He's not getting a single new voter. If turnout isn't really low, he loses. He'll stay ahead in gambling until he has a single opponent though.
I tend to agree, I don't think he's going to win that easily like so many seem to think. His voters are old and dying, and new voters who have turned 18 since the last election certainly arent voting for him. The only thing that guarantees a win for Trump is if voter turn out is low because voters get complacent because they keep hearing that Trump is going to win as if it's a fact
I dunno “melanie” (haha that’s your name now), I think the trouble lies with so many of the rank and file democrats who keep calling Trump and Co. morons is more common.(edit:this is a confusing sentence, and poorly worded but fuck it) Not implying you’re a rank and file democrat nor have I noticed you calling anyone a moron. (Except one poster one time but that was out of total frustration and pretty hilarious). But I do concede that a defeatist attitude, which I personally seem to have espoused, is at least as detrimental as underestimating the opposition.
Well the moron vote will go to Trump, but he already has that--along with the bigots, troglodytes, and deplorables.
That's Melania to you, McGul Do you mean...lumping Trump voters together as a basket of deplorables without attempting to understand or address their economic concerns? Yeah, I agree with that. The Democrats already have a reputation for being elitist, and just looking down on half the country doesnt do anything to expand their tent. Or do you mean just underestimating Trump in general? The defeatist attitude is killing me though (not yours, just in general). Reading through op eds and internet comments, one gets the impression that not only has Trump won but he's already refused to leave office after 4 more years and now we're just stuck with him until he dies
Heard the exact same argument on this site in the lead up to the British elections, everyone that turned 18 in the last two years was somehow a) going to turn up to vote b) vote labour 4 years in the US's case. Yes you have a certain amount of young voters eligible to vote that weren't before.....offset of course by old farts near retirement age that are 4 years older that only care about tax on their retirement savings and switch to voting conservative
That's a good point and I agree to some degree. In contrast, Americans did complain of Russian interference, did they not? And if you look at Iraq and Iran and Afghanistan, American interference is not welcome. So, while many call for globalism and the end of nation states, I'll point out that ethnic character is not such a bad thing. Additionally, we do have laws which prohibit outside interference. Participation in American elections is a right reserved for Americans like me.
Don't worry, they have been trying that for years Doesn't even have to be about American Politics 1. I hate fake self righteousness 2. It's fun making fun of crazy conspiracy theories 3. I hate socialism 4. Anything that helps halt the Chinese Communist Party's slimey tentacles criss crossing the globe is a godsend, and yes Trump has done quite nicely over the last couple years in that regard. Thankyou Donald J Indeed
To answer your questions... Yes to both. I think one kind of leads to the other. I mean if we think they're all a bunch of idiots I believe that alone can't help but make one underestimate said idiots. Plus... We can't win over a portion of the electorate by insulting them. There is a huge swath of Independents who can go either way... I don't think they’ll vote with the people who think those who disagree are automatically stupid.
70% of people under 30 do not like trump. Will this turn into anti trump votes? or if a candidate doesn't get the nomination, and that candidate's supporters don't vote, or vote for an obscure candidate, as a protest vote. what in tar nation. This here is 'murica, and he needs to spell the 'murican way. Then stop Well, good for you. Do you have the corona virus?
I am going to guess that more democrats have college degrees than republicans. Therefore, people who have degrees are considered elitists, by the have nots.
This would pretty much be my counter argument Arts, History.....technically its tertiary education....but...pffft lolz
