Iran has no choice and knows it. If they even tried to launch nukes they would be pounded into the dirt immediately, possibly even shot down using the latest particle-beam weapons the US has been testing. Trump is playing gunboat diplomacy knowing damned well the odds are Iran is not suicidal. Iran is a large country with advanced technology and a well developed military, but they are totally outclassed. Two aircraft carriers are all it would take to knock them out of the air and destroy all their radar in three days flat. About a week to then bomb them back into the stone age. The US would send three carriers.

They make so much noise, just like North Korea, because they know they are ripe for stomping on hard. Its their way of saying you will pay the price if they can help it, but Iran is half a century behind the rest of the world. They were isolated just like Cuba, and the further behind they fall the more they sound like a dog with no teeth. Its too bad really, they were a center of Muslim culture and sciences before corruption destroyed the entire middle east. What they might have contributed is anybody's guess, but likely some of the finest engineers, scientists, and mathematicians.

I believe in the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. We simply don't know what reality we're going to be in until a near infinite number of small details are observed, some of which are under our control. It's the only explanation for Trump. A mosquito bit a guy on vacation in Thailand, he caught Dengue and couldn't be at his executive job at NBC for 2 weeks. His replacement was a temp and said, "The Apprentice? Why not.". An innumerable number of more likely universes were averted to get us to this point.

It's too early for me to be confident enough to actually want to bet on this race. Biden is the most likely right now. He's ... fine. Like going to the ice cream shop and their out of everything but vanilla. He's too old for me. After the debates I'd be willing to bet. Okie's right, Biden does has a foot-in-mouth problem. But that may not matter as much anymore.

By the time this general kicks off in full swing, peoples social media feeds will be inundated by deep fakes of both candidates saying things they didn't actually say anyway. We may be doomed.

  3. I think we have always faced this as a species. People's actions (or inaction) can have direct or ripple effects on the lives of others because humans are primarily social.

As government has evolved, the controls have become both centralized and layered. Approval chains are long and slow in corporations as well. Only the opportunists spot the openings and give us Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Donald Trump. I respect them both for shaking things up, it's way overdue.

On the issue of a miscalculated move, I see today's chain mired in so many checks and balances that we no longer really have just 1 finger on the button (a common fear of US presidential capability). In fact, we have so many fingers required that a rapid response to Ike's nightmare is not guaranteed. Which supports your scenario in the reverse.

I think the US is about to be the recipient of a banana peel tossed into our path in a major, generational manner. Perhaps a war that bankrupts the US, and nobody comes to the rescue. But it could just as easily be a war on digital paper that ruins the US at the legal and economic underpinnings. Either way, the peel is ready to land. In a proper depression, even the rich would be starving.

The Butterfly Effect Is Instant Karma's Gonna Getcha! Being conscious means we must give birth to both greater creativity, and brain farts.

The US cannot be bankrupted by a war, because we are the world's bank. Its empire baby, and most of the world economy is underscored by the US dollar. Most places, their currency is backed up by the dollar or nobody will use it. Compared to the EU even, the US came out of the last economic collapse smelling like a rose, and Donald Duck and his predecessor George Bush can fuck up the entire world economy if they want, and the US will still come out on top. Our military is equal to the next six to sixteen largest combined and all roads lead to Rome for buying weapons.

The US is at least twenty years ahead of everyone else in weapons research in most areas. After WWII, the money rolled in, and the US spends as much on defense as most countries spend on their social welfare programs. The Pentagon alone spends more in a year than most entire countries make, while the CIA is a small city. In the last year or so alone, over a trillion dollars was invested worldwide in AI research, considered the new Manhattan project.

  6. I'm thinking P Diddy came up with "Making the Band" ahead of Trump. There was a short string of shows about mentoring, usually in a group setting. But eventually the arguments became the entertainment and they started the "reality" shows.

They all had similar pretenses, put odd mix of people in a house and take them to tourist traps and restaurants on camera, then let them argue about stupid shit that happened while they were out. Pure genius!

  7. Well yea, but, the US is running on debt. The whole planet seems to be. And the amount of the debt is higher than the amount of actual money that exists.

    We're fucked!

Well over 90% of the world economy is based on speculation, while a theory of everything is right around the corner, and describes how to make anything more self-organizing, efficient, and productive.

  9. Biden means no progress in this country.

Getting rid of Trump would be enormous progress. Whoever can best do that has my vote!

how can you be the world's bank when you are beholden to China?
If trump's tariffs effect the Chinese economy too adversely, China can do some major damage to 'murica.

    I see what you mean.

That does seem to be the case.

Indeed. There are a number of problems, but the one that occurs to me is that Trump may still be re-elected because, well, because I think that too many people are going to be frustrated if we don't get a farther-to-the-left candidate in the primaries. I mean there are enough of them, but not enough support to beat out Biden. What seems to tend to happen is people are like "forget it" once we've established that it's not Bernie. Lol. Oh well. It's only the fate of the world. :)

I wonder who Trump would replace Ginsberg with? You know he had to suggest Judge Judy for the past two openings.

It's like saying OK do I want Pepsi or Diet Pepsi ?

Either way it's still Pepsi .

  19. Our elections aren't free. They're bought by the rich and orchestrated by the fake news media. Biden's got nothing against billionaires buying elections. He's all for it, 100%.

The numbers are far worse than what we're being told.
Remember every stat coming from the US Government has been cooked. It's not new has been going on for decades. Every administration cooks numbers in order to cast the best possible light on themselves.
