well, that's not exactly true. White collar crime has significantly more Caucasian perpetrators. Corporate crime e.g. Monsanto is responsible for more deaths than violent crime. It's probably more common too. So really who is killing?

I'm not trying to minimize homicide or violent crime. They are problems. I think that education is a big factor for a lot of criminals. Once people get an education or find employment they are like 150% less likely to commit a crime. I'm just guessing at the numbers here...

Athletic Ability.

“Black people are better at basketball.” “Dominicans naturally excel at baseball.” “Asians are excellent dancers.” “White men can’t jump!” Blanket statements such as these permeate popular discourse and are sometimes marshaled as evidence of biological differences between races. Over the decades, some have claimed that African Americans are innately superior athletes. Evidence for this claim, some say, is found in the fact that African Americans seem to dominate the NBA and many Olympic games, including track and field. Sportscasters have referred to black athletes as “thoroughbreds” and “superathletes,” and professional athletes themselves, black and white, have offered generalizations about athletic superiority supposedly based in racial genes.49 Statements such as these are not supported by any scientific evidence. Claims of inherent racial ability—including myths about “fast-twitch” and “slow-twitch” muscles—are disconfirmed by modern biology.50 In the 1920s and 1930s, basketball was thought of as a “Jews’ game.” The top players in college and professional leagues were Jewish, and Jewish players were thought to have the biological edge, “being endowed by nature with superior balance, greater speed, and sharper eyes—not to mention, in the words of one sportswriter, a ‘scheming mind’ and ‘flashy trickiness.’”51 (These last two descriptive phrases come from the stereotype of Jews as “crafty.”) Soon, however, Jews disappeared from the game, and many black players rose to prominence. What happened? Did nature suddenly change its mind, deciding to strip Jews of their so-called innate skills and bestow such biological gifts on blacks? Certainly not. A better explanation is a sociological one. The changing racial composition of basketball corresponded to the changing racial composition of inner cities. Traditionally, basketball has been a game for the inner-city poor: courts can be found in most urban playgrounds, and all one needs is a ball and a pair of
sneakers. Jews dominated basketball in the early twentieth century because ghettos in northern cities were teeming with Jewish immigrants. By midcentury, the nature of the inner city was undergoing a sea change, as many blacks were migrating northward from the rural South. Basketball offered these newly migrated black youth the same thing it had offered Jewish youth decades before: an accessible and inexpensive recreational activity.52 Turning our attention to the present day, sociologists have shown that many talented white high school athletes, many of whom come from highincome backgrounds, come to see sports as a waste of time, as “pissing in the wind,” whereas numerous talented black high school athletes, many of whom come from low-income backgrounds, see sports as their one and only shot at upward mobility and social status. Accordingly, many young white athletes, no matter how talented, intentionally drop out of the “sports game” early, since they have been socialized into the conviction that pursuing an athletic career is not a wise choice to make. A sports career may seem like “small potatoes” to white youth, whereas the one-in-a-million shot at a career in the pros might seem like the “only potatoes” to black youth whose opportunities are severely limited.53 Thus, the racial composition of professional sports rosters is more a reflection of decisions young people make— decisions guided by structures and histories of racial inequality—than it is of biological superiority. Of course, there are a handful of “exceptions to the rule,” black players, such as Grant Hill or Ken Griffey, Jr., who came from prosperous backgrounds. But we should bear in mind that exceptions do not prove the rule—especially if that rule is biological.
