What's Happening???

Mayyyyuunn I ran my bath too cold. I would suggest that, it is luke warm, to my skin. This is not good, I am not even getting a sweat going. I'm already in so I can't go running off to boil big pots and pans.

I should probably start reading about the rules to basketball lol. I should probably actually sit down and watch a game. Have a few brewskies.. Yeah, I might even make it through the whole thing this time.

But don't you worry, I don't know who my squad is, I don't know any school kids. I don't know anything, but when I get my girls we gone win state! that's my promise! If we ever get there we're gone win state!

On the plus side I have actually got my first 3 training sessions written down. Shootin hoops, Shootin hoops, Shootin hoops! I figure the technicalities of the game won't matter much to 12 year olds, as long as they can shoot hoops and make baskets we're in with a chance. I see it no different to pool. You learn to shoot pockets first, Then move on to the rest. If you're failing at the rest, at least you're sinking balls, right?

Also cardio in there too. Some star jumps.. I sat on the sidines of a 1sr grade Rugby team for years as physio so I learned all the talk there. I just gotta tone it down some, not so aggressive or fierce or cursing. If Stacey misses a basketball I can't send her doing 24 laps and tell her to stop fuck assing around. And I can't tell the team before the match to go out n smash these cunts ay boys.

It'll be fun, I'm really looking forward to it, it seems easy but I also see myself freezing the moment I have all them.... Kids..... Staring at me with some sort of expectation.. that I know what I'm doing. but it's meant to be fun.... It's just that I'm super competitive so if we are versing anyone even friendly, I still wanna win that you know? I get no pride or satisfaction in losing anything. And that's exactly the attitude these girls need to learn.

 

A J?

Shooting a joint? Or is the J your reference to the setup of bigs/smalls triangle on a pool table orrrrr?

I way much prefer bongs to Js but my miss is the opposite, so I'll smack a few cones into my lungs and then have half a J with her.

Sometimes she gets dopey as hell when stoned like she's quite intelligent and well spoken etc. But sometimes when she's had a smoke it's like... Do.. Do I even know you? And she'll say dumb things and I know I say dumb things and I wonder if that's how I look but just through her eyes all the time.

 

The J is a reference to a Jump Shot in Basketball or a Joint in Marijuana inhalation.

 

I haven't shot a basket for a very long time. We did have dad job in the backyard my first home as a kid. I'm not the worst shot, I'm also good at throwing rocks. I can also kick a football properly and throw a ball baseball style, for some reason the underarm soft ball pitch always aluded me.

My hand eye coordination is good, I can play tennis.

I've never done skiing or anything buuuuut I do know I was hopeless at rollerblading so I doubt I'd be good. Maybe my balance is bad? But then I used to walk along poles meters above the ground as a kid as a balance beam and I was good at that. I always beat my sisters and cousins. I was also the first to jump out of a tree to prove it wasn't too high to jump from haha. No wonder my knees are rubbish.

I did the young athletics as a kid and cross country running. For some reason I couldn't do javelin or disc very well but shotput was okay. I also did archery and some fencing.

I play volleyball in highschool. Every year we had talent selection come out to school for testing, beep test, jump test, weight etc. I got selected every year and decided to go to round 2 testing once. I did the 40m sprint, baseball throw speed test, directional sprinting and movement and I got selected for 3 sports which were rowing, Cycling and baseball. The number one pick was for rowing which I thought was weird because I wasn't tall, I was about 15/16yo at this stage.

So I did rowing for a year. I got ranked 32nd in Australia in thst year, they offer me scholarship to a private girls school but I really didn't want to do it, I had my heart set on something else so I declined. I got dropped from the talent squad after that. I know at least one girl who still rows and she's on the team Australia Olympics. It's really good to see somebody I knew make it big time. I always watch for her in the rowing championships, gold medallist too.

So that's my actual sports participation career that I can remember right now.

Oh and now pool, or eSports.

I can say I wasn't bad at any of it, and I make a fantastic arm chair coach.

 

On the contrast, my wonderful other half cannot jump from one side to another in Mario without falling in, she cannot judge the distance from a kooper creature to mario and jumps in front of it and dies and watching me play skyrim makes her dizzy.

So guess how many times we've actually thrown a ball to each other??? Not many. Lol. She always gets embarrassed and giggly because she's so unco and then I get in trouble for telling her to do it another way because she's doing it wrong.

 

Luv and I both have some kind of flu and I am really unhappy about it.

Make sure to learn the rules specific to the game the girls will be playing.

Youth rules are different than adult teams.

How old are the girls on this team?
Make sure they can dribble. You can run all sorts of drills to improve ball handling skills. Dribble around cones (like a ski slalom course) or around other stationary players. If they are right handed make them dribble left handed and vice versa.
You mentioned cardio. If your team can run constantly most of the other teams will not be able to keep up. Have them run ladders - start at the baseline, run to the foul line and back. to the top of the key and back. to half court and back. to the other top of the key and back. to the other foul line and back. to the other baseline and back. They'll be dying by then. Have them do it again. Do this before and after every practice.
Practice foul shots. How many games are lost by less than 5 points? Wanna bet there are at least 5 missed free throws in every game? Right there is the difference between a win and a loss.
Make sure they can play a zone defense or man to man - better yet both and know when to use each of those schemes.
Your offense will depend on the skillset and composition of your team. You'll have to make an assessment.
