A trade war disrupts markets which have to adjust to the war which can cause higher prices for U.S. consumers. Manufacturing products domestically to replace those that were less costly to obtain overseas raises prices. If the U.S. continues to consume the same amount of goods and services, the higher costs increase the national debt, all else being the same.

Trump confuses trade deficit with national debt, mistakenly claiming, like he did in his Wall Street Journal interview, that reducing the trade deficit will reduce the national debt.

Even if reducing the trade deficit did reduce the national debt, a hypothetical 100 billion dollar drop in the trade deficit is a tiny fraction (about 0.4 percent) of the 23,000 billion dollar national debt.

The trade deficit hasn't decreased under Trump while the national debt has increased on the order of about $1 trillion per year.

It doesn't have a chance at reducing the national debt unless the products can be produced domestically at a lower cost than the imported goods that it replaced.

Trump and his daughter don't domestically produce their clothing and other products for their businesses with a few exceptions such as some bedding products because of the higher costs of domestic production.

Trump didn't expand his tariff war to the point where it included clothing products because it would have damaged his businesses. The U.S. manufacturers and farmers incurred the damage for him.

In an interview, Trump used the excuse that there aren't any domestic producers for clothing. He could start up his own manufacturing plants in the U.S. but doesn't because he knows the domestic costs generally will be higher than importing, which would damage his profits.

    Dick Cheney hunting accident
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dick Cheney hunting accident - Wikipedia

"On February 11, 2006, United States vice president Dick Cheney accidentally shot Harry Whittington, a then-78-year-old Texas attorney, with a shotgun while participating in a quail hunt on a ranch in Riviera, Texas.[1] Both Cheney and Whittington called the incident an accident.

The incident was reported to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times on February 12, 2006, by ranch owner Katherine Armstrong.[2] The Bush administration disclosed the shooting incident to the public the afternoon of February 12. Local authorities released a report on the shooting on February 16, 2006, and witness statements on February 22.

On February 14, 2006, Whittington suffered a non-fatal heart attack and atrial fibrillation due to at least one lead-shot pellet lodged in or near his heart.[3] He also had a collapsed lung. Cheney did not speak publicly about the incident until February 15 in an interview with Fox News. Early reports indicated that Cheney and Whittington were friends and that the injuries were minor. Whittington later clarified that he and Cheney were not close friends but acquaintances.[4]"

Officials in the Bush administration were intially jovial and tried to pass it off as a minor, comical incident between buddies. When Whittington's condition became known later, the Bush administration changed its tone.

Schiff: Bolton wouldn't sign affidavit on Trump, Ukraine after Senate rejected new impeachment witnesses

Schiff: Bolton wouldn't sign affidavit on Trump, Ukraine after Senate rejected new impeachment witnesses

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON – Rep. Adam Schiff, who served as the lead House impeachment manager in the trial of President Donald Trump, said former national security adviser John Bolton declined to sign an affidavit about what he knew after the Senate voted against calling more witnesses.

"After they voted to be the first impeachment trial in history without witnesses, we did approach John Bolton's counsel, asked if Mr. Bolton would be willing to submit an affidavit under oath describing what he observed in terms of the president's Ukraine misconduct, and he refused," Schiff told MSNBC Wednesday night on "The Rachel Maddow Show."

"For whatever reason, he apparently was willing to testify before the Senate, but apart from that, seems intent on saving it for his book," said Schiff, D-Calif. "He'll have to answer for that."

Attorney Charles Cooper, who represents Bolton, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on Schiff's claim."

The truth is starting to come out. Rachel Maddow and Huffington Post have both reported interference in the Iowa Caucus. Precinct Captains were unable to report their number over mandatory I-Phone App because of an organized attack. Investigators are now able to see 4CHAN Trump supporters were the ones who clogged the telephone lines to interfere in the election. In one case votes were redirected to an unqualified candidate. The police were called in immediately and they saw the dialog on the various websites used by the 4CHAN extremists. New Hampshire officials recognized what had happened and called officials in Iowa to warn them that only a few years back the Republican activists used similar trickery which resulted in prison sentences. So far, it has all the markings of the RNC behind the nefarious agenda. Voters need to remember this and pass the info onward.

A DC Court of appeals ruled for Trump in a suit brought forth by 200 members of Congress, over payments to Trump Organization businesses. The Court said members of Congress have no standing. In prior cases that reason was used in cases where the complaining party had no stake in the outcome. It seems the Trump appointed judges don't see where Congressional Representatives have such a stake when representing voters. Another reason given was that article III did not give them authority to rule on such a matter. So, again, Congress has to step back and find a new way to go after Trump unethical activity. A related article I read stated that Trump has been charging Secret Service agents $650 per night to stay at his hotels, and the tax payers get that bill too.

Aide who testified against President Trump escorted out of White House

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — The decorated soldier and White House aide who played a central role in the Democrats' impeachment case against President Donald Trump was escorted out of the White House on Friday, according to NBC News and CNN.

Trump wouldn't confirm that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was being forced out.

But the president said earlier in the day: “I'm not happy with him." Talking to reporters on Friday, the president asked reporters rhetorically, “You think I'm supposed to be happy with him? I'm not."

Vindman's attorney released a statement that said Vindman "was escorted out of the White House where he has dutifully served his country and his President."

"He does so having spoken publicly once, and only pursuant to a subpoena from the United States Congress," the statement from his attorney read."

An article from November 2016 was prophetic.

Is Trump a dictator In the making?
Natasha Lindstaedt, Senior Lecturer, University of Essex
    November 3, 2016

Is Trump a dictator in the making?

    excerpt:

"One of the most notable traits of powerful dictators is intense narcissism. They see themselves as messianic figures; it is only they who can save the country from a life of misery. To promote his “godly” qualities, Joseph Mobutu of Zaire had footage of his image descending through the clouds from the heavens screened prior to the television evening news.

Trump has also made much of his near-superhuman qualities in his speeches, including the one he gave at the Republican National Convention, in which he expounded on his belief that he alone could solve the US’s problems.

Many dictators also exhibit high levels of paranoia. Kim Jong-il of North Korea was so paranoid about flying, fearing he would be assassinated, that he refused to travel by plane, no matter how time-consuming the alternative. Trump is not only a famous germophobe, he has shown his paranoia by claiming that the media is completely against him, the election is rigged and voter fraud will be rampant on election day. Though he exhibits inflated thoughts about his own popularity and appeal, he feels constantly certain that there are forces operating against him.

Many dictators also as time goes on become further removed from reality. They decrease the size of their inner circle to their most trusted advisors. And their entourage consists not of technocrats or experienced advisors that could challenge them, but of sycophants, eager to tell the dictator what he wants to hear. Iraq’s Saddam Hussein encouraged a culture of false reporting; anyone who offered him accurate information that he disagreed with was killed or purged.

Similarly, Trump is either ignoring his advisers or only listening to those who tell him what he wants to hear. In the latter stage of his campaign, he surrounded himself with like-minded ex-Fox News chief, Roger Ailes, and adoring surrogates such as Rudy Giuliani. There are reports that Trump has become increasingly isolated from those that might offer advice that counters his strategy."

Notice the choreograph of Trump's entrance into the room for his speech on January 8, 2020 about his assassination of Iranian officials. It looks like he's coming from the eternal light to meld with all his tough military people. It's similar to Mobutu of Zaire descending through the clouds from heaven.

The expressions on the face of the man behind Trump's left shoulder look similar to those of the Plaid Shirt Guy who was making strange faces behind Trump at his rally in Minnesota.

Trump was mispronouncing words in the speech about Iran.
