Having been on a ship, for years, I can assure you Kirk was no republican. Ships' captains are feudal lords, by design. A ship is a singular weapon and as such is expected to be reliable and obedient. A captain is given a wide berth for making this happen. While we didn't have keel hauling, we did have shipboard punishment that even included bread & water! In the late 70s.

I would say that the Republicans Intellect is ok but their policies are terrible along with some of the politicians.
