And how much $ is being diverted from making weapons or training people how to kill people - isnt that what military academys are for
Your bravado sounds self-confident but seems to be a smokescreen of double talk. What are you trying to say? Am I "just making up words"? No. "Hard times" "on this course" "real economic downturn" are in the dictionary. Look them up. Trump has been badgering the Fed to lower interest rates when they're already low by historic standards. He is doing this to stimulate an economy so that it will be sizzling by election day, and after that the deluge. You call my remarks vague and non-specific, but then you go on about China's unsound economic policies without getting to the bottom line. What are you getting at? That China's economic situation is shakier than ours and if we can just wait them out they'll cry uncle? Maybe so. Or maybe not. If you've studied the history of China much, you'll realize that the Chinese people are used to a lot of deprivation and their political system is despotic enough to keep them in line for quite awhile. That's not true of Americans, and this is an election year. You say that all Trump has to do is keep a shitty 2% growth. I really doubt that if our economy begins to slump, most Americans will be looking at China's and saying at least we're not that bad. Good for Trump! Poll after poll shows majority disapproval of his presidency even at the higher growth rates. Economic performance is the main thing he has going for him, and he does want to win the election so badly. Hard to do with a shitty 2% growth rate when people are expecting more. But we'll see who blinks first. Who are those high level economic gurus you're relying on. Ones you subscribe to in some newsletter? Are you figuring that since they charge a lot for their advice they must know what they're talking about? Economics isn't exactly rocket science, and this isn't just about economics. It's also about politics and pain thresholds. Farmers are a critical part of Trump's base, and our crazy electoral system is heavily stacked in their favor. And it's not just farmers any more. It's manufacturers of consumer goods and retail merchants. Most economists don't think trade wars are a good idea, and relying on your judgement on which ones to trust is precarious.
No, you just said that. Nobody else said "all black people" are anything. Just that O.J. is black, which is common knowledge.
So let me get this straight, I say phrases like 'hard times' arent specific enough, you say I should go look them up in the dictionary. Which of those two words do you think I might never have encountered before? Hard or time? Even if I do go need to go look them up in the dictionary, the phrase 'hard times' still remains not specific enough. This all of course instead of simply elaborating to show everyone you know what you are talking about
Trump Is Pulling Money From Hurricane Recovery and Childcare Centers to Build His Wall The Pentagon plans to divert $3.6 billion from military projects in the latest effort to circumvent Congress by Tim Marcin Sep 5 2019, 9:25am Trump Is Pulling Money From Hurricane Recovery and Childcare Centers to Build His Wall excerpt: "Elementary schools that educate the children of service members stationed in Japan and Germany A grant for a military school in Fort Campbell, Kentucky A child development center at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland that provides on-base childcare Some $400 million in planned projects for Puerto Rico, the majority of which were related to Hurricane Maria. The projects include a school for military kids and improvements to a training facility for the Puerto Rico National Guard. Work on defense access roads in Texas A maintenance shop that works on Navy ships Equipment storage buildings, rifle ranges, and aircraft simulators A cyberoperations center Plans to replace warehouses that store hazardous materials in naval shipyards in Virginia An engineering center and a parking structure at West Point A treatment facility for working dogs at Guantanamo Bay With Hurricane Dorian pounding the Southeast, it’s also worth noting that Trump has pulled $155 million from FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund and allocated it to ICE, and pulled $116 million from the Coast Guard for the southern border."
Trump needs to change his remark from "I will make Mexico pay for my wall." to "I will make Puerto Rico, Guam, New York, New Mexico, Alaska, Virginia, Washington, North Carolina, Maryland, Kentucky, Utah, Louisiana, Texas, Hawaii, and Arizona pay for my wall."
About 1 million Puerto Ricans live in the swing state Florida which Trump won in 2016 by about 1%. Trump isn't winning over their votes for 2020 with all the negative remarks he has made about them.
The government shutdown that Trump started for his wall lasted more than a month and was the longest in history. Even that didn't coerce either party in Congress into give him the funds he wanted. Both realized the money could be better spent elsewhere. Trump is known for burning his bridges when he becomes obsessed with something he wants for himself. He burned his bridges with the U.S. banks by filing countersuits against them when he owed them money. He later had to rely on foreign banks like Deutsche after the U.S. banks dumped him.
A military base is losing its funding for a new middle school so money can be shifted to Trump's border wall Michelle Mark Sep. 6, 2019, 9:11 PM A military base is losing its funding for a new middle school so money can be shifted to Trump's border wall "An Army base in Kentucky will no longer receive the new middle school it was expecting after its funding was diverted to President Donald Trump's border wall, The New York Times reported Thursday. The middle school, which would have served some 552 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, is one of 127 military construction projects that Pentagon officials said this week would be delayed or halted so that $3.6 billion in funding could go towards Trump's long-promised wall. Ultimately, $62.6 million will be diverted from the Fort Campbell middle school construction. The Times reported that this means the children will continue to use an aging, existing building where teachers use mobile carts to store books and homework due to the lack of classroom space."
