Gun ownership itself is a slight mental illness

    Morning guys. :)
Just thought I'd take my mental illness and rifle out for a hunt this fine morning.

When debating any subject the point is reached when one may realize that further discussion is limited by one or more of the participant's beliefs. At that point any further discussion is pointless.

As in discussing religion one may point out logical inconsistencies, factual or scientific evidence, or moral dilemmas and in many cases the mindset of those who subscribe to their own brand of religion will never be altered and many times not even doubted.
A discussion about guns and gun regulation is very similar.

No matter what I post in regards to guns or gun regulation you will hold onto your beliefs.
You will never allow yourself to doubt any of your beliefs or convictions.
In a debate opposing arguments are presented and discussed. You haven't presented any arguments at all, you simply claim mine have no merit without explaining why.
You will point out that anything I present allows no rebuttal, an easy way out.
You have offered nothing to the discussion, and will continue to offer nothing.
Why would I continue such a debate?

  3. Well, lawyers wrote it, so I'm more inclined to see the wisdom in their words as opposed to some modernized perspective from the NRA. The constitution is not a bible, so interpretation is not whatever anyone wants it to be (unlike a bible).

But if this is too much for you to discuss, don't discuss it. I'm certainly not forcing you.

There was nothing out and about this morning. So my mentally fucked up head dropped the magazine, took out the bullets, slid out the bolt, padlocked them away in my rifle bag, zipped the bag up and locked it then walked to my truck, secured my locked rifle bag under the seat, took it home and housed it in my safe.

Didn't OP especially mention he didn't mean hunting rifles used for actual hunting?

Your home is so beautiful! I feel like I'd be a better version of myself if I lived somewhere that breathtakingly beautiful.

You think lawyers are more likely to be wise than the Bible? Actually, in American Government classes, the Founding Fathers are praised for their grand ambiguities--leaving it to future generations to adapt the Constitution to the needs of changing times. The Second Amendment opens with the words "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..." In U.S. v.Miller (1939), the Supreme Court took that opening language seriously, and ruled that the Second Amendment did not protect weapon types not having a "reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia." That was the way it stood until 2008, when the narrow 5-4 majority decided to brush those words aside and hold that the Amendment gave individuals the right to bear arms apart from the militia--but added the qualifiers that the right doesn't preclude reasonable regulation like forbidding "the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill" or restrictions on "the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons." Prior to that decision, those lawyers on the Supreme Court held that the Second Amendment was a collective right and did not give individuals the right to bear arms at all, and the four dissenting Justices continued to uphold that position. That's lawyers for you!

    Appalachia?

    ....

I mean it's a pretty low blow act to try and get people to not communicate with other members. If people want to respond to my posts, let them. If not, then they won't. But to sit there and try and form a side against me etc. And he says he doesn't personally attack people. LOL. Rocks in his head at times.

Such a beautiful natural setting, spoiled by the intrusion of your rifle. Is that symptomatic?

I'm sure the Appalachians have pretty spots but I don't think they compare to those foothills where you are.
