronavirus — if their governors are nice to him excerpt: "When Trump isn’t attacking Democratic governors — already this month he’s described Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as “failing,” accused Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker of “blaming the Federal Government for [his] own shortcomings,” and smeared Washington Gov. Jay Inslee as “a snake” — the president has been insisting that it’s up to them to procure the supplies they need to prevent their hospitals from being overwhelmed. “They have to get that gear themselves,” Trump told Fox News on Tuesday, referring to Democratic governors, adding that “they shouldn’t be hitting us.” (It’s worth noting that Trump hasn’t criticized Republican governors for their coronavirus responses.) But telling the states to fend for themselves isn’t really viable insofar as Trump’s goal is to save lives, not score political points."
New York reaches a coronavirus breaking point with Trump New York’s mayor projects raw anguish, while the governor pursues an on-again/off-again truce with the Trump administration. By ERIN DURKIN and ANNA GRONEWOLD 03/25/2020 12:43 PM EDT New York reaches a coronavirus breaking point with Trump excerpt: "That appeared to change on Tuesday, when Cuomo directed the full weight of his fury at the administration as the spread of coronavirus in his state threatened to spiral out of control. “The president says it’s a war,” Cuomo fumed, his voice rising at a press conference at the Javits Center, the massive Manhattan convention hall now being turned into an emergency hospital. “Well then act like it’s a war!” Faced with New York’s need for 30,000 ventilators to keep virus patients alive when the spread of the virus peaks - which could happen in as soon as two weeks - the federal government has sent 400 from its stockpile. "You pick the 26,000 people who are going to die because you only sent 400 ventilators," an angry Cuomo demanded."
Trump to New York: Drop Dead Untold thousands will likely die, absent federal intervention. And it needs to happen this instant. Why won’t the president help? By Jennifer Senior Opinion columnist March 24, 2020 Opinion | Trump to New York: Drop Dead excerpt: "So it’s essentially come to this: President Trump is treating each of our 50 states as individual contestants on “The Apprentice” — pitting them against one another for scarce resources, daring them to duke it out — rather than mobilizing a unified national response to a pandemic. If that’s the case, this is the episode where New York loses. The coronavirus is whipping through the state, especially New York City, at a terrifying rate. We need personnel, ventilators and personal protective equipment, stat. But Trump’s response has been the same as President Gerald Ford’s in 1975, when our city, faltering on the brink of insolvency, begged Washington for help and was brutally rebuffed, a moment forever enshrined in The Daily News’s headline “FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD.” Now Trump is telling us the same. Literally."
Coronavirus Cases Rise Rapidly, but Cuomo Sees Progress: Live Updates White House officials have been focused on New York as it has emerged as the epicenter of the national outbreak. The New York Times March 25, 2020 Coronavirus Cases Rise Rapidly, but Cuomo Sees Progress: Live Updates excerpt: "Though the number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to grow quickly and has now topped 30,000, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday said that there were early signs that stringent restrictions on social gatherings and other measures could be slowing the virus’s spread. Mr. Cuomo highlighted data that showed slowing hospitalization rates. On Sunday, the state’s projections showed hospitalizations doubling every two days, while Tuesday’s estimates showed them doubling every 4.7 days. “That is almost too good to be true,” the governor said, “but the theory is, given the density that we’re dealing with, it spreads very quickly, but if you reduce the density, you can reduce the spread very quickly.”"
Trump's businesses barred from bailout money in Senate coronavirus bill "It’s not aimed just at Donald Trump, but at anyone in high office," Schumer told MSNBC's "Morning Joe." By Allan Smith March 25, 2020, 3:05 PM UTC Trump's businesses barred from bailout money in Senate coronavirus bill
The Trump administration wants to charge Muslims with terrorism for spreading Coronavirus at the same time they want to lift the curfew for all others. If it does not sink in keep repeating it until it does sink in.
