He may have said that because it's true. He joined the University of Pennsylvania as the Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor. That is his title and academic rank, given to him by an accredited and distinguished university. It was an unusual appointment, since he wasn't expected to do any teaching and I'm sure he wasn't doing research either. It seems to have been a partnership of mutual convenience--the University gaining the prestige of having a former vice president and U.S . on its faculty, and Biden gaining the prestige of an academic appointment. Critics could certainly question the propriety of the arrangement. It has the potential of undermining the academic credibility of the University. For Biden to claim it seems like vitae padding, a common but dubious academic practice. But it wasn't a fraudulent claim. As for Trump, has he made any dubious claims about his achievements? Let's see now...
