People providing services for others is kind of what makes this whole thing we call civilization go.

Why not appeal for stronger ethical committees to seek better practices or ask people to tour a slaughterhouse?

The disdain for human ingenuity that seems implicit here is a bit puzzling.

So can't one person hunt wild animals with a spear and then provide for others?

I actually said that to Asmo talking about moving them around to new pastures. The whole concept of keeping an animal captive, selectively breeding them, removing their children unnaturally, etc is bizarre and horrifying to me. I empathize with cows to the same degree as I do with humans, and when I imagine the confusion and discomfort (emotional or physical) they must feel, it makes me sad.

When you refer to "disdain for human ingenuity" in this context it makes me feel a bit sick.

Ingenuity is not inherently benign. It must be applied with morality.

Why does it have to be a spear though? That actually seems like it would make an animal suffer more as opposed to being shot or beheaded.

That was the basis of my human ingenuity statement.

I don't disagree with some of this, to a certain extent, the captive part seems unavoidable but there are aspects that could be improved upon.

I'm a little worried about him
He PM'd me right before his account was deleted and...I dunno, maybe I'm looking into it too deeply but he just seemed really down and it sets off alarm bells in my head

will say one thing about the cow one my asshole friends said we should take it. not cool Jim!! < Jim was a reckless hunter so my bud Andy and I quit taking him. He hit us both with pellets shooting into the bush. Andy and I still think he was shooting at us directly cause there was no game he flushed or anything and there is no way he didnt see that orange. And we were pissed when it happened.. No longer friends with Jim and that was 25yrs ago. Still friends with Andy, he and I may get to hunt together as he lives in Missouri but aunt Gay isnt doing to good. Aunty is the grams of the twins they work here in the beer store. He may come up for some times before she passes. If nothing happens to rapidly. Gay was the best she let us party in her home, deck and a pool. Owned a bar so we always had booze .. haha. Nothing last forever. Attacked by arsonists over a parking spot. Crackheads here havent changed. Set deck on fire, spread to two home. A 14yr old child witness was going to testify on the arsonist, he was shot in the head.

Spear comes from me wishing it to be as fair, natural and useful as lions/wolves/etc. We wouldn't see overweight meat eaters if more of them had to hunt that way. I'm sure an animal suffers when it is brought down by a pack of wolves, but that is the way nature works and without it they would die. It is also often the old and sick who are taken, which strengthens the prey species. We wouldn't die without meat but to some people it's as good as, in their minds, so I am affording them the same rights as carnivores of other species.

The captivity bit can definitely be avoided, and it's the most important part to me, because all sentient life deserves freedom.

I can't help that I feel the same about cows and people. Just because I care about the cows doesn't detract from how I feel about humans. Hell, other people are always saying stuff like "I prefer dogs/cats to people". At least I feel equally about them. Anyway yeah, my brain just grew this way.

Are you okay with free range farms that provide ample pasture space to roam?
