As Above, So Below - 9/10

Been out for a while and this was our third or fourth time of watching. Genuinely creepy "shock" movie for the month of Halloween and unlike some movies of the genre, the found footage technique works quite well in the claustrophobic catacombs under Paris. Much is left to the viewer's own imagination to work out what's going on and the ending open to much discussion and interpretation.

    The Mudge Boy

I knew a particular bad thing was going to happen right from the beginning, and it did, but there was a twist in it. A couple of times I was glad it wasn't something I'd randomly decided to watch for the first time with my parents.

George Jung really wasn't a bad guy. He just happaened to pick a profession that is frowned upon by our legal system.
At the end all he wanted was to be with his daughter
The last scene in the jail yard where he has the hallucinations of her
And she disappears to the guard telling him it's time to go inside
Is one of the most heartbreaking things I've watched in a while

This one was full of stars; Harrelson was in it. Casey Affleck, Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana. I felt like this movie was an exploitation of their talent. It completely and entirely misuses the actors. I didn't think it was good.

I just found it frustrating that he didn't quit while he was ahead.

Watching bond and the second action sequence was almost as impressive as the first! They put so much into making these movies special! :)

Yeah I loved the book ! Hard for a filmmaker to put the same images in your head than the ones you get from reading ! sometimes a single character can spoil the illusion !! To be honest though the film was ok

this is on. I don't remember what happens, but I've seen it. I just felt like it was a good movie to borrow from the library and watch again.

  20. I just watched Dolemite Is My Name with Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes. It was pretty great, except I think there should have been more resolution at the end, maybe a snippet into "Dolemite's" life after all the films and everything. Though maybe they had to cut it short, 'cause it turns out he didn't too hot. I don't know. Even if he didn't, though, I would have liked to see that. Other than that, I found it really funny.

I find black people really funny and soulful. It's fun to be around black people, because they're just so human in a way that white people don't seem to be. I know I'm generalizing, but they seem to be more aware that they actually don't know shit when it comes right down to it, and all they're left with is their human devices. Maybe I'm being racist. I don't care. I like that there is this discrepancy, though, between what white people think they understand and black people's perception of the world. If I thought on it, I could probably clarify why, but I don't feel like explaining that.

It's good to see Wesley Snipes again. He's actually a really good actor, and was put away on some bullshit charges that don't even fucking matter. I thought he was hilarious in the movie, and I'm glad he's out of stupid ass prison.
