If cancer does slip a generation then I'm also pretty much fucked, but I don't like to think about it. Probably why I live in the moment a bit. Did you know before I was born one of my grandaddys was a bus driver for a school and one day he had an accident and the bus was about to blow in flames and he ran in and carried out all the children before it went BOOM. He was awarded a very special and rare award recognised by the nation. And I think to myself... That was a guy with most of his fingers missing from the war and that's my blood and that's my genes...and I got fucken big shoes to fill there. And that's me man, gotta live life to the fullest!

Though it does dawn on me at times. If cancer does skip the generation. When I was young I just assumed that when I got sick when I was old there'd be a cure. Now I'm laying in this bathtub with a fucked up back and a shoulder full of metal and I gotta see outta these eyes and I don't even know how much longer for.... The world has let me down. Science has let me down. Technology has let me down...

.....

But, I got blood in me that survived 2 world wars and won that award for saving those children and like, fuck I ain't going to go down to some fucken flu named after a lite beer.

I'll also die knowing I had a thriving sex life.

 

Yeah, early 80s I thought there would be hotels on the moon by now, and yes a cure for cancer