Are blacks naturally superior athletes? The question has been answered by biology—the only evidence that counts for this kind of question—and the answer is no. The racial composition of several professional sports teams can be explained only through historical and sociological analysis. Now, let’s ask another question: Why do we care so much? Why do we continue to come back to this age-old question? Why do we desire so much to know if blacks are innately superior athletes? Do we care so much because blacks are perhaps “obviously” better at, say, track and field than everyone else? This cannot be the case. At the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, gold medals in track and field events were awarded to athletes from Portugal, Panama, Russia, Jamaica, Great Britain, Romania, Italy, Kenya, Ethiopia, the
United States, and Bahrain. Maybe we care so much because blacks are “obviously” better at jumping? This doesn’t seem to wash out either, for it would be easy to argue the opposite, that whites are actually better at jumping. For “proof,” consider volleyball. The skills involved in basketball and those of volleyball are nearly identical: talented players must exhibit highly attuned hand-eye coordination, superior jumping ability, and quick reflexes. Yet volleyball leagues continue to be dominated by white athletes. And those who claim that “white people can’t jump” must have overlooked Andrey Silnov, the Russian Olympian who won the gold medal in men’s high jump at the 2008 Summer Games, and Tia Hellebaut, the Belgian who won the gold medal in women’s high jump. Thus, white people are naturally superior at jumping. “Our evidence does not prove this,” you might say. “You cannot make sweeping generalizations about all white people based on the spectacular performance of a few.” We agree! But why, then, is it socially acceptable to make such sweeping generalizations about black people based on the spectacular performance of a few? Why, upon observing the play of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Brittney Griner, or Maya Moore—or even the entire NBA and WNBA rosters—do we feel justified in making far-reaching statements about all African Americans? After all, we don’t subject white people to the same false logic. After watching Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, or Jaromir Jagr perform their magic on the ice rink, do we conclude that all white people are good at hockey? Rugby and football require the same types of players: tough, fast, hard hitting, and team oriented. If this is the case, then why have people pointed to black NFL players and declared that blacks are better athletes when they could just as easily have pointed to the scores of white rugby players and made the same proclamation for white people?
Questions such as these urge us to reevaluate how we form conclusions about African Americans, and other people of color, based on one-sided and casually collected observations, while we tend not to form such conclusions about white people. If we question the question about natural differences in athletic prowess, we soon discover that it only serves to perpetuate stereotypes about nonwhites and whites alike and makes into something real “natural differences” that simply do not exist. More important, perhaps, when it comes to sports, notions of racial superiority and inferiority are not innocent ideas. The idea that blacks are better athletes rarely exists in isolation. It is often connected to another idea. Inherent athletic superiority is usually thought to be negatively correlated with inherent intellectual superiority. When two things are negatively correlated, this means that as the one thing increases, the other decreases. Here is the real danger in making claims about racebased athletic ability: those claims insinuate that groups that are good at sports are bad at thinking. This brings us to the next assumption about biological differences between races: inequalities in IQ levels.