Trump actually thinks that diverting money to his wall from counter-narcotics programs will decrease the drug problem in the U.S. better than the those programs. Most narcotics are smuggled into the U.S. through legal points of entry, a mode that a border wall isn't going to reduce He has politicized Congressional funding and has circumvented Congress to fulfill a campaign promise for 2020 so that his enthusiasts can proudly chant 'build that wall' at his rallies. Trump said himself publicly that the national emergency for the wall was not needed, which essentially means his emergency is fake. He stated that he did it to get his wall money faster (i.e., in time for the 2020 election). He lacks ability to build poltical coalitions and instead relies on autocratic maneuvers.
Pentagon authorizes $1B in counter-drug money for Trump's border wall By Ellen Mitchell 03/25/19 11:58 PM EDT excerpt: Pentagon authorizes $1B in counter-drug money for Trump's border wall excerpt: "Neller added that because of the administration’s “unplanned/unbudgeted” border deployment last fall and emergency declaration funding efforts, he has had to cancel or reduce planned military training in at least five countries as well as delay badly needed base repairs. CNN reported that following the letter’s release, all Democratic senators on the Senate Appropriations Committee's subpanels on defense and on military construction and veterans affairs signed a letter to Shanahan objecting to the move. “We strongly object to both the substance of the funding transfer, and to the Department implementing the transfer without seeking the approval of the congressional defense committees and in violation of provisions in the defense appropriation itself,” the senators write. “As a result, we have serious concerns that the Department has allowed political interference and pet projects to come ahead of many near-term, critical readiness issues facing our military.”"
Trump's autocratic approach of violating rules for repurposing funding could end a privilege that was given to the Pentagon.. Pentagon Takes $1 Billion From Military Personnel Account To Build Border Fence Bill Chappell March 26, 20198:44 AM ET Pentagon Takes $1 Billion From Military Personnel Account To Build Border Fence excerpt: "But in response, committee Chairman Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., said the move would likely compel Congress to strip the Pentagon of the authority to "reprogram" funds that have been appropriated for specific purposes and programs. That authority is currently provided only in cases where the Pentagon consults with Congress before acting. But in this case, Smith noted, the Defense Department did not ask permission. "Given a legal order from the commander in chief, we are executing on that order," Shanahan replied. He added that the Pentagon was aware that there were "downsides, which will hamper us" — including likely losing what he called the privilege of reprogramming funds. Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, said that while the committee's members might disagree on border and immigration policies, "We have bipartisan support for the fact that our military budget should not be cannibalized for our border security needs.""
The Pentagon is putting $1 billion toward the wall — and House Democrats can’t stop them The Department of Defense has always asked Congress for permission to move money around. Until now. By Dara Linddara Mar 26, 2019, 3:00pm EDT The Pentagon is putting $1 billion toward the wall — and House Democrats can’t stop them excerpt: "In context, the $1 billion transferred this week doesn’t look that big. But the fact that the Pentagon is willing to break with standard practice — and pick a funding fight with Congress for next year — to put that money toward the border is an indication of just how much the executive branch is backing the president up on his top priority — and how much energy congressional Democrats will have to spend fighting it."
“The further I walked into this place, the weirder things got. Kids in goofy costumes, swinging fake swords around at each other and reading all these backwards gibberish books. Some little punk even called me a wee-ah-boo. What the hell’s a wee-ah-boo?” an increasingly frustrated Washburn vented, according to close sources. “I came here to shout at immigrants and maybe get a picture with Joe Arpaio, now I’m just pissed off and lost in this crowd of smelly kids, and I can’t even tell who’s a boy or a girl around here!” Washburn said as he sat down in the food court, wiping sweat from his brow. “How are we supposed to make America great again if all our damn kids are pretending they’re Japanese?”
Trump is supposedly always ten steps ahead of everyone. Trump called for a bill to be signed that the Senate had already signed two weeks earlier. "President @realDonaldTrump, you’re clearly confused," he wrote. "The Senate passed the bill two weeks ago. Hopefully after blocking it for so long, you’re not too confused to sign it!""
My,my. Up to your old tricks again: suggesting that your inability or unwillingness to comprehend inconvenient truths is somebody else's fault. You learn fast from your MAGA mentor. Most people have a general idea of what "Hard times" "on this course" and "real economic downturn" mean, and the terms are sufficiently precise for the occasion. "Hard times": a time of difficulty", or "difficult situations in life", especially economic or financial hardship. What does hard times mean? definition, meaning and audio pronunciation (Free English Language Dictionary) What does hard times mean? fall on hard times What does hard times mean? | meaning of hard times | hard times definition | idioMeanings As opposed to what Trumpsters say we're enjoying right now: good times: A period of prosperity or happiness Of course, when talking about fed policy, it's understood that we're talking about economic or financial conditions. Ordinarily. an recession is defined operationally as "a significant decline in general economic activity in a designated region", indicated by two consecutive quarters of decline in real GDP. An economic downturn is a decline in real GDP for a shorter period, but at least over one month. Those conditions don't happen to prevail at present, although some economists are nervous about the decline in the economies of our major trading partners, the inverted yield curve, and the fact that the recovery and the bull market have had a long run. None of this changes the basic point: that Quantitative easing is an important tool for the Fed to use against economic downturns or recessions, and that using it during good times (see definition supra) is risky business, since it won't be avilable for hard times (See definition supra).
