Perhaps the Secret Service should escort Trump out of the White House in the name of national security.
Statement by Vindman at the impeach hearing in the House: "Next month will mark 40 years since my family arrived in the United States as refugees. When my father was 47 years old, he left behind his entire life and the only home he had ever known to start over in the United States so that his three sons could have better and safer lives. His courageous decision inspired a deep sense of gratitude in my brothers and myself and instilled in us a sense of duty and service. All three of us have served or are currently serving in the military. ... Our collective military service is a special part of our family’s story in America. I also recognize that my simple act of appearing here today, just like the courage of my colleagues who have also truthfully testified before this committee, would not be tolerated in many places around the world. In Russia, my act of expressing concern to the chain of command in an official and private channel would have severe personal and professional repercussions and offering public testimony involving the President would surely cost me my life. I am grateful for my father’s brave act of hope 40 years ago and for the privilege of being an American citizen and public servant, where I can live free of fear for mine and my family’s safety. Dad, my sitting here today, in the U.S. Capitol talking to our elected officials is proof that you made the right decision 40 years ago to leave the Soviet Union and come here to the United States of America in search of a better life for our family. Do not worry, I will be fine for telling the truth."
Alexander Vindman From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Alexander Vindman - Wikipedia excerpt: "Commissioned in 1999 as an infantry officer, Vindman received a Purple Heart medal for wounds he received from an IED attack in the Iraq War in 2004.[2][3] Vindman became a foreign area officer specializing in Eurasia in 2008, and assumed the position of Director for European Affairs with the NSC in 2018. Alexander Semyon Vindman (né Aleksandr Semyonovich Vindman) and his identical twin brother, Yevgeny, were born to a Jewish family in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union.[3][4] After the death of their mother, the three-year-old twins and their older brother, Leonid, were brought to New York in December 1979 by their father, Semyon (Simon). They grew up in Brooklyn's "Little Odessa" neighborhood. The twins appear briefly with their maternal grandmother in the Ken Burns documentary The Statue of Liberty.[5][3][6] Vindman speaks fluent Russian and Ukrainian.[7] He graduated in 1993 from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School.[8]"
And he remains fine. He still has his rank and a job. The president decides foreign policy. Vindman disagrees with the president’s policy so he’s off the team. Don’t see what the problem is. And we thank him for his honorable service.
by choice I bet. I wouldn't stick around if it were like that. And that's brotherhood. Where your brother is like "no way".
Trump's behavior doesn't impart confidence into qualified people from the Pentagon or elsewhere who may be considering an assignment at the White House. Trump is showing that all of their qualifications mean nothing if they don't remain completely loyal to him. Numerous other officials have either been fired, forced out, or have resigned after their experiences with Trump, such as Yovanovitch who was disposed by Trump through Giuliani. She subsequently retired.
Trump has been quiet about Giuliani. He doesn't seem to have mentioned him at post-impeachment verdict gatherings such as the National Prayer Breakfast 'hate thy neightbor' bitchfest and the White House hate-fest filled with white male Trump loyalists.
Mulvaney had the advantage of being Chief of Staff and also had financial power to withhold money to Ukraine as the head of the OMB. Trump's removal of Ambassador Yovanovitch via Giuliani (an unofficial official) was another move that allowed operations to circumvent normal, accountable channels. Ministers-of-everything make situations ripe for corruption. It's a consolidation of power held by a few people, an attribute of dictators.
Arthur Brooks tried to set a conciliatory tone of love thy neighbors for the prayer breakfast before Trump took the podium. It didn't work for Trump. Loving Enemies Is Hard at Post-Impeachment Prayer Breakfast Trump seems skeptical about Jesus' mandate. Bob Smietana in Washington, DC - RNS February 06, 2020 1:40 PM Loving Enemies Is Hard at Post-Impeachment Prayer Breakfast excerpt: "The event’s keynote speaker, Harvard University professor and author Arthur Brooks urged those in attendance not to let their disagreements over politics lead to contempt. Brooks recalled speaking to a group of conservative activists and telling them their political opponents were neither evil nor stupid. That line, he said, did not get much applause. He went on to talk about being raised by Christian parents in Seattle who had progressive politics. His parents were neither evil nor stupid, he said. And he challenged listeners to remember their loved ones who have different points of view—and to stand up for those who would ridicule them. Brooks also said Jesus asked his followers to love their enemies—not just tolerate them. Putting that into practice, he admitted, is hard. Brooks asked the crowd, “How many of you love somebody with whom you disagree politically?”"
I was curious at what you all were going to gripe about after he got acquitted Breathing patterns...of a 74 yr old....and you are surprised by this?
Trump Fires EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland After Impeachment Acquittal Marina Fang HuffPost February 7, 2020, 7:00 PM EST Trump Fires EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland After Impeachment Acquittal excerpt: "President Donald Trump fired European Union Ambassador Gordon Sondland Friday, in apparent retribution for testifying against him in the congressional impeachment proceedings. “I was advised today that the president intends to recall me effective immediately as United States Ambassador to the European Union,” Sondland said in a statement. He expressed gratitude to Mr. Trump “for having given me the opportunity to serve.” Sondland’s dismissal came just hours after Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman, the top National Security Council official on Ukraine who also testified against Trump, was fired and escorted out of the White House by security. In November, Sondland provided bombshell testimony, telling the House Intelligence Committee that Trump’s attempts to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dig up dirt on 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter amounted to a “clear quid pro quo.”"
Ukraine isn't part of the EU. Sondland was the EU ambassador and used by Trump as a conduit to circumvent the more appropriate channels through the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Yovanovitch, who Trump essentially fired. Trump's ploy to use Sondland didn't work either. Now he's fired. Get rid of Yovanovitch. Try Sondland. Stoop much lower and use Giuliani. After the scheme didn't work, fire anyone involved who didn't remain 100% loyal to Trump.
About seventeen people related to the Trump administration testified at the House impeachment hearings after Trump issued a decree to everyone to not testify. All should be prepared to be on the hit list for disloyalty to Trump.
