I won't ride a bike without one. I was knocked off my bike by a car once (the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel). The helmet did its job. I shudder to think what could have happened had I not been wearing it.

It actually keeps you from getting cold :)

No, not yet. Only crossed the Atlantic once: to Brasil.

I heard its obligated there! To be fair, the States have far many dangerous situations for bicycles than us here, so there’s more legit concern. My example of me during childhood is becoming rare these days. With hindsight it was unwise letting us go like that unchaperoned on that road, but hey, that was how it was done in my parents youth and so it was still regarded as ok. Country roads were of course getting busier in the meantime.

My thoughts exactly ! Hollywood is a collection of under educated and over confident misfits who're so full of themselves it's ludicrous. Watching them postulate as though they were experts on any field in which they're questioned is off the charts hilarious !

Hey all you lovely hip cats. Sorry for the long absences. Been real busy around here. Keep finding myself in higher & higher positions of leadership & task managing keeps me ludicrously busy. Spent the day today manning the front desk, greeting those who come in, dishing out meds, checking out some who leave etc. I also find myself dealing with many spiritual issues & having to come to terms with them. Also Wednesday is my appointment with a pulmonologist where I will hopefully be told I do not have lung cancer or COPD or some other nastiness.

Anyway hope ya'll are doin' well.

    Peace n' love

Went away for couple days, wifey took me out to Krün which is not too far away from here and just another small town in Upper Bavaria, very similar style to our town. We got to bring the dog and we went for a lot of hiking, just clearing my head a lot. Not sure if it did any good, but romanticism has to be a win, so I'll take it. Small cottage B&B dog friendly.

She is also taking me into Munich on Friday for a concert. :)

As a kid no one wore helmets for motorcycles, or bicycles. No one used seat belts, and they were stored crumpled and dirty beneath the seats. Awareness changes. Ride a bike at 10 mph, and take a header, from a rear bump, a rock, or a crack in the pavement. It happens fast, and most don't even have time to put up their arms to protect their noggins. You're skull, at that speed, will very possibly crack, maybe even break open. The cement or pavement doesn't distinguish between old skulls, young skulls, or any in between.

I had a great time with my granddaughter today. We had some much overdue girl talk.

Her hair turned out absolutely gorgeous and she really, really loved it.

She's become a good driver, too.

It was one of the best days that I've had in a while.

I signed up for a classic car club about a year ago. But I was never able to attend any of the meetings. Now there will be a meeting 2 weeks from now, and I think I can finally do it and meet these people, and pay my membership fees!

I love bicycling and I always wear my helmet. We don't have many bike lanes around here and it can be dangerous to ride so close to traffic in some areas. I try to avoid those areas but you just never know. Every year a few people get killed on bikes in my state. I and many other people also ride with head lights and flashing tail lights that can be seen from a long ways away.

Every year we have a huge week-long ride across out entire state. Different routes every year. It's a big deal and people from all over the world come here for it. I've always wanted to do it but it just never worked out for me. But this year I think I'm going to get to do it with some friends. Looking forward to it. I think the longest day this year will be around 80 miles or so but it will be in a part of the state with lots of hills so that will be hard.

  20. I got hit not too long ago. It was a guy driving out of an alleyway. I just happened to be going by at the same time. He bumped me and I carried on my way, like a real trooper.
