Indefinite imprisonment creates a place where people who want to smuggle other people can approach and corrupt those in charge.

 

I never said anything about indefinite.

They need to be processed to ensure they havent been kidnapped beforehand and arent murdered, trafficked for labour or sex afterwards.

As I said, this isnt just US policy, similar policies exist around the world to stop child trafficking

The short version: do it the way you want, a lot more kids would get sold in prostitution or simply just get murdered once who ever brings them across the border doesnt need them anymore
