if that exists here, i've never heard of it.

we do get needles on the ground here, but they're almost always under a bush, or behind a building, or in some similar place where you're very unlikely to accidentally step on one.

Never heard the thing about AIDS. I figure if you're careful about where you walk, you'll be OK.

The Longterm Damage Of Forcing Kids to Eat “One More Bite”
Forcing kids to eat has longterm effects, especially forcing kids to eat food they don’t like. Saying “just one more bite” seems harmless, but actually does more damage to a child than you realize. Should you ever force a child to eat? The short answer is no and here is why forcing kids to eat is dangerous.

The Longterm Affects Of Forcing Kids to Eat "One More Bite"

Not everything was better "back then" hope the above is finally dying out. "Finnish your plate" that nonsense was just wrong.

Their are also many articles on why kids should be allowed to go barefoot but not so much on the mainstream parenting websites.

With the current obesity epidemic, it's shocking that so many parents insist on their kids eating everything. When I was a kid, there was the token "fat kid." These days, it appears to be the token "skinny kid." (Sorry if I have offended any fat or skinny people.)

But I guess you had to put them back on before returning home

I would pull them back out from under the bushes and carry them to the porch. I’d purposely Drop them so she would think that I just took them off. She wouldn’t say anything but she knew . Anything to be barefoot.

If so, why not simply let us go out barefoot?
And of course be barefoot indoors

True that. Can’t really say what the hang up
Is. I always had a passion for being barefoot all the time, having tough soles and being able to go anywhere.

Me too. I was forced to have shoes on all the time, except night, but my feet wanted to be free!

i never understood forcing kids to eat either. when i was a kid, i was pretty much a literal bottomless pit. i ate more then than i eat now, and people tell me i eat a lot now. when you're a kid and you're growing, you're always hungry. that's also why kids' portions at restaurants always confused the hell out of me. i remember when i was probably around 10-12, we used to go to this italian restaurant in town, and i would always get this massive plate of spaghetti and eat the whole thing. but one day i ordered the spaghetti, and the dumbass waitress brought out the kids' portion, which was like 3 bites of spaghetti, and i tried to convince my parents to yell at the manager and demand a refund, but they wouldn't. we just left the restaurant and got me a full meal at some fast food place instead.

my rambling point being, kids don't need to be forced to eat. they fucking need to eat.

As for me I put them back on by the door, a minute later took them off, but had to put on home slippers instead, it felt just crazy after being barefoot outdoors for some time.

I used to do the same. Worse still, I'd hide or take a sudden diversion if I thought someone was going to see me barefoot. Pathetic the paranoia that's instilled in us at a young age.

Even if someone saw you, what would they do? Is it as dangerous as that?

As a child my parents were horrifield if I took my socks and shoes off. At secondary school p.e. I was always barefoot. School sent letter to my parents asking why I didn't have pumps. I did have them but chose not to wear them. That caused an almighty row so my teen years were spent secretly barefooting. Once I left home " my house my rules " I was able to to do what I liked. I'm 54 now and apart from work I am nearly always barefoot everywhere. I'm getting to the age where I don't give ***** what people think

But when they were not home I walked around barefoot even when it was not hot. The only difficulty was to put shoes back on before they returned so that they could not see me barefoot
