god I hope not. She only lived there because of her acting job. A lot of things are filmed in Toronto because the Federal government in Canada provides tax credit to foreign producers. It is called the Film Production Services Tax Credit, which now equals 16 percent of the labor costs. they just have to show the city in Canada in which they film, and also have one canadian actor, I believe.

Further there is a thing called telefilm canada fund that can be applied for. Basically if you do a film with a diverse group of ethnicities or produce a French film you get funding. I believe they currently are funding only French language content. Tax payers pay for this. Telefilm Canada is a crown corporation, which means it is run by the federal government and funded by tax dollars. There there is the CRTC which the government watch dog for media content, but if you call to complain about something, they do nothing,

then there is the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, which again is government run and claims to be autonomously (at arms length) from the government, Which is not the case at all. General management of the organization is in the hands of a president, who is appointed by the Governor General of Canada in council, on the advice of the prime minister of Canada. The Governor General is basically the top dog, who is not elected, but appointed by the prime minister. He can dismiss a prime minister as well as any minister as well as dissolve parliament and call for an election.

I never understood the hate for Meghan. That being said, I've also never understood America's fascination with the British royal family either. I mean, I guess if you're first generation British American. But it seems like most Americans are obsessed with the British royals... and the British royals only. My friend pointed the irony out to me when I was watching Emperor Naruhito's coronation ceremony

 

But I really don’t want to see them bring their political bs into Canada.

I like Elizabeth, the queen and I like the queen mum, who is unfortunately dead. Obsessed, no. I honestly don’t want Meghan and Harry I Canada because they are bound, well Meghan is bound to bring political views to the media.

I have always felt this marriage was somewhat arranged. Marry a foreigner, someone who is in the public eye. Someone from the US or Canada. Bring In ties to another country we can Align ourselves with, especially after brexit.

I think they will move to the USA, win over the American people, will become outspoken political advocates for whatever. Well I think Meghan will. In England the royal family are not allowed to speak public ally about political opinions.

 

So they will step down, I suspect. And I don’t hate or like Meghan Markle.

 

I think they are perfectly entitled to step down. We have all been in jobs we hated at one time or another and worked out a way to quit. And it felt good.

But I don’t remember quitting a job and saying I wanted to continue to get the salary, the company car, the expense account and the pension.

the honourable thing to do would be to walk away from this “job” like anyone else does ie without the benefits.

if they don’t then it’s valid to accuse them of wanting their cake and eat it!

I agree, as duke of Sussex he makes a lot of money each year. He should step down as Duke of Sussex. He earns a type of allowance for his work which comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, currently run by his father.. His brother made 28.5 million in one year paid to by the duchy of Cornwall. No site seems to be releasing money paid to Harry.

 

Or get their own reality tv show. Lol

I do hope they step dow; right away, if they don’t it is so they can accumulate a lot of money for a few years, stash it away and live off it for the rest of their lives. Maybe set up a non profit org where they both collect a hefty salary. One which the Royal family donates to.

 

I'm sure they've already got enough to be set for life. They don't need the royal family. I can't blame them, as there truly is no such thing as a royal person.

Then they will be defacto royals for the US, the only actual Royal couple in the US, will just increase the branding, all the clothing deals etc

There are no de facto royals in the US. We have no use for royalty.
