Big deal. One poll. Might mention Warren had 14% and Buttigieg 10%, just behind Bloomberg, who got 15%. Quinnipiac also showed all of them beating Trump: Bloomberg by the biggest margin (+9%), followed by Bernie (+8%), Biden (+7%), Warren & Buttigieg (+4% each).

  2. God it would be such a shame if someone as dignified as Bernie won. I'm against it.

It isnt really just one poll though. Biden has been falling in several polls recently

See how he does with African-American voters. No Democrat has a serious chance without them. Biden's support from them has been declining, too--in favor of Bloomberg!

But if 10% of economists are smarter than the rest, what does that make the other 90%?

If you believe in experts, unless you believe they are all as equally knowledgeable, experienced, and intelligent as each other, then there has to be one that knows better than all the rest. So who is, where is that person?

He/She isnt writing articles for the NY times

"Most economists don't think trade wars are a good idea" and yet....well google Dow Jones, then click on "max" to see that jump since 2010

If "Most economists" actually means most financial writers for the world's media organizations and no hedge fund managers, no heads of the world's biggest super fund managers....well

I want it to be Bernie, because the final debates will be mad fun. Bernie vs Trump in the debates, that's some entertaining shit

Any of the others, I just don't see them winning against Trump in the debates anyway

I was just saying this in the election thread the other day, but I dont think that its just because of Trump.
Biden doesnt do well in debates, he isnt always particularly coherent, he's said some pretty off putting things in town halls, he doesnt handle journalists well, and he's also competing against moderates who are getting more national recognition now and are brighter and more energetic than him.

More election year stunts by Trump using Barr as his yes man.

Trump admin sues New Jersey and Washington state county over 'sanctuary' policies
The Justice Department is suing the state of New Jersey and King county in Washington state over their sanctuary policies.

Trump admin sues NJ and Washington state county over 'sanctuary' policies

    excerpt:

"The Department of Justice is also seeking to halt a recent local policy in Washington state's most populous county which prevents Immigration and Customs Enforcement from using a King County airport for deportation flights.

Attorney General William Barr announced the lawsuits just hours after President Donald Trump, speaking at a gathering of governors in Washington, D.C., described sanctuary cities as a "tremendous problem."

"Today is a significant escalation in the federal government’s efforts to confront the resistance of 'sanctuary cities,'" Barr said. "But by no means do the efforts outlined above signify the culmination of our fight to ensure the rule of law, to defend the Constitution, and to keep Americans safe.""

Based on the sample I have had of my undergraduate macroeconomics, graduate macroeconomics, international economics and trade, land economics, natural resource economics, and economic development professors....I can safely say that you are wrong. In 4 years of undergraduate and my masters program I didn’t meet an economics professor agreeing with your statements...any of them. Never met a”financial writer”. The Dow Jones by the way is not a measure of how robust the US economy is.

Barr formally states that he accepts Giuliani as his backchannel conduit.

Giuliani has no official government attributes in the Trump administration. It's unclear where he is obtaining his money for Trump's dirt digging activities. The inadvertent message Giuliani left on the voicemail of the wrong number he dialed offered a clue. He said he needed to contact someone who apparently was away on a trip in the Mideast. Giuliani said he needed a few hundred grand in his botched phone call.

'Open door’ for Rudy Giuliani to hand over Ukrainian dirt on Biden: AG Barr

    excerpt:

"All the president’s men are teaming up.

Attorney General William Barr said Monday he has left “an open door" for Rudy Giuliani to hand over Ukrainian political dirt on Joe Biden for Justice Department review, suggesting he’s all ears to the debunked allegations.

Speaking to reporters at Justice Department headquarters, Barr confirmed claims from South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham a day earlier that his agency had “created a process” by which Giuliani could transmit information about the former vice president gathered from dubious Ukrainian sources."

Barr "creating a process" could be as little as Barr listening to Giuliani's podcast, which Giuliani has encouraged everyone to do.

Even Graham publicly expressed reservations about Giuliani who was howling on the weekend talk shows for Graham to jump onboard the dirt digging express because he's got the goods.

'Open door’ for Rudy Giuliani to hand over Ukrainian dirt on Biden: AG Barr

    excerpt:

"Parnas, who has broken with Giuliani since his indictment, recently said Barr was involved in Trump’s Ukraine scheme and “had to have known everything” that went on.

Democrats were stunned by Barr’s Monday admission.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler sent a letter to Barr calling on him to recuse himself from any official business involving Giuliani and asked him to answer a long list of questions about the process by which the ex-mayor is apparently sending information to the Justice Department.

“As you know, the department has formal, established channels by which to receive information and begin investigations,” Nadler (D-N.Y.) wrote in the letter. “This new channel to Mr. Giuliani would seem to be a significant departure from those traditional channels.”"

Who said anything about robust. He said everytime Trump slaps on tariffs, the stock market plunges, maybe for a couple days, which attracts a lot of instant negative press. Then a week later it's back to the same place or higher...then so what.

As for all your professors, why are they working in universities? Why aren't they getting 10x or more the amount working for Rich Pratt Capital Management. They are part of that 90% than isn't the top 10%. And yes, it is that simple

Tell us, o great one, who is it? Do you have yourself in mind, or is there another great guru we should know about? Or is it Trump, himself, who also knows more than his generals about military strategy. A certain German lance-corporal from Austria thought the same thing about himself and military matters back in the day, and people began to believe it. Look where it got him and his country!
More than 1,000 economists warn Trump his trade views echo 1930s errors
Trump’s trade policies are worrying economists
Economists warn Trump's policies will start a 1930s-era trade war
Economists say Trump's trade war has the U.S. on the verge of recession
Trump's trade war is economic suicide
Economists Say Trump's Tariffs Are Unfavorable for U.S. Growth
Now that Trump is past the impeachment trial and feeling unbridled (unhinged), I suspect we'll see a more aggressive trade policy. See how that goes.
