I'm out now. I could not work around the snooker players tactics. I was near ahead in every single frame and he would just slow the game down with tactics and snookers. Quite frustrating. I lost 8-2 but I think the score didn't reflect how well I actually played. I think it should have been around 8-5, I was on the 8 early in a few games.

I can walk away happy this weekend though, I think I learned a lot and if anything just motivates me to keep plugging away at what I do.

After my game, before his 8 even dropped in the pocket, he very stoutly said to me "look, your potting ability is phenomenal, you're craft is as good as anybody here, BUT YOU HAVE to learn and figure out the table. You had me beat today but you select the wrong shots and outplay the table. Work it out. You play well."

Thats been my Achilles heel for about 18 months now, but I'll figure the table out. It's not that I don't understand the table, I think it's more realistically me understanding what I can and cannot get. Like it's easy to say oh just hit this ball then this hall with some side spin and it'll end up here.. If I don't pull that off I lose the match, so I need to select shots based on what I know i can make.

I found myself these last two days playing with a lot more spin. Like I just knew if I don't start doing it now I'm done and dusted. So I had to force myself to play different and it really worked which is encouraging. The other thing I learned.... You don't need to hit balls hard..... I was playing pocket weight much of the day (pocket weight is just enough power for the ball to drop in the pocket) and by not using power, I found I was much more accurate.

So I'm out now, but I am really pleased to make it to round 2. That was my goal and I made it. :)

Hey! My dad and his dog Jackson yesterday/today won the Australian National German Shepherd Dog Championship in Melbourne. :) well for his age class I think.

This dog is 2 time Australian obedience champion and now a show champion. One more show championship and it will become the only dog in Australian history to have the titles it has won.

    Go dad!

The F'n'Burgs are all over the world this weekend! :p

I only recommend Dusk... and her embrace and V empire or dark faerytales in Phallustein ( :D at title) myself.

The principle of evil made flesh is also interesting but rather raw in comparison. Not sure if you dig it. But worth checking out i'd say

We're cloudy this morning. I never check the weather anymore. I just see what it looks like outside.

My school is having a DJ night with student DJs. I bought a ticket for this, but in all honesty that's mostly because my professor asked people if they wanted to go. He also mentioned something about extra credit that might have tipped that particular scale. :D

DJing is such an art in my mind! It's become so much more than simply choosing which song is to be played or in what order. I hope they do play with the cutoff frequency knobs! :)

What course is offering extra credit for this and are you gonna get between the decks?

It's for students in the Music Technology program. And no, I declined to participate. Plus I'm not working for my Music Tech. certificate so I don't think I would get credit anyway, though it would probably be fun. Fun fact: I've never DJ'd. We have an assignment in Electronic Music that requires me to MIDI map to Ableton Live though, so I get to turn some knobs. I'm planning on doing something with EQ8 and Redux, but I don't know what else. Maybe reverb. Yeah, probably reverb.

What is EQ8 and Redux? I've heard of the latter but don't know it's function.

They are audio effects in Live. Live's EQ8 is... Well, it has a high-pass filter or low-pass filter or bell-curve filter and a couple of other options that I can't remember the names for. With those in place you can adjust the cutoff frequency for some really cool modulation... It has its x axis as hz and I think the y axis is amplitude (volume) such that it's low to high left to right. So with the EQ on you simply adjust the frequency from low to high as your track plays and it makes a cool swooshing noise.

Redux is totally different. I don't know any of the technical terms to describe what it does. Here is a short vid with someone talking about redux. He's also messing with an autofilter that does something similar to what I was describing with the EQ8s frequency in Hz...

It sounds wayyy more complicated than it is though. Redux sounds sort of gritty as you turn it up.

That first soft downsample use reminds me of the effects on Human After All By Daft Punk.
