I still don't exactly see how I'm "wrong" though. Like what am I wrong about? I'm not saying plastic pollution isn't a problem, I just think that dictating a family of about 13 people on where they're allowed to eat is a little excessive based on personal motivations.

You're a music lover, yeah? Should I not have bought my vinyls today because they were covered in a slim plastic shield that I later placed into the recycling bin? Perish the thought! I've done my part! And deep down with your music collection, DVDs and console games, deep down I know you'd laugh that one off too.

I never said I don't dispose of my plastic in an unsuitable way and as far as I can tell I'm one of the members here that takes that completely seriously, even posting pictures of my recycling hoardes in my truck on the way to the recycling centre. so I don't have to feel guilty about anything. But I'm not going to give up music or a delicious green tea mixed with mango and rainbow jelly bursts because somebody I don't know won't recycle, kinda like how I'm not really going badger you about arguing with me on your mobile device manufactured in a high pollution factory from Asia, or condemning you for buying a new cd or console game that is encased in a plastic cover, wrapped in plastic.

To be taken seriously you should post photos of yourself in your hemp clothes and of your bamboo furnished apartment.

but it is true that if EVERYONE collectively boycotted anywhere that used plastic, they'd pretty quickly change to biodegradable cutlery etc.

We have to make use of it responsibly. How often do I buy such a product like a game on disk or an LP wrapped in plastic?
It's about not caring which Irms used as an argument (to try to shut her sis up, not to try being right ), I believe that is the essence of the problem. She's trying to validate she doesn't have to care about disposable plastic wrappers and other shit food etc comes in.
If you do care and act on it more than half of the time and like, compensate for when you make an exception, yes; than I would have no foot to stand on.

 

I'm not even sure what biodegradable product really looks like? Would it be distinguishable from a plastic fork?

Now the one question I have to ask is... Who the fuck uses a knife and fork when you're eating KFC or MacDonalds AMIRITE??

When we go camping we use paper plates now and wooden utensils. The wooden utensils must come pressed for they are actually together, you snap them off one another. It's a pretty cool idea, however they are individually wrapped in a plastic sleeve. One box of beer holds the plastic waste and is then loaded into my truck along with cans and bottles destined for the recycling factory on my way home.

No see you're just reading into things and throwing assumptions around the room again. When I said "I.... Don't care" that's not me saying I don't care about the environment or plastic waste, that's me saying I don't care if the bubble tea comes with a plastic lid or not, because I know I will recycle it anyway, as I did.

How often do you buy games and music? I dunno, 24 times a year? How I often do I get a bubble tea? Maybe once a month, plus probably a maximum of 2 games a year which, I'll just throw out there, I now download onto my xbox.

Well tbh it's not even really a plastic lid persay, it's a film that is vacuum sealed around the cup top. Oh, and I carry two straws in my handbag, one for me, one for the miss, and they are a purple and neon green straw with spirals and swirls because I'm a dork like that and they're like, totally way cooler than anyone else's straws.

 

Although its not about guilt or making you feel guilty... I think you're making excuses. Not to trivialize those efforts listed at all...! But do they compensate your consumer and buying behavior?? You seem to eat a lot of meat and often the worst kind environmentally wise for instance (KFC, BK), and buy carelessly if you get an urge. I'm just saying the impression I got Don't pretend to know the details of your consumer behavior here. There are a lot of efforts an individual can make without living like some idiot that deprives themselves from all good things in life

Until then, then. Though I'm not sure why you'd think I wouldn't take recycling actions seriously just because I'm on vacation. That would actually have to take some conceded effort on my behalf to dismiss any conscious effort I ever had of recycling. I may be a ditz, but I don't turn off any values I have in life once on holiday mode, in fact, holiday mode often brings to life more positivity in my life for I have a clearer mind. Lots of people get this attitude of.. Omg when I get back from holiday I'm gonna do this and this and that and be better.. It's often a refreshing mindset and attitude to be a better person so in terms of myself, I'm not going to all of a sudden go back on anything I feel strongly for if that makes sense.

 

The grandkids went to Six Flags yesterday with my son and his wife.

My grandson (11) ended up crying because he couldn't muster the courage to ride one of the big roller coasters.

My son felt sorry for him.

I'll have to talk with him about it this evening when I have him away from the girl cousins.

He's got a baseball practice this evening so hubby and I will be spending plenty of alone time with him.

Until then it's just goofing off with him and the girls for several hours.
