And you can do that in lots of places including here if it has relevance to the comments you add to it but the thing is that the politics forum is about debating politics not just to have meme battles.

 

This thread should have been in the bullshit forum anyway. Nobody complains about lack of proper discussion then and the whole thread can consist of memes.

Not that I think a post that only consists of a meme shouldn't be made in a convo about politics or a societal topic on here, although yes, details matter. If that's the only thing a member does then he's not really partaking in the convo anyway.

I take it as I do graffiti. Some is worth reading, some isn't. But it's still a communication medium, however slim. And it may not be agreeable, same as graffiti. But sometimes, it's a genuine Banksy.

I don't personally agree with banning memes or creating other arbitrary rules for particular threads. But we've seen this pop up in one form or another for years around here. Isn't there a thread here somewhere that requires only memes and deletes posts with dialog? So much variety.

Yups, it all stands or falls with motive/intention. People who only or mainly wanna joke or provoke can do so. If they pose as sharing serious arguments or their sincere thoughts in a statement, vid or meme and act as serious convo partners however, I would think they like to expand on them, explain them, share them more in depth etc. Not every goddamn time perhaps, but at least regularly.

Me neither. I prefer calling such people out on their practices. Some act like they share something worthy but if its a statement or meme that raises questions/others want to expand on, but the poster of such a statement consequently avoids expanding on anything, that is a factor that influences how worthy their posts are regarded. I acknowledge the right of only making memes, jokes and accusing or condemning statements, but i also reserve the right to question them and if an answer is avoided these people should not be suprised their supposedly meaningful contributions are not valued

 

I remember when AOL finally added this feature to chat rooms. I think ignore is one of the best ideas since the Compuserve/BBS/FidoNet era created the basic forms of chat rooms, forums and email. Back then though, it was just a collection of fellow nerds from all over the country, so shit didn't get out of hand very often.

These days personal digital communication has become a minefield of deception, fraud, scams, whores, pimps and republicans. It's like being in an electronic bus station sometimes. Most often it's uneventful, but every so often you get the show. Once in a while you're dragged into the show.

 

I don’t use the ignore feature to block any members on here. But there are a few people whose posts I usually just skim through and won’t fully read, because they’re known to ramble with drivel, nonsense, and sometimes downright stupidity. Every once in a while I’ll read what they have to say, and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Where's the bigotry in this? It's clearly tongue in cheek, but even if it was blatant it's not bigoted. This isn't another "not ALL of them" issue. I have traveled all over the middle east and there are a LOT of places where not only are women treated like cattle, slavery is also firmly in place. Consider that the line between stereotype and pattern of behavior can be rather thin.

Odd. I didn't see any joke. I thought it was a serious question, since that's how it appears in the public arena. I didn't see anything bigoted about it, either. Perhaps Balbus knows some conservative/right-wing or republican muslim women in the public eye? I haven't seen any. They're ALL left-leaning, because the left has closer identity to them and their ideals, just as the democrats have almost total identity to the KKK, nazis and other socialists.

Before anyone tries to identify current so-called "republicans" as Republican, you should read the US Constitution and the first ten amendments to it. There is a description of the republican form of government our government is commanded to guarantee to every state in this union. Anything that deviates from this description is not republican at all, but a watered-down bastardization of it.

Your use of the word "Mate" makes me think you're from Britain or Australia. Either way, you not too familiar with history. It's a well known fact that the KKK was created by democrats here in the USA, just as it's also well-known that the muslims sided and partnered with Hitler and his nazis during those wars.

The republican party was started to combat slavery here in the USA. The muslims still practice and encourage as a requirement of their faith, just as brutality and hatred of dogs is part of their religion. Their so-called "prophet" hated dogs just as he hated jews and women, hence his abusive treatment of them all.

Over here in the USA, democrats are consistently the ones committing and promoting violence against women, jews, christians, and republican/conservatives, and their own news media proves it. You may also find that, here in the USA, the terms "left" and "right", "democrat" and "republican", as well as "conservative" and "liberal" don't have the same meanings that they do where you're from. Also, all of the mass-shootings and terrorist acts you read about here: committed by registered democrats or muslims. I still haven't seen any jews or christians committing these acts. This ain't the UK, where guns are banned. If they didn't have guns here, they'd be using edged weapons and acid like they do in your parts of the world, and with the same effects.

I hope you're nut unduly offended by these historical truths. I'm not; just disappointed.

You need to stop comparing a political party to the KKK.
The KKK are a violent group that are full of nutters who just want to kill everyone.
