Also fraudulent background checks, etc. Okay, seems a lack of funding, understaffing, and laws purposely written to make enforcement hard to do. This is old...2003, but it makes the point Feds Shoot Blanks On Gun Laws So, I have no problem with fixing all that. But it doesn't mean we don't need additional laws or a refinement of existing laws.
Oh cool, this is super helpful in explaining what Panic is specifically basing his opinion on and explaining his specific thoughts on the subject
Actually, it does kind of mean that. Until we can be trusted to enforce the laws on the books, what use is adding more?
Well, new laws could clarify and fix the old ones, stop up loop holes, provide funds to enforce the old laws, provide penalties for not enforcing old laws, and cover areas the old laws missed. And I'm sure I missed a few.
Actually we have so many laws that no one can possibly know and understand them all. It's ludicrous. I propose a procedure where every law we have is reconsidered every four years. An upvote would keep it on the books otherwise it times out and goes away. Maybe then half the population would stand a chance at knowing what the laws are.
Right, an audit of what's already been made law is what we need before trying to enact new ones simply to mitigate the potential for contradictions.
Walmart stopped selling handguns and asked shoppers not to carry guns in the store. Sounds reasonable. So what happened? The entirely reasonable gun owners led by David Amad are descending on Walmart with their guns. His group boasts 38,000 members and they are intentionally ignoring the request.
For the last several decades they've been saying "from my cold dead figures" and meaning they will never give up the guns even if it is the law of the land. That attitude says they hold themselves above the law. I say we repeal the second amendment with a constitutional convention and send in the troops to go and collect the guns. The white nationalists should not be allowed to own guns. By their own definition they are anti-American.
You figured that out rather quickly, in less than a year here! Thanks for restoring my faith. Welcome to Hip Forums, you're going to get along just fine around here. Be aware, the monkeys fling doo.
That's not true. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. Are you getting your information from Jim Croce?
The idea behind Americans owning guns is not rooted in being afraid and paranoid. It is because it is their duty as an American to maintain the means to overthrow a tyrannical government. The founding fathers made it very very clear. Besides that, being able to defend yourself and your family should never ever EVER be looked at negatively. Defending yourself is part of the language of nature. I can't imagine being with a man who did not practice that to the best he possibly could!
Hi. I'm a rural gun owner from Kentucky; just want you to know I'm not anti-gun. I do have to point out, however, that assuming what you say the founders wanted is true, it is an obsolete idea today. There is simply no way to overthrow our government (through violent means) today. The average gun owner would need to have MLRS, radar, surface to air missiles, a navy and air force, tanks and perhaps nuclear weapons...not to mention an endless supply of money to keep themselves equipped for the long haul.
OH, I'm going to tell Bernie Sanders about you and your racist leader … Trump The Orange Buffoon. And you need to tell more about the Middle Eastern culture, since you married into it?