Intellectual Ability.

Another stereotype that rests on assumptions of biological differences is that certain races of people are naturally more intelligent than others. “Asians are better at math.” “Whites excel in the humanities.” Statements such as these can be heard on many college campuses around the country.
IQ testing is a mechanism through which racial hierarchies are reinforced. IQ stands for intelligence quotient. First developed in 1905 by French psychologist Alfred Binet, who developed the device in order to locate children with special needs, IQ is a measure of general intelligence computed by multiplying the ratio of one’s “mental age” and one’s chronological age by a number representing average intelligence, in this case, 100. Binet fervently rejected the interpretation that IQ was dictated by heredity. That interpretation came to prominence in America at the conclusion of World War I. The idea resurfaced in 1969 when educational psychologist Arthur Jensen published an article, now generally viewed as infamously misleading, that emphasized innate differences in IQ levels between whites and blacks. And, most recently, in 1994, Americans witnessed yet another resurgence of ideas of inherent intellectual inequalities with the publication of Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray’s The Bell Curve, a book 845 pages from bow to stern that claimed, among other things, that whites have higher IQs than blacks; that, for the most part, these differences are genetic; and that these intractable differences can explain all kinds of social ills and inequalities.54 Immediately after publication, The Bell Curve became a target of criticism from intellectuals belonging to several disciplines. Biologists rallied against the idea that IQ could be measured as a single number extracted from a person’s head and placed in a linear ranking. They also criticized the notion that IQ was genetically based and therefore immutable. IQ is much better understood as a panoply of capabilities used creatively to adapt to complex problems; it cannot be reduced to a unitary, unwavering, and quantifiable thing. Statisticians, for their part, discovered that Herrnstein and Murray displayed their findings in a manner that obscured their analyses and hid results that contradicted their central claims regarding racial differences in intelligence levels. For example, a statistic demonstrating the strength of many of their findings was excluded from the text because most of the findings on which their arguments actually rested were embarrassingly weak. Finally, social scientists pointed to countless studies that demonstrate that IQ differences cease to matter once social and historical factors are taken into consideration. These studies show that assumed natural differences do not exist at the aggregate group level and that they do nothing to explain inequality in America. What does explain such inequality are social conditions,
historical contexts, and state policies. Today, the overall scientific consensus is that The Bell Curve is a deeply flawed work (at best) or racist propaganda masquerading as science (at worst).55 Arguments that suppose that social and economic differences between races are the result of immutable, inherited, and inborn distinctions are grouped under the rubric “biological determinism.” As the preceding two sections have shown, biological deterministic arguments that attempt to separate races according to innate, genetic properties do not hold water. Biological determinism is nothing new. On the contrary, and as we will see in Chapter 2, this train of thought has been around since the invention of race. But despite being an outdated mode of thinking and despite being proven wrong, biological determinism refuses to go away. Why is this? American biologist and historian of science Stephen Jay Gould provides an insightful answer. Writing specifically about IQ, Gould argues that “resurgences of
biological determinism correlate with episodes of political retrenchment, particularly with campaigns for reduced government spending on social programs, or at times of fear among ruling elites, when disadvantaged groups sow serious social unrest or even threaten to usurp power. What argument against social change could be more chillingly effective than the claim that established orders, with some groups on top and others at the bottom, exist as an accurate reflection of the innate and unchangeable intellectual capacities of people so ranked?”56 When American psychologists first used the IQ test to rank the intellectual capacities of races, America had just emerged from World War I and was involved in an energetic campaign to develop a foreign policy based on principles of isolationism, patriotism, and “national purity.” When Arthur Jensen revisited biological deterministic arguments in 1969, America’s racial tensions and political unrest were boiling over: Martin Luther King, Jr., had been assassinated a year earlier, the Black Power Movement was gaining steam, and thousands of people were protesting the Vietnam War. And with what social change did the publication of The Bell Curve coincide? In the mid-1990s American social policies underwent a drastic transformation. Social services were slashed and welfare spending was rolled back and reorganized, ushering in “the age of austerity,” and more and more, the poor were viewed not as troubled citizens in need of help, but as perverse problems in need of discipline.57 Thus, in times when the social status quo has been met with a severe challenge—either by subordinated groups who lash out at the snares of their subordination or by dominant groups who look to ratchet up their own power by further exploiting the powerless—biological determinism often is to be found, reassuring people that social inequalities are really natural inequalities. But biological determinism is bad science. More importantly, biological determinism has been used to justify injustices and to naturalize inequalities. Gould knew well the pitfalls of such thinking: “Few tragedies can be more extensive than the stunting of life, few injustices deeper than the denial of an opportunity to strive or even to hope, by a limit imposed from without, but falsely identified as lying within.”58

No, you're talking in a realm where white people must never show any sort of racial pride an d must instead keep quiet and live in perpetual shame for being born this way. But of course hating white people is the "good" kind of hate, so learn to expect this sort of reception from hard core leftists. What's most amusing is that the majority of the ones leveling this idiotic concept are themselves white. Most of the non-white members don't seem to be interested in this line of discussion.

I admit, it's certainly not why I came to hip forums (back when it was Hippy.com). And for most of the time I have been here even the most heated discussions were rarely racial. It seems to have bloomed in the last few years.

Anyway, if you don't plan to bow in shame daily for having that hideous skin color, expect shit.

I think that you make a valid point about there being more crime, but I don't think we can accurately equate that crime with people of a given race or biological background. I believe that it is socioeconomic conditions that lend themselves to those predispositions to which you are presumably referring.

I disagree. The statistics are the same in any country that the minorities in this country tend to live and that includes the ones where they are the majority.
